InExile is plotting to ruin Torment by making it turn-based
Gorth replied to khango's topic in Computer and Console
I found the BG's more complicated than complex (two different things for me). Hands up all those who regularly cast Eagles Splendor? It quickly boiled down to simple measures and countermeasures, hidden under a thick layer of unnecessary "junk", filling up spell lists and inventories with little or never used stuff (making it complicated rather than complex). One of the few things the system did right, was it actually allowed you to use positioning to some effect in some encounters. Otherwise it was a matter of buff, strip enemy spell caster of buffs, kill enemy spell caster, kill everything else. Magic was ridiculously powerful. Is voting done yet? If so, how did it turn out?- 343 replies

Time to put this thread on a diet... New version here

Food, glorious food! Start of old thread End of old thread You guys eat too much... No, seriously, made some "pasta bake" over the weekend (served with some nice white wine from the fridge). Delicious. It's just that it made me feel like I gained 20kg overnight Corn Chowder, huh? One of those things I need to google I suppose As for German cuisine, I always associated that with schnitzel, wurst and sauerkraut (all of which is delicious).

SW: The Old Republic - Episode VI (The Old Menace)

Speaking of my commando... only needed one last bit (loyalty chip) for his own HK droid. Went off and played HM Maelstroem Prison. Made it to the end. Right clicked on flashing grey box next to flashpoint exit doorway and thought all was good and walked through doorway. Guess what?... no HK part. Apparently just right clicking on box isn't enough. Probably one of those where you have to do it twice (once for open, once for pickup). I guess I have to do it again Tried my hand at the force ghost on Ilum (for the magenta crystal), just to test the waters so to speak. Hehe.... got my butt so royally kicked, I'm sure I still got blue and yellow bruises on my rear. I think I need to get at least another person, preferably two to help out with that one Other than that, it was an early Sunday spent mostly walking a few toons through various flashpoints. Generally easier at those times for the sheer number of people playing and queuing. Splurged a bit on the GTN and completed my collection of ride-able animals (added the Dewback to the Varactyls and Zeldrate). Edit: Spent some time in the supplies section of Fleet and checked what my commendations can buy me (now and later the elite and ultimate ones). Frankly, it sucks. I wonder who thought a tank needs criticals, accuracy, surge and what have you? I want damage mitigation, not being a jack of all trades and master of none. Feels like an effin bard.- 505 replies

"Community Manager"... isn't that just a professional scapegoat who gets to deal with disgruntled forumites ravings and rantings and occasionally share news that upper management has cleared for release? Not really "people management"

describing it In six words... that's a bit of a challenge I still find it strange that people keep referring to different ethnic groups as "races" (since technically we are all the of the race homo sapiens, sub group homo sapiens sapiens). As for my native Denmark, until 50 years ago, it was very much a monoethnic, monocultural society (with a small German minority living in the south). Now I live and work with an eclectic mix of Aussies, Kiwis, Poms, Americans, Fijians, South Africans, Dutch, fellow Scandinavian, Philippine, Malaysian, Chinese and Indonesians. Sometimes working together with people from Singapore, Russia, Canada and what have you. The world is getting smaller.

That must be how artists feel sometimes. Doesn't matter if it's painting, song or theatre. That moment where everything comes together in ways you can't rehearse, nor repeat and you know you just did something unique and non-repeatable. Did you take a picture of the whiteboard?

Hmm... not a backer, so I don't get a vote. Turn based would be my preference when/if I decide to buy the game after release. I played X-Com 3 Apocalypse not long ago (at least I think that was the one) where space bar would skip enemy movement (or rather fast forward it) bringing goons from start of turn position to either end of turn position or stop if engaging in combat It worked most excellently. Don't care about watching enemy movement animation, hit space bar a few times. Want to get a better look at what direction enemies are arriving from, watch one or two enemies (and then fast forward the rest). Would also interrupt FF if suddenly popping into view of one of your squaddies (because of overwatch fire). But then, X-Com 3 together with JA2 does have some of the most fun turn based combat out there.

Just an opinion (so please take it as that), "streamlining" is not about reaching a specific target audience, it's about reaching as large an audience as possible. It's the good old quantity versus quality debate. Do you have a specific vision that you are itching to realize or do you have a burning hole in your wallet that needs fixing.

