  1. I seem to remember that a thief was useful in Durlags Tower, but it's been a number of years since I played that one. Might just be my imagination.

I still remember seeing them live about 15-20 years ago. Great fun
  3. wut The Wheel of Time FPS
  4. So much for "An Apple a day keeps the doctor away" I know. That was bad. Too little sleep and too much work does that to you.
  5. That it, a line has been crossed. People, leave Won Ton soup alone!
  6. You mean that the both guys who hate the west are fighting each other? I know its wrong of me, but somehow this doesn't feel like completely bad news. I'm no expert on Somalia, but quite a lot of Somalis like the West. After all, bongzillions keep coming here. Free food beats no food. Then ship money home to fund the struggle. Maybe. I still doubt it, tho. Inside joke, our security police recently busted a pair of somalis who were recruiting/financing al-shabaab. From sources I unfortunately can't reveal, I've been told that they make up a disproportinate amount of the money transferred out of the country (Denmark). They are also pretty miffed that their right to implement sharia law (stoning and all) is being trampled underfoot. I wonder if I can find a different, public source for the figures. Sigh, Google is not much help there unless I can come up with some clever way of narrowing it down
  7. What campaign (race) are you playing? Took me a while to realise that you needed to play more than one race from start to end to get the "big picture" of what took place and how each side have their own biased views of it.
  8. I've never been there, but when seeing the pictures in the news every now and then, it does look like Cuba is the 50's trapped in amber, like time stood still since it got isolated and blockaded. As for the rest I don't know if it makes a good Fallout game, but it sure as heck has potential for an interesting game of some kind
  9. Fuzzy memory warning... I think you need to have him around a while first. Can't remember if a certain amount of influence points is needed or if it is story/event points I hope somebody remember it better than I do. It just seemed to come naturally at the time as the game progressed and you talked to your companions on the Ebon Hawk.
  10. Oh, then pun! As for the filling of the gaps of this never to be story, I suspect you are not far off the mark.
  11. Well, in the "real world" 50'es, it was a military dictatorship the first half and a communist dictatorship the second half. Makes it open for interpretation in a Fallout scifi seen from the 50'es perspective. Having the corrupt, nepotist oligarchy of Batista ruling a feudal society when it got caught in the blasts would be a very differnt background setting from the "Americana".
  12. What you need is some good screenwriting skills (combined with good writing skills for the bits and pieces that are conversation and exposition)
  13. Now you sound like my old macro economics teacher... If you ever mention the word(s) price elasticity I'm going to scream Yes, I know the models and I know their uses and lack of when it comes to the real world. Comes a time when a theory/model has to be put to the test or it remains classroom material
  14. Hmm, I'll take a look next time I get there. Work is getting a bit in the way, so it probably wont be before the weekend. Just sent an appointment to myself. I hope nobody checks my calendar (Find Mr. Cuddles) >_

Was sorting through and throwing out some old "junk". I hate throwing out stuff. Never know if that C64 magazine from 1984 turns out to contain useful info again Found some old casette tapes too, although I haven't had a player (not even a walkman) for the last decade. Managed to decode some of the almost faded pen writing on the sleeve. Damn there was some music worth recording from the radio back then. That is, if you had the patience to sit and lurk with the fingers on the Record and Play buttons >_ Tried to find some of these old concerts on dvd, but the closest I got was vhs. *Sigh!*
  16. I should know better than talking to mini boomers. Where the heck do go and find Mr. Cuddles?!? >_ If somebody has some vague hints it would be welcome. Is it somewhere where you can reasonably expect to find it during your travels or is a million to one chance of finding him under a turned over tin plate in an abandoned shack somewhere?
  17. Well you're about to see whether or not a fat tax works, because in a couple of years Denmark will have solid figures to show you. That's part of how evidence-based policy works. Try things, then a few years later, evaluate their performance. It beats banging to the drum of some blind ideal like "TAXATION IS ALWAYS BAD, AVOID ANY POLICY THAT INVOLVES TAX!!!11" There is such a thing as thinking policy through before applying it. 1. Real world 'trials' have huge costs associated with them in terms of little things like people's lives and businesses. 2. Real world 'trials' by their nature don't tell us what makes them succeed or fail. We may try something and fails due to freak circumstances, or succeed in the same way. Build more vaults Seriously though, how else are you going to know for sure if not trying it out? >_
  18. The Circle of Beer From my favourite web comic >_
  19. I think you are on to something important there
  20. A few of the landmarks might be different, but it would be too similar to Washington DC to feel "new". FO3 covered ruined metropolises, FO:NV covered desert/frontier style settings. We need more swamps in games, so the everglades would be interesting. Bring in the mutated alligators and lots of radiated water Any significant landmarks on Hawaii?
  21. I was hoping for a corporate fat cat tax. Damn. The reasoning behind the tax was sort of "logical". Danes live shorter lives than other similar countries and the main cause of death seems to be related to high cholesterol numbers and cardiovascular diseases and type 2 diabetes (caused by overweight). They could of course also make gymnastics and physical exercise compulsory, like in the military. Since they have something akin to a communist government now, it wouldn't be a far stretch of the imagination having Chinese style peoples exercise programmes
  22. Thanks, will give it a try Installed Mysteries of Westgate and just tried out the character creation and introduction. Looks like a nice enough game, but jeebus, the dialogue is awful (not the acting, just the writing). Like somebody trying to recite text written for a book, not the "stage"
  23. Go wactch some post-Katrina videos on youtube
  24. Anything that shortens the average life expectancy of a Deathclaw would be welcome
  25. I kind of liked "The Pitt" (just guessing, the real world equivalent has a lot of steel industry?), but wouldn't Philadelphia be sort of unknown outside the US? While it is an American game, a large number of units is sold outside the US. Los Angeles, Las Vegas, New York and Washington DC are world famous for various reasons. Philadelphia is something you spread on your bread Gentle mocking aside, there probably are a lot of locations that could make for interesting Fallout games. Ever considered the other side of the conflict? A game set in Shanghai? Playing as Canadian Freedom fighters struggling against power armour clad invaders etc.?
