  1. Yeah, better stop in time Thread got a bit long a bit fast... Warning: Inquistion ahead. Pedestrians please use other footpath

  3. Hmm... was about to say something. Then considered the "PG" nature of this board and reconsidered. Never mind.
  4. I started editing my previous post and realised the edit would be much longer than the original post. So, double posting Looks like the upgrade/patch process went south this time. I checked out the swtor forums and it was funny watching the whinging by some people, that they might lose part of day. I was tempted to suggest they should try living in the Apac region and we effectively lose 10% of our subscription to down time in prime hours on average. Apart from that, some of the updates were quite nice. I once sent a of very expensive stuff to a wrong toon (named spelled almost the same except a single letter). Never saw half a million ingame credits worth of stuff again. Not losing it to simple typos is nice (I checked it and it seems to work when trying names not of your legacy, guild or friend list). I also noticed that my consular had his ship "re-arranged". After a moment of 'wtf', I checked the map and noticed that the GTN terminal is now located in the same room as the storage bay. Only question is, what took them so long? Not interested in arenas, so haven't tried those. Noticed a fortnight ago that they fixed the jedi prisoner achievement. Not "essential", but nice to see lesser issues also getting the odd fix. Now if they could just fix the darn Black Sun issue. Seriously, how hard can it be to tally the cannon fodder instead of the strong opponents? Speaking of which, Alderaan still has its fair share of Ulgos that don't count as Ulgos Adding new emotions to the cartel market is nice. If they could just fix the legacy unlock so you could use the unlock button. Maybe they don't want more of my money? --- Gorths convenience wishlist: Can we have a legacy storage bay yet? Pretty please? Mod station for star ships? I really hate crafting a container full of mods and then have to fly somewhere to install them (avoiding the fleet like the plague), Entirely a vanity thing, but interior paint jobs and thematic decorations for some of the ship quarters would be nice. Trophy room anyone? Gorths essentials wishlist: Account wide ignore lists. I want all my toons to ignore all toons from another account, down to the last alt. Queueing for specific warzones. I'm not much for pvp, but I think hutt ball is the main reason I don't play warzones at all anymore. Speaking of which, more "tiers" would be nice. Not just the two and a half there is (10-29, 30-54 and 55). Bolster is no substitute for having the additional skills you have towards the high end of the tier level range. Gorths odd stuff wishlist: How about more "social" activities featuring your companions on your starship? I would love a sparring/duelling match with Skadge (so I can beat the beejeebus out of him). A game of Pazaak at the table with Mako or a shooting/target practice match with Gaunt.
  5. I probably couldn't care less about space 'pvp', but a more free form 360 degree open space combat game would be a welcome addition. Speaking of space, in space nobody can hear Gorth MacRoth scream I can comfortable complete the first of the heroic space missions now, but I'll be damned if I can hit bulls eye with 4 out of 4 torpedoes on the next. I keep missing at least one of the shots. Unlike the easy missions, these targets are not standing still, so you have to maintain and move the lock (until it flashes) on a moving target while moving your own ship around in circles and dodging obscene amounts of incoming fire. I keep slipping/misfiring at least one every time... *Grrrr!!!*
  6. Yes. There has been enough discussions about it to flog the mounts of an undead cavalry regiment 27th and current thread on the subject
  7. It's a side scrolling game, with each stage ending in a difficult boss fight. In before somebody posts a let me google that for you link (did google it). I was already an old and jaded computer gamer by the time the series was created and never had any of those consoles. Probably why I never heard about it. Now back to my lurking and waiting for the other two projects I've backed (Wasteland 2 and Project Eternity)
  8. I can honestly say, I've only ever heard the name "Mega Man" referenced. No idea what kind of game it is.
  9. Splitting my time a bit between Europa Universalis IV and SWTor. Still getting familiar with the changes in the former. Trying my hand a being England. Not a nation I've played much in EU III. Started up a gazilion games in EU III but most got abandoned after a few years. More a curiosity thing to examine possible developments from a particular country's perspective. This time, I think I'll stick with ruling the waves (in EU IV). In the latter, the inevitable happened and I dinged in at level 55, despite putting a lot of hard work into not levelling up (since about level 50). Now I've got a number of flashpoints that I can't play in story mode and I'm not even started (much) on chapter 3 of the class story. Ah well. Started gearing up a bit for the PvE fights since my crafting skills enables me to make level 53 purple armour and modification mods (haven't found a store selling better yet). If Beryllius wasn't so damn rare! Other than that, I suppose it's time to scrounge together various commendations and start upgrading. Will probably start building an armour set based around 'Expertise' too, just for the odd PvP game.
