  1. Dilbert is brilliant As for meetings, isn't that what you hire project managers for, so they can sit in meetings all day long while you actually get some work done
  2. "Obsidian bosse sur deux nouveaux JDRs non annonc
  3. Got mail today... my 25th anniversary edition of Lucio Fulci's "Zombi 2". Two disc digitally remastered and uncut, with Dolby Digital 5.1 sound. I'm going to buy a bottle of wine and indulge in zombie gore horror fest tomorrow
  4. No idea who he is, but he looks like a young Brezhnev?
  5. Enjoying a bit of easy time at work these days. Sort of the calm before the storm as one of our biggest projects ever is going to kick off in a few weeks time. Goodbye life, it was nice knowing you. Sort of wondering if I should put in my annual leave request for next August now, just to be sure
  6. Actually, what the hell DID happpen to squats? Everytime the subject comes up, the local red shirts pulls the old oyster trick after running the standard corporate line of "the only right thing to do"
  7. Unfortunately there was no option of crafting a pair of mittens from Cespenars hide. He sure is a contented for most obnoxious npc
  8. There are people who scans planets for a living?... *shiver* Interesting stuff though, if you believe that mankinds future is not limited to the current planet.
  9. I found BG2's method to be a mixed blessing. Some of the stuff made sense and was fun, some of the stuff was just frustrating. It might have to do with the pacing though. An old gripe of mine, offering you the sword of spider slaying as a reward for killing the last spider in the game Getting nice, fire resistant armour was a nice reward for skinning Firkraag (does that even count as "crafting"), getting the Equaliser for pretty much completing the game was an exercise in futility.
  10. I liked it in The Witcher, gave you a chance to stop and smell the flowers... quite literally I don't remember if you could even buy potions in TW? Besides, it seems like it fit in with the lore, the setting and the actual story arc (their laboratory getting raided), so superficially it seemed an integral part of the game. Sure beat the heck out of planet scanning as a secundary activity/time filler.
  11. Whats wrong with the graphics? >_ It even has colours!
  12. Nostalgia definitely plays a part. It was only the second time I remember a comprehensive world with a consistent "internal logic". I.e. it's own laws of morality, physics, causality etc. You felt like you were walking around on the continent of Britannia, exploring and discovering, seizing ships for transport over water etc. I tried one of the later ones (either V or VI, don't remember which one) and didn't like it. The isometric, colourful jumbo sized graphics took up too much screen real estate at the cost of the sense of "exploring".
  13. Got the GoG version of Ultima IV too. Brings back some memories. I wonder if the music is as good as the C64 version though? A curse upon the Demon that lives of socks in drawers and old game boxes, I miss my old Ultima IV box. It came with a printed map and a plastic Ankh >_
  14. Just wondering what it could add to the table that shooters haven't added before?
  15. It can be cool and ridiculous. You just need to watch more Russ Meyer movies.
  16. *Groan* >_ Sometimes the dead are just better left dead. The world really doesn't need more generic FPS games.
  17. Ah yes, those too. After a decade or two, you sort of get used to them and don't even think about them. I feel old now
  18. It's quite common actually. I have a 3 month clause in my contract too. One of the big-wigs at a previous employer had a 12 month non-competitive clause. When he left, he spent the next 12 months finally getting his fence fixed.
  19. 1) Bring a pot of water to a vigorous boil. 2) Drop crabs in. 3) When crabs turn red, they are done. 4) Melt a stick of butter for dipping sauce. 5) Crack shells and enjoy. Just a word of warning... is going to take a large pot and lots of curry The crabs that Wals linked to (can get a "leg span" of up to 1.5 meters)
  20. I see that Gamersgate has Mysteries of Westgate for NWN2 for $9.95. Anybody here ever played it or did everybody get tired of waiting for Atari to get their act together? If anyone played it, is it any good (for somebody who liked NWN2)?
  21. Problem is they have become used to scooping up said kids money by the truckload. Once you get used to a revenue stream, it's hard to let go, even if the four rough riders of the apocalypse is telling you, that this is a fickle group with attention spans the size of singularities. No matter how much they try to dumb down the rules (it can hardly get any worse), eventually their current target group will lose interest and find new gadgets/hobbies/whatever. They currently feel the squeeze from the market. It's really weird since they have built this network of retail stores, that for all intent and purposes is geared towards bulk sales of easily digestable commodities, yet they price their goods as "luxury" items and their only answer to red numbers on the balance sheet is price increases. Eventually they will have to engage in some heavy handed cost cutting measures.
  22. I'm an obsessive compulsive mapper. Since Bards Tale and Temple of Apshai I've had this irresistible urge to map out every inch of a level. I still remember the horror that was BG1 when I played it the first time (damn "fog of war")
  23. Damn Romulans. How are you supposed to give them a speeding ticket?
  24. Sounds like non-trivial bad news...
