RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS
Didn't Fallout 3 (Beths FO3, not FO:NV) require that abomination too? I seem to remember that was one of two major reasons I never reinstalled it (despite having the big box of all things FO3 with the DLC's). They can't remove Little Lamplight (the other major reason I never reinstalled), but if they release a patch that removes the first horror, I might one day in a distant future reinstall and complete the game.

Dragon Age: Inquisition
Ok, granted, he may never make a good romance option, but unflinching loyalty, affection and useful in combat? Come on, what's not to love about such a companion? He'll fetch your slippers and newspapers too without ever questioning his place or your plans. You try telling Oghren or Leliana to 'sit' or 'fetch' and they'll probably tell you to stow it. ... Edit: Just for comparison, Dog is less likely to drool and have fleas than Oghren, less likely to sing than Leliana, less likely to betray you than Morrighan, less teen angst than the Carth Onassi guy with swords (Alistair was his name?), less likely to consort with demons than Wynne. I would say, he does stack up very well against the competition

Dragon Age: Inquisition
My favourite "trio" in DA:O were Sten, Dog and Zevran. At least they were for me the most interesting personalities. They also felt like the least whinging and prone to self-pity ones IIRC, although Wynne might not have been bad in that regard either.

Origin Of Your Name And Avatar
I could have sworn we had one of those threads many years ago??? Anyway, 'Gorth' is about 30 years old as a nickname. It was originally a name picked at semi-random from the appendix of a Lords of the Rings book (don't remember which one anymore, it had a name index and glossary at the back). It was originally 'Gorthaur', but then one of my friends asked "How do you pronounce that?" and I had no clue (the idea being about 30 minutes old at the time). With usual pragmatism, I just decided to chop off a lot of syllables until the name became pronouncable I had originally put aside a greek helmet for an avatar when creating this account. That was until I saw the member number the forum had assigned me, so I decided to go looking for something slightly more sinister looking. Found this skull gif somewhere and resized it in in one of those Adobe products that could work with animated gifs (converting it to a sequence of still images, batch resizing and re-combine to a new animation). I've stuck with the image since.

Could you capture him and send him to London zoo? ~ NB: This is a plan with no drawbacks. I thought the courtroom was like those Ultimate Fighting thing cages, just with more words involved?

What are you playing now?
Damn, need to start playing EU IV. Finally got it installed on my Steam client. Can't wait. Slightly tangential, most hilarious game of EU III I ever played had the Empire of Haiti slugging it out with Quebec over who should rule north America, crushing the Kingdom of Lousiana in the process (Spain and England had it all, but then fell apart due to instability and revolts... and my remove the *&^%$ lucky flag from the save game). I haven't been to Ilum yet Ok, found out how that group thing works for bounties. The hard way actually No idea how you soloed a Kingpin, since they scale to your level and are Elite quality. Maybe if you have 7 pieces or armour with artifact mods (as well as a geared up companion), you may have a fighting chance. Most people, including me, won't have that while leveling up during the "story phase" of the game. Makes sense when you are level 55 though, because advancement then is due to gear, not character. Since I had started all 3 kingpin bounties and assigned to different toons, I gave up rather quickly with my level 32 juggernaut. Next in line was my level 38 sniper. The latter was how I had the good fortune of discovering the group mechanic. I decided I didn't want to diss the quest, so I though, what the heck, lets go to Hutta and check out the opposition, I could always come back in a few months time (hopefully geared up for the task then). As luck would have it, I ran across a level 32 mercenary who asked me if I could lend a hand with the very same Kingpin. Sure, we teamed up as a group and he triggered the final battle. Surprise... Suddenly he was fighting a level 38 Kingpin If hanging around on the space station makes you lose all faith in humanity, this guy was the exact opposite. Actually had brains. Instead of bull rushing an unbeatable foe, he seemed to realise he couldn't really hurt him, nor the increasingly difficult add summons, so he back pedalled and focused on healing me instead (our two companions long since dead). It was a bit on the hard side and I got close to dying several times, but thanks to the constant healing I managed to stay in the fight until he was down to 10% (I had asked beforehand if he wanted the target dead or alive), so he rushed forward and carbonized him. This is where the second pleasant discovery came, as we prepared to repeat the exercise again (he offered to stay around for my fight) it had solved the Kingpin quest for both of us in one fell swoop

What you did today
I know LOL! So dumb. Not only did it make a mess but it splintered the back wall of the stall. Learned a very important lesson that day I did! ...well, least ya got the rat...jus' be wary o' furry vengence, them damnabe rats be smarter than peoples thinks... ...WHO LUVS YA, BABY!!... Maybe she was trying to hit the barn, the rat was just collateral damage Joking aside, my younger brother discovered a short while ago how unpleasant rats can be. Looks like they get the city council to take care of it though, having contacted them. Spent the weekend just indulging myself. Doing absolutely nothing other than enjoy some mild spring weather (at least during the day time, nights are still on the cool side). Played a bit of games. Read a book. Drank some Cognac. Went for a walk in the park lands. Life was good. Now it's Monday again...