  10. I've head of Resident Evil 2 (never played it). Can't say the other names ring a bell. Of the two Kickstarter games (that I've backed) released so far, I can't say I've been "disappointed". Conquistadors delivered what I expected and Shadowrun Returns was ok (checkpoint/missing game save feature a major detractor). Did I pay over market price for them? Definitely. Was the game(s) to blame? Definitely not, it was entirely my own choice to support interesting projects from complete unknowns Who knows, it may be those guys go on to create the penuntilmate crpg/tactical squad based combat hybrid game some day.
  11. I'm a simple person, so I just hate all RTS on principle
  12. Yeah, ridiculous amounts of xp in this game. I've whinged in these threads in the past when they do the double xp stuff, meaning I go play something else in the meantime. I suspect the game was designed around class missions and they in themselves provides plenty of xp to keep you at a level appropriate for story progression. It's just that everything else also gives xp. It would have been nicer if flashpoints, heroics, space missions, warzones etc. just provided "stuff" (vanity armour, pets, dyes, fancy coloured lasers for your starship, whatever).
  13. Meh, no crpg in sight. No tactical squad based combat game either for that matter. RTS and shooters seems to be all that runs out of the munitorum factories these days
  14. *Sigh* ex-Gorth ("MacRoth") is now only a handful of xp from reaching level 55. Even doing quests way below my level is bound to push him over the edge eventually, despite giving 6xp each. Still got piles of complimentary xp boosters for everything from space missions to what have you. Maybe I should just hang on to them. Just in case. You never know, there may come some expansion in a galaxy far away that raises the level limit. Biggest problem when playing at the moment is the 25 item limit in my quest log. Can't even queue for pvp even if I had wanted to, nor flashpoints. I find myself abandoning more and more and then just hope I remember to go back and visit places, picking up the non-repeatable ones eventually.
  15. I noticed a strange bug on Hoth. At first, it took me a while to pinpoint what it was, that was driving me crazy and when I realised it, it was a facepalm moment for being so obvious. My character is making combustion engine noises when moving around. It would made sense if riding a snow-mobile or a speeder/mount with that engine sound, but... my guy is on foot Just for fun, I jumped on a speeder with similar sound and it made sense. Drive around a bit, forwards and backwards, ok. Get off speeder, walk forward and walk backwards, same sounds. It's like the game thinks you are always on a specific type of speeder. Even changing speeder to one with a very different sound set makes no difference, still getting the "combustion engine" sound. I'm now having visions of my guy running around in the snow, Monty Python style, making funny mount noises (like going 'VROOM! VROOM!' instead of the coconut noises, but still).
  16. Tanno Vik does most of the fighting and killing on behalf of my Commando (because frankly, my commando sucks at it)
  17. Watching thread with interest My limited experiences with Might and Magic is really limited to Heroes of Might and Magic III (plus various expansions). That was a turn based strategy game (with light rpg elements) only ever matched by Disciples II in quality. It did a decent job of giving some insight into the setting and the universe though. Unfortunately it didn't give any pointers where to go to scratch your crpg itch (and there are like what, 9-10 M&M titles out now?). Edit: As for Ultima, anything pales compared to Ultima IV (IMNSHO)
  18. If going out with a bang, the last words are probably going to be "..." If having a few seconds, it's likely to be "Oh....!" If taking way too long, it's likely to be "Are we there yet? How about now?" Humorous exit: "This will work!" On a morbid, yet related note, I've told my relatives to recycle the parts that can be recycled (organ donor), burn the rest and spread the ashes on the sea. The very thought of remaining in one place for a long period of time is just abhorrent to me.
