A roleplaying campaign blog (WHFRP)
Dear Malaik, Cowering in fear of a mere human, not to mention hiding behind shrubbery like a pointy eared tree hugger makes you a disgrace to your hold. For the sake of your family I encourage You to read through the attached application form for membership of the cult of Grimnir and consider taking The Oath. A friend.

What are you playing now
>_ Playing a new round of SoZ. Gorth the Grim - Cleric/Doomguide, Keanu the Reaver - Barbarian/Frenzied Berserker, Salma Hi-jack - Rogue/Shadowthief of Amn. Taking the leadership trait and filling up with various cohorts. Chir is a current "fan favourite". Watch out Sword Coast!

Isnt OE's influence companion system a bit counterproductive to roleplaying?

Witcher 2 'leaked' video
Not saying that it is a doomed game, just that the tings that they seem to emphasize since the initial announcement has made my expectations plummet like a rock. Positive surprises still happen

Witcher 2 'leaked' video
It wasn't so much the combat system... I don't think it's changed much to be honest, besides adding more gore and "cinematic" flourishes. It's what I feel I can read between the lines about the game iteself, being all structured around setting up big boss battles, more effort going into minigames etc. If they also add QTE's, I'm going to hire a Voodoo priest to call curse down upon them It's like they've just got their own Polish translation of "Bland CRPG Making 101" and follow it to the letter. Reason enough for despair.

Witcher 2 'leaked' video
So much for trying to differentiate themselves from everybody else. Looks like their focus is all on "playing it safe". Good thing they didn't mention things like cinematic, immersive and action in the video or I might have revisited my lunch

Isnt OE's influence companion system a bit counterproductive to roleplaying?
A well thought out post. I wonder if we are going to wait additional 3 years for Kaftans reply to this?

You are late to the party... I predict a growing market for tinnitus treatments...- A sad announcement
I think he started out, a long time ago by being a pain in the rear, but the years changed him. For the way better imho. Wherever you go now, take care.- Gulf of Mexico oil leak
I don't know if it is worse than Chernobyl, but it sure tries very hard.- New XCOM game
X-Com 3: Apocalypse... I bought it originally when it was new and later "rebought" it from Gamersgate as part of their big X-Com package deal (all X-Com games, including Enforcer etc.). I think I paid like 10$ for that package including readymade dosbox configurations. Edit to add: Fallout: Tactics? : x Not sure how to "categorise" Fallout Tactics as anything other than a rts game? Edit2: Mind you, I haven't played Fo:T since the original demo was released (so my memory is a bit fuzzy on the specifics). I have the full version somewhere with my Fallout Trilogy pack, just never got around to play it.- New XCOM game
I like FPS games who excel at the action part, Strategy games who excel at the strategy part etc. It's just that once in every 5 years, a rare gem emerges that manages to get the compromise right and create good hybrid. Unfortunately that rare gem is usually preceded by 9 disasters and succeeded by 10 hopeless clones trying to cash in on the success of "The One". I can't really think of a crpg from top of my head that got the mix (between action and "typical" crpg aspects) right, JA2 and X-Com 3 managed to get the strategy, tactical and managerial aspects mixed to my liking. A feat that is very hard to reproduce- New XCOM game
For the first two games, I would agree, but for the third one not really. It had the best combat of the series, only rivalled by the combat in JA2. Of course, I'm a sucker for tactical use of landscape and destructable environment as well as use of all 3d dimensions on the battlefield, so I might be biased. For the severely attention span challenged, the turn based combat was optional and missions could be played as a real-time strategy games.- bleh

Just a guess (correct me if I'm wrong), you've never worked on a large software project?- What you did today
Maybe the tablesaw is a motivation thing... is there a timer on the power socket in the wall?- Gulf of Mexico oil leak
Not to mention that nationalising corporate assets, besides making Castro go green with envy over the scale, would set a dangerous precedent. Both by making foreign companies more reluctant to invest in the US, but also because overseas nations might be more inclined to think, "They can do it, so can we" and help themselves to American assets in a dispute situation. Moving thresholds and lowering bars can be detrimental.- POST YOUR SPECS
Well, I got Windows 7 Ultimate, which in turn made my keyboard unusable (No windows 7 drivers). Got the water cooling blocks and the gfx card too (XFX "Black Edition" Radeon 5970). Still need to replace the fan on the gfx card with the cooling block. I wonder why I even bother with a case, it's not like my stuff is going to fit in there again Still need to find a good keyboard one of these days. Maybe that DAS Keyboard somebody once posted a link to. Describes my previous PC very well (except it is 5+ years old). I still hang on to it. It just keeps running and running.- Learning how to build a computer
For what it's worth, the only "compatibility" problems I have is with ATI is old, really old, games, like Icewind Dale and Disciples II. I need to disable a few features to make the flickering go away. But once you create a normal everyday profile and an old games profile and save for easy switching, it's no biggie.- Israel
On the internet, we are all experts- Killian is Dead.
- RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS THREAD!, just a dumping ground
Happens every now and then, both indoors and outdoors. Try to stay away from "corners" or you might end up floating on air. I found the view from above quite spectacular at the Normandy Crash site On the other hand, having finally cleared and endless stream of constantly respawning droids and getting stuck up in the air with no way down at the end of the warehouse wasn't one of the high points (pun unintended)- RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS THREAD!, just a dumping ground
The combat is awful and the mini games atrocious, but overall the game is better than the sum of its parts. Well worth playing a few times - The funny things thread
