Lieberman's Bill
I wonder if you would think the same way when they come and pick you up in the night, because one of your neighbours reported that there has been a light on in your garage at night the last five days and you get stripped of your citizenship, locked up in a non-disclosed location with no contact to the outside world for an indeterminate period of time.

Graphics Card R.I.P.
Heh, nice to know I'm not the only one in the world to have that particular experience. I've sort of got my mind set on this particular type of card though, not to mention already bought cooling solution for it (which wasn't cheap at around 150 Euro including shipping), so I just have to tell myself that it is better to burn out than fade away

Graphics Card R.I.P.
Whee, so Powercolor, Asus, XFX, Sapphire, HIS, Gigabyte and MSI all make 5970 cards. That will help narrowing down the selection process... not Only difference seems to be $100 between the cheapest and the most expensive. I seriously considered the Sapphire Toxic, but I wouldn't expect the cooling solution I've ordered to fit the double ram. Added a WD 600Gb Sata3 Velociraptor (10K RPM) to my cart while trying to sort out the gfx question.

Top 10 sci fi films of the decade
Now that my memory seems to be on a roll, Battle Royale (Batoru rowaiaru) was, if nothing else, something different for my "western perspective"

Top 10 sci fi films of the decade
Your only redemption for reminding me of Star Wars episode III (which I until now had successfully forgotten) was that the list also reminded me of Planet Terror Edit: I guess I can add T3, Underworld and The Island to the list. Those weren't too bad. Monsters vs. Aliens is probably one of those I would like to forget, but sometimes you have to take what you can get on flight entertainment (or watch the 17th rerun of something)

Top 10 sci fi films of the decade
Yes. 1999? Damn, time flies >_ Well, maybe it seems more fresh in my memory because it is less than a year ago I bought the Blu-Ray version (it was dirt cheap)

New XCOM game
Was that supposed to be related to X-Com somehow? >_ I guess the jury will have to wait until the first gameplay videos appear so we can see the game mechanics.

Top 10 sci fi films of the decade
28 days later was the only movie I knew from the top 10 list >_ I've probably only watched three other sci-fi movies that were made the last decade, Serenity, Supernova and Dark City. That is, maybe there are more. Will have to check the release dates on dreg like Alien: Resurrection, Matrix sequels etc. that my memory is trying actively to suppress. It seems like the tv series have been more memorable, oddly enough.

What you did today
Did first part of my IELTS test today. The time between start of registration (7:30) and finally getting out and getting my hands on a supersized cup of Cappucino (13:00) felt like eternity >_ Still have to do second part tomorrow. Waste of a nice weekend.

Lieberman's Bill
We gather our pitch forks and torches and seek out the isolated, the different ones and the pariahs and attibute things like tornados, aids and earthquakes to them. From there on, things usually sort themselves out.

Lieberman's Bill
Interesting... in a morbidly fascinating kind of way. Did I understand it correctly, that the suspicion alone is enough to strip you of your citizenship and shove you in front of a military court?

Strange link... Edit: Now it works, in Technicolor too

Mexifornia
What was the intent of those kids? Did they want to celebrate American values or were they just trying to to create a conflict situation deliberately? If the former, commendable, if the latter, then I foresee a great future as football (soccer) hooligans for them. Of course, I'm slightly biased since I think an individuals nationalist tendencies is inversely proportional with his intelligence.

What country do you come from?
You can blame the Habsburgs for that ...or the Burgundians, depending on your POV. Originally from Denmark. Lived in New Zealand for a few years and Australia the last 4 years.