SW: The Old Republic - Episode VI (The Old Menace)
Gorth replied to Gorth's topic in Computer and Console
Indeed. I already got him once, but as said, wanted the republic side covered too. Then I've probably had it with scouring Hoth and Temple Grounds for bits and pieces Ah, so I could have gotten him from the Hoth or Belsavis world bosses. It was a while ago and I just emailed it to my Sith warrior who hung unto it until he had the required Artifice skill to learn the schematic. As for 'proc'... no little wonder it confused me if it doesn't have a single, but multiple uses In completely unrelated news, my smuggler girl is now level 50. Decent timing when starting out on Belsavis, as Section X is just around the corner when going there anyway. Having a bit of spare time last night, I started a new character on Harbinger and played a Sith warrior up to level 10 and chose marauder as advanced class. Time to get serious about my broad chested, dual axe wielding barbarian. I know, I had a Jedi Sentinel in mind originally, but honestly, the fire effect is just more impressive looking on a barbarian Since nobody in my guild has any high level republic toons, I'm still considering moving my commando to that server too. Covering more ground that way.- 505 replies

Thanks A bit confusing since people use the word both as a verb and a noun (i.e. 'to proc' and 'a proc').- 505 replies

No worries. As said, never seen a +33. I've got +16 and +41 magenta schematics (so far) I wonder if somebody can enlighten me about terminology? What the heck is a 'proc'??? As far as I can determine from context, it seems to be something people use to describe the triggered effects that occurs while in combat.- 505 replies

SW: The Old Republic - Episode VI (The Old Menace)
Gorth replied to Gorth's topic in Computer and Console
Actually, they seem to be used for all levels. The link also gave me the answer what I needed the "shock frozen" water for that I ended up with in my inventory one day running around doing GSI missions I've never seen a +33 schematic, but I got the 3 mid level schematics (endurance, power and critical) and a single higher level schematic. I think it dropped from a HM flashpoint. Not sure if visible on screenshot of my Sith Warrior (rather dark image), but they also come in +41 versions. I might have to get a few guys together and see if I can get that last magenta crystal bit for a slightly less popular/unusual colour.- 505 replies

That's what I usually do. Create a "mine field" in the hallways and then lure small groups of the guys to chase after you. It doesn't necessary kill the all, but those that survive will be weakened enough to be disposed of easily. You only need to get rid of enough to actually open the door and escape, not wipe the entire level (because your main character will arrive after Mira has left and he/she can mop up without breaking a sweat and collect any loot).

SW: The Old Republic - Episode VI (The Old Menace)
Gorth replied to Gorth's topic in Computer and Console
I'm probably a bit old fashioned and wanted "earn" my HK (just like the Tauntauns I've collected, got 5 of them so far). I promised myself to play through the quest line once as Imperial and once as Republic. After that, I might be tempted to trow CC coins at him... if I want more HK's at all. Besides, almost all the digging is done and I only need the Dromund Kaas one for completing that bit of the quest, leaving the two FP's and a revisit to the beginning to assemble the parts. Unity is worth its weight in gold. I give that one part of the credit for me being able to solo a Kingpin at level 18. I still feel like face palming for getting my trooper and bounty hunter over the proverbial finishing line together as their bonus is redundant (doesn't stack). Just to change subject, I've found a place on Alderaan where those purple crystals grow and when going there anyway for GSI missions, I visit the spot and pick one up. Got a handful now. I know I need to do something with them, but not quite sure what. My guess would be Tyhon and/or Korriban (since magenta crystals is an artifice thing, very jedi/sith like), but I don't remember seeing anything there that could process crystals?- 505 replies

SW: The Old Republic - Episode VI (The Old Menace)
Gorth replied to Gorth's topic in Computer and Console
Short version: No. Long version: The game has 8 "base" classes, 4 imperial and 4 republic classes. Some of them force users, some of them not. 1 of the base classes has the "force lightning" capability. Each base class can then specialize in one of two "advanced" class when reaching level 10. In reality, the 4 imperial and 4 republic classes are "mirror" images of each other, so there are 4 play styles (8 when it comes to advanced classes). Each of the 8 base classes has it's own main story line through the game though. The class for Palpatine wannabes (force lightning) is 'Sith Inquisitor'. At level 10 you can then chose between sorcerer or assassin advanced class. All force users can use lightsabers, but you wont get it before you get close to level 10.- 505 replies