  19. Most of the issues I've come across so far are actually listed on the known issues list. Doesn't mean I haven't come across more, but they've been either not noticeable or not "repeatable". Only exception is the hyperspace crash in Black Talon and The Foundry. I haven't tried the Quesh boss, starting out with "Grandfather" on Balmorra and then the first 3 on the Weekly list (Tattooine, Nar Shaddaa and Alderaan). What's the story with the Bormu anyway and the achievement that is even more ridiculous than the Black Sun on Coruscant (at least the latter is acknowledged as a bug)? No way is any sane person going to bother killing 500 Bormu (on a trip through the landscape, you might down 10 or so during a game). Must be some kind of insider joke. Speaking of achievements... I noticed that the Jedi Prisoner has been fixed at some point after my Powertech stopped visiting The Foundry. My sniper just got it yesterday. After two and a half attempt at starting the flashpoint. In the first attempt, our tank was stuck, because the red elevator button had gone missing, he couldn't progress with the rest of us. Had to leave. Then healer disconnected. Game over. Second attempt, tank disconnects right away. Healer gets cold feet and quits group. Other sniper and I becomes stubborn (happens to be the very same sniper that entered the first time together with me). We decided we were cursed or some such, but wouldn't just quit this time (after having waited 2 x 1.5 hours in the queue). Luckily for us, a good couple of players shows up right away* and we finish without breaking a sweat. Sniper power FTW :)' *Right away as in 15 minutes in because of the forced lockout. Once expired they were there. Lockout was in place because of the above mentioned hyperspace bug. When the game crashes, it apparently thinks you left the flashpoint voluntarily. Even starting up the game again, logging in and continuing where you were in the flashpoint.
  20. I found ME1 to have the best combat of the 3. Less corridors, better use of terrain and more "convincing" physics in the way biotics were used. It wasn't open world, but it gave a greater sense of freedom when fighting. Probably just as well I completed it last, otherwise I would have been very disappointed with combat in ME2 (in particular) and to a lesser degree ME3. Similar feelings around DA:O and DA2 where the latter feels a lot more restrictive and "smaller" in scale.
  21. Sorry friend Bruce, but for all the repetition of the message, from Obama "being sure" and the Israeli intelligence services claiming as "fact" it happened, hard evidence is in very short supply. Currently about as convincing a case as Saddams stock piles of WMD ready to deploy. I sat down yesterday, read a number of web site news articles (everything from bbc over al jazeera to fox news, trying not to laugh too hard at the latter) and put a critical view on the sources and question the motivation of each article. Couldn't find a single "agenda-less" claim that it happened. Entirely anecdotal, I know. Still makes me question whether or not somebody is fanning the flames for less obvious reasons.
  22. Those clandestine agents are going to initiate 'Dragon Protocol'?
  23. Put some steak in some marinade in a pan. Left it in the fridge overnight. Going to fry it tonight when I get home. It's going to be interesting. Not quite sure what to add to it, but I think I have a can of mushrooms and some frozen broccoli and cauliflower (and some cheesy sauce for the vegetables). I know, frozen stuff, but who cares? There's plenty of meat. Got a nice bottle of wine too.
  24. Beat me to it... thought about the mouse experiment posted earlier in this thread. Watch this space for computer virus that forces you to do things against your will Speaking of minds, those wacky Austrians (not to be confused with Australians) are at it again. Not just masters of Quantum Communication, they are also putting a different spin on AI. Now growing brains in vats... Yeah, why don't you grow a brain you... Make them big and smart enough and stick them in a cyborg body. Humanity is sooo going to be last years model.
  25. I visited Makeb once by accident. Didn't know touching my ships holo thingy would teleport me there. Fought and killed a number guys and critters, but felt outmatched (everybody seemed 3-4 levels higher than me, being level 46-47ish at the time). Completed a bonus mission but still has the main task ahead of me. Decided to finish the class story first before getting more side tracked by the post level 50 stuff.