SW: The Old Republic Part 5
Ran into an "amusing" bug over the weekend... Actually, it was quite frustrating, but it was so outrageous that you couldn't help laugh at it. I don't really bother with PVP anymore, but having had this 2 out of 3 victories in my quest log for the longest time, I couldn't get myself to abandon it, so I queued up for a warzone and it popped shortly after, great. Battle went well. It's the one where you have to defend/attack doors leading to a reactor. Starting out as defender, we kept the republic scum from even opening a single door before the 6 minutes were over and switching sides. Great, we only needed to breach a single door for a win. In less than 60 seconds, breached the first door and the game ended. Everybody was cheering and all was good... until the status board came up and declared us losers as a reward for winning. Suddenly everyone was WTF? WTH? and **** & ****, oh and **** this!!! Yeah, still need that third win. Sometimes you just feel the game is rigged ... On a completely unrelated note and just because I got a spare tauntaun, I decided to create a girly marauder (I don't really do girly characters that often). I would have preferred a dinosaur for her, but lacking that, a tauntaun will have to do. Also equipped her so she is dual wielding gamorrean war axes. Maybe I should get her a chainmail bikini. She already has the flaming red her, but sadly, the name "Sonia" was already taken.

Dragon Age: Inquisition
It was a case of in most cases it didn't make sense. Fighting endless assaults by airborne troops and paratroopers dropping out of the sky got old before halfway through the game. DA:O actually had similar mechanics in some places, but much better implemented (disguised).

What are you playing now?
Possibly. It turns it from a small arcade game into a QTE (without the hints). I hate QTE's passionately. I haven't been to Ilum yet If I get the time today, I'll give it a shot. Worst case scenario, I die ignominously. Heh, good to know, thanks. I'll check my inventory. Might just have something in the quest inventory tab then

Well, I didn't really pursue the dreadseed plot (yet), just in case there was an overlap. I noticed a number of references in the "high level" stuff referring to things as if I had already been somewhere or done something on certain planets (it specifically mentioned a prison break on Belsavis which hasn't happened yet in my story line). Thought it safer to ignore it and just continue the main Bounty Hunter story until finished. Yeah, I suspect the heroic space combat is all about trial and error and work out what the one and only working sequence of actions are. Not my favourite type of game Handed over a few handful of solved henchmen tokens and bought 3 kingpin contracts. Just to play it safe, the character purchasing it picked something 5 levels below his current level. Surprise... not only does the quest claim to be for his current level (so much for offering a choice) and it claims to be a group quest (no mention of how many people are required, i.e. 2+ or 4+). Not only that, it says in the quest log my level 33 guy needs his macro binoculars and seeker droids to locate the kingpin... wth? I think I'll just go visit the planet and see if it's an error in the description or if there is no point in doing it for levels below 50.

My main character in SWTor is making a determined run for the endgame. Now level 53, approaching level 54 fast. Grinded out two tauntauns. Emailed them to other characters. Now doing GSI missions. A nice change of pace, at least the binocular missions. For once just explore and find stuff instead of grinding enemies that can't hurt me, yet takes 20 minutes each to die (without giving anything worthwhile in return). Also got a quest to find some dreadseeds, but it gets rather messy because I haven't actually progressed the story that far yet where it makes sense (currently on Belsavis, checking up on the dread lords). Edit: and a quest to visit Makeb, Section X and some other places. Trying to focus just on the story and bounty stuff at the moment. Edit2: Bloody hell, those space combat missions are hard. 5 tries, not completed a single one successfully

Let's just create a metrosexual character. Nobody will ever know what gender it is.

Dragon Age: Inquisition
Meh, had nothing to do with sexuality. I hated him because he was a whiny, self-righteous, conceited jerk too full of self-pity to see beyond the tip of his nose. Took great pleasure in putting him out of his misery (same thing goes for that other whiny character, what's his name, Fenris?). I know this isn't a wishlist thread, but I wouldn't mind seeing that Qunari (elf actually) assassin from Mark of the Assassin again. She was good fun (and I enjoyed the expansion). Otherwise, give me Varric any day (I wouldn't mind if Isabella and Zevran tagged along either). The rest of the cast can go raise sheep in Ferelden

SW: The Old Republic Part 5
It could also be because I was online when the event started and every man and his blaster suddenly rushed the contract stands. Gave it a break for a day and went back at a time when west coast US is fast asleep (well, they should be). The benefit of living in the unwanted bastard child timezone. Less crowded, got my 5 pieces of info and the bounty. Then I realised it's bound to legacy, so in short order, 5 more characters in my legacy were off to various places collecting bounties. My commando hit a snatch though, no way he could defeat his Tattooine opponent in one on one combat, even with companions for help. Still, got 5 bounties in an hour and a half and I'm now approaching tier 2 in the reputation (friend?).

Probably because it's the lowest level? If they did like me, it was simply the first on the list

The only "gripe" I've had with Bioware/EA in that regard was the rather blatant sales kiosk in your camp in DA:O (that big shining, attention grabbing symbol above his head, a constant reminder that you hadn't bought some irrelevant addon). Can't get to try out EU IV before I get home from work. It's going to be a looong day.
