  1. I so wish Obsidian could have commissioned that guy to write some new music for Fallout: NV.
  2. Maybe it has... just the other way around. I.e. their losses are making them desperate. Considering how recent the newest DRM is, I don't see how it could have. If it has any results, they'll be seen later. Uhh... I meant bad results causes them to try new desperate measures, like their recent DRM scheme. I can't for the death of me see how that one is accomplishing anything other than alienating people from their corporate brand. Walks like a desperate company, quacks like a desperate company and all that.
  3. Just speculation, mind you, but maybe showing too much gameplay would give too many spoilers? Information is an asset. It gets choppped up and sold piecemeal to the highest bidders (doesn't have to be money, can be "return favours"). What will the press/reviewers offer in return for snippets of info here and there?

  5. It's available from Gamersgate too if you don't like steam.
  6. That was enough referral scams for one thread I think
  7. I never saw the point in re-makes other than cashing in on and violating the name of a good movie Come to think of it, I can't remember a single re-make from top of my head that felt superior to it's original Maybe a few old sci-fi series (Blakes 7) would benefit from slightly higher production values (cardboard cut-outs and "wobble effects"), but that is about it.
  8. Any which way, the Thai people lose on this conflict. Thaksin (sp?) is a dirty rotten bastard, sort of like the Berlusconi of Thailand. The current incumbent doesn't have the money to buy popular support like his predecessor, so he relies on the military instead. A lose/lose situation for the people.
  9. Playing too much NWN again? I don't really blame the guy for wanting to fly, but airline companies are not exactly inspiring a lot of confidence in me when they let him fly without proper credentials.
  10. This thread would have been better if it had included an explicit condemnation what is presumably the 10% of direct action, i.e. whatever is not part of the 90% peaceful component. Clever use of semantics does not mean this place is to be used for directly, nor indirectly to encourage violence against governments and government institutions.
  11. Somebody found the right "Bait"
  12. Sitting here looking at something called a "Nashi". No idea what it is, but I presume it is edible. I should probably look it up on google to see what I am supposed to do with it. Yeah, curiosity got the better of me, so I bought a few unknown food objects (U.F.O.s).
  13. I've seem a few episodes of The Simpsons, so I know those. I've heard about 24 (through Alpha Protocol of all things) and I've seen an episode of "Bones" once (which was surprisingly interesting). The rest is unknown to me. I must live in a different world or something
  14. Have fun Remember to burn the negatives...
  15. Not high enough for Joystiq to bother reviewing it. Minigames FTW!... not Some day, some human rights organisation will start a campaign to have mini games banned and there will be much rejoicing.
  16. Pervert Physical media does indeed seem to become a dying breed. At least from a PC gamer perspective. Time to hoard all those old boxes and disks? They might become worth a fortune some century from now. When all is said and done though, most if not all of the stuff you can get in digital form from internet stores is unessential entertainment products. If you don't like the business model, time to find a new hobby. Reminds me that I still have a metal miniature army or two that needs painting
  17. Getting a bit long. Discussion went This Way
  18. Start of old thread End of old thread As they said down at the Casino, "Craps happens!" Let there be Fallout
  19. Looks like I'm going for the XFX (Black Edition). Asus and Gigabyte has a reputation for not following reference layouts (according to a number of tech blogs and OC forums), Sapphire wasn't too impressive quality wise (although the speed and compatibility was execellent) and HIS and MSI is... completely unknown to me. So, the above wins by default
  20. Watch at your own risk. You might end up sitting and humming "Get Perpendicular..."
  21. Do they? I think this was the point all along. Games appear to be created exclusively to entertain, which doesn't fit with other definitions of art. That means so many millions people, musicians, poets, writers, singers, painters, actors etc. have been wrongly classified over the years. They weren't artists, they were... something else. Poor Shakespeare and Michelangelo
  22. Executive summary: They had a royal family that, while not being particularly progressive, wasn't too oppressive either (all things considered). A junior member of the family then murdered them all and seized power, deciding to run the country in a completely authoritarian and abusive way. Nobody really liked the new guy.
  23. DRM is just a way for companies to express how much they hate their customers. Some are in favour of brutal, corporeal spanking of their customers while others just tell their customers how much they suck for buying their products. It is not limited to the gaming industry, as the movie industry is very bad in this regard too.
  24. Uh huh... That is why all we have left are bad shooters and RTS's Bastards, you've murdered all the good games.
