  1. It was a case of in most cases it didn't make sense. Fighting endless assaults by airborne troops and paratroopers dropping out of the sky got old before halfway through the game. DA:O actually had similar mechanics in some places, but much better implemented (disguised).
  2. Possibly. It turns it from a small arcade game into a QTE (without the hints). I hate QTE's passionately. I haven't been to Ilum yet If I get the time today, I'll give it a shot. Worst case scenario, I die ignominously. Heh, good to know, thanks. I'll check my inventory. Might just have something in the quest inventory tab then
  3. Well, I didn't really pursue the dreadseed plot (yet), just in case there was an overlap. I noticed a number of references in the "high level" stuff referring to things as if I had already been somewhere or done something on certain planets (it specifically mentioned a prison break on Belsavis which hasn't happened yet in my story line). Thought it safer to ignore it and just continue the main Bounty Hunter story until finished. Yeah, I suspect the heroic space combat is all about trial and error and work out what the one and only working sequence of actions are. Not my favourite type of game Handed over a few handful of solved henchmen tokens and bought 3 kingpin contracts. Just to play it safe, the character purchasing it picked something 5 levels below his current level. Surprise... not only does the quest claim to be for his current level (so much for offering a choice) and it claims to be a group quest (no mention of how many people are required, i.e. 2+ or 4+). Not only that, it says in the quest log my level 33 guy needs his macro binoculars and seeker droids to locate the kingpin... wth? I think I'll just go visit the planet and see if it's an error in the description or if there is no point in doing it for levels below 50.
  4. My main character in SWTor is making a determined run for the endgame. Now level 53, approaching level 54 fast. Grinded out two tauntauns. Emailed them to other characters. Now doing GSI missions. A nice change of pace, at least the binocular missions. For once just explore and find stuff instead of grinding enemies that can't hurt me, yet takes 20 minutes each to die (without giving anything worthwhile in return). Also got a quest to find some dreadseeds, but it gets rather messy because I haven't actually progressed the story that far yet where it makes sense (currently on Belsavis, checking up on the dread lords). Edit: and a quest to visit Makeb, Section X and some other places. Trying to focus just on the story and bounty stuff at the moment. Edit2: Bloody hell, those space combat missions are hard. 5 tries, not completed a single one successfully
  5. Meh, too "actiony" for my tastes (too similar to Witcher 2). Interest just took a nose dive
  6. Hush, you are giving away my plans for the next "cereal killer"! Watch this space for the official announcement of Gorth Flakes (t)
  7. Just wait for the hair dye DLC
  8. Let's just create a metrosexual character. Nobody will ever know what gender it is.
  9. Meh, had nothing to do with sexuality. I hated him because he was a whiny, self-righteous, conceited jerk too full of self-pity to see beyond the tip of his nose. Took great pleasure in putting him out of his misery (same thing goes for that other whiny character, what's his name, Fenris?). I know this isn't a wishlist thread, but I wouldn't mind seeing that Qunari (elf actually) assassin from Mark of the Assassin again. She was good fun (and I enjoyed the expansion). Otherwise, give me Varric any day (I wouldn't mind if Isabella and Zevran tagged along either). The rest of the cast can go raise sheep in Ferelden
  10. It could also be because I was online when the event started and every man and his blaster suddenly rushed the contract stands. Gave it a break for a day and went back at a time when west coast US is fast asleep (well, they should be). The benefit of living in the unwanted bastard child timezone. Less crowded, got my 5 pieces of info and the bounty. Then I realised it's bound to legacy, so in short order, 5 more characters in my legacy were off to various places collecting bounties. My commando hit a snatch though, no way he could defeat his Tattooine opponent in one on one combat, even with companions for help. Still, got 5 bounties in an hour and a half and I'm now approaching tier 2 in the reputation (friend?).
  11. Probably because it's the lowest level? If they did like me, it was simply the first on the list
  12. The only "gripe" I've had with Bioware/EA in that regard was the rather blatant sales kiosk in your camp in DA:O (that big shining, attention grabbing symbol above his head, a constant reminder that you hadn't bought some irrelevant addon). Can't get to try out EU IV before I get home from work. It's going to be a looong day.
  13. I thought Republic controlled Taris looked "freaking amazing" in SWTor Not in a photo realistic way, just in that impression of large scale destruction and ruin kind of way.
  14. That would explain the weird button layout on some controllers
  15. It might be an art direction thing. If I remember correctly, dreadlocks were all the rage in BG2, most characters besides Minsc having them (never checked Boo's hairstyle though).
  16. I find it comparable to XCom. Just without the pretentious price tag. Oh, and combat is more fun. Biggest joy killer is the linearity and the lack of proper save game functionality. Atmosphere is good and the game is "fun" in that undefinable, defying the odds kind of way (total being greater than sum of parts or whatever).
  17. I tried one of the contracts. Went to Hutta. It was ridiculous. The tiny cantina was crowded with 40+ or so people from levels 25-55, squatting on the spawn points, checking to see who had the fastest trigger. Gave up after 2 minutes and abandoned the quest. Maybe in a few months time (since it's announced to be a recurring thing). Had more fun getting my first Tauntaun, scouring Hoth for data (got the subscriber one, although I had 6-7 spare data items, might get the "full" priced one too over the weekend). Since EA decided to only take the servers down for a few hours instead of a few days as first announced, it meant I actually had most of a day to play Macroth is now level 50, a few xp shy of level 51. Started to check out the harder space missions (got brutally slaughtered in the first attempt). Also finished two flashpoints along the way that I hadn't played before (first Red Reaper and then False Emperor. Still need to do Directive 7 though, group finder is funny like that). Edit: Cleared some bonus missions on Makeb while still being level 48, but decided my chances of survival would probably improve if I gained a few more levels first, so now continuing the Bounty Hunter story's chapter 3 on Belsavis. Edit2: Blizz is a blast. A daily commendation to whoever came up with that character.
  18. I wonder if they are going to have leagues, like division 1, 2 and premiere league? Or maybe like boxing, light weight, middle weight and the heavy weight championships?
  19. What would you suggest instead? Give it to Prince Charles. The man may be mad for all practical purposes, but you can guarantee he isn't power-crazed. His son(s) may have different ideas though about what an army can be used for... *mumbles something about unfinished business at the Khyber Pass*
  20. Hey, at least we don't take a day off just to watch horse races
  21. Happened to me once a long time ago. It was outdoors though, not in my freezer. Forgot a bottle I had stuck in the snow (to free up my hands for a moment, fiddling with keys) and then forgot about it (leaving it outdoors) until the day after.
  22. Never heard of those cards. Maybe I should check my account some day. I do have somewhere between 50 and 100 games on my steam account (although 2/3 of those are Humble Bundle and similar games).
  23. Where is your trust in the system??? I find this one generally amusing (from www.cia.gov) "The Central Intelligence Agency is committed to protecting your privacy and will collect no personal information about you unless you choose to provide that information to us." So, we are all pretty safe from snooping
  24. That's actually true... Witch hunts and burnings were the works of peasants and zealots. The Inquisition was created as a response to heretics (the Cathar and others). It was mostly about preventing sedition from the "one and only true faith" and cracking down on people who tried changing things. Pop culture has turned it into something different (e.g. WH40k) Edit: There is a kind of irony in the Roman Catholic Church inventing the inquisition, considering that they were the first heretics, deviating from the Orthodox faith, but that's of course pretty irrelevant to the game
  25. Just wait until somebody realise the reality tv value of the project. Big Brother in Space.
