Heh, I checked my character sheet and my Powertech bought those relics a long time ago. Just didn't add them to the shortcuts as they had no "use". I.e. being automatically triggered when equipped and certain criteria are met (boosting absorption rating etc.). Played a bit with my smuggler today. Made it to Hoth and met what I suspect is the last companion. Languss Tuno... seriously Bioware, how bad can the puns be? I honestly read that as Langouste Tuna (and he looks like a hybrid fish/crustacean no less)- 505 replies

I farm them for the weekly bit and to send a bit of better gear to toons that may level up some day (the drops being level late 20 to early 30 gear). It takes less than 10 minutes per boss and a fringe benefit of my timezone... nobody is around to have already killed the bosses Not kidding though, for whatever reason, the drops are truly random in whether they are bound or not. I've had the same item drop twice from same boss and once being bound and once unbound. Implants and ear pieces are serial offenders (and not transferable through above legacy gear trick). Maybe it's a bug? One thing I did notice about purple armour mods though, once bound to an armour piece, you can only use it in a "same" piece. I.e. chest -> chest, legs -> legs etc. Edit: About selling WB loot, the only loot sold for credits so far has been stuff that was bound and unusable (will and strength impants/pieces). It got sold for a handful credits to my repair droid vendor...- 505 replies

Not sure about Section X. I should have paid better attention, just finished the "weekly" there today >_ I'm a bit "slow", so I haven't really started on the Makeb, Oricon and Czerka stuff yet. Remember, main guy only just finished class story (for which he was way, way over leveled) I just thought it better to use the basic coms on "something". Didn't see any must have schematics, relics or anything, so might as well splurge a bit. It's not like I can send the coms to alts. That being said, I did try the bind to legacy "cheat" though a few times. For some reason, some of the world boss drops are bind on pick up and some are bind on equip (seemingly random and inconsistent). Quite a nifty way of smuggling mods between toons, even if the mod claims to be bound to character (when ripped from a bind on pickup piece)- 505 replies

I hope you're right. It cost me around 100K credits to "refurbish" the armour mods. The modification mods didn't have better alternatives as no "letter" versions of the agility mods seems generally available. I think I remember seeing them for lower level tiers though. I hope Tanno Vik appreciates his shiny new purple armour mods (he is my main travel companion, so I guess it's not a complete waste, he *is* doing the tanking for me when playing). Also started upgrading my Powertechs mods. I hadn't thought about it previously, but those bucketloads of basic commendations I've accumulated could actually be traded for something, so I started buying armour pieces to rip mods out of and move into his favourite armour. It's only marginally better, but it's a quick and dirty way to give a companion some good "hand me down" mods and equip my tank in (69) mods. Still several armour pieces to go though, so time to go basic commendation hunting I guess (not that I really remember where the 400 or so I had came from). Even managed to find a few people to team up with this afternoon to complete Section X and Black Hole weekly (and finally get rid of them from my outstanding class quest priority mission stuff).- 505 replies

My tank *is* level 55 and has been for a while (successfully completed a few HM flashpoints too, if nothing else, just to get HK) My healer is level 53, just a few xp from level 54, so he's getting there way too fast too... Interesting thing about aim, didn't know that. I shouldn't have given my Commando commando mods then, who would have thought (not me, that's for sure, not knowing any better I would leave him in commando mods and then try to boost power)? Nothing that can't be undone as I craft them myself. A companion can get the old mods. Is alacrity worth getting at all then? Edit: It's a strange thing with the level progression, the late 40's feels like they take forever, then you hit the "magic" level 50 and so many more avenues for xp opens up (GSI, binocular, dreadseed, heroic space missions etc.) and you almost get catapulted to level 55 whether you want it or not.- 505 replies

Begeren Colony, sadly. It was the non-choice choice, the default if you didn't chose a destination for your characters (which I didn't for most of my characters at the time). I have a few characters on Harbinger, but nothing above level 12, although I do intend to play there more in the future, just to see if there are more Apac people around. The population seems much larger than Begeren in general, so who knows? More of the Apac locals here may have chosen that as a destination (and in a pinch, that one *is* actually an option for character transfers if I want to cut corners and transfer one or two level 50+ characters). Since I've mostly geared (and specced) my two main characters as healer and tank respectively, I still haven't added a single augment (added the slots, but not the augments yet). There seems to be some kind of science behind the proportions between the various mod types. I.e. for a Powertech tank, what is the desirable distribution into defense, shield and absorption and for a Commando healer, what should I be aiming for in critical, surge and alacrity? I sort of intend to acquire augments to fine tune those values where possible. They are otherwise equipped in the best you can get without having done end game raids or cheating by buying them ready made from GTN (i.e. purple 66 mods/barrels), to provide a decent starting point for the easy mode/beginner ops stuff.- 505 replies

The Glenfiddich 12 year old is excellent for Irish Coffee. Get some decent brewed coffee from fresh ground beans, some real cream (not whipped) and some light brown sugar (a bit of molasses, but not too much)

I would love to take you up on your offers guys, but back when we got kicked out of our home, we could chose to move characters to any (non Apac) server. I started out with sending a low level character to a bunch of servers, US West Coast, US East Coast and Europe (including Red Eclipse). Sadly none of them had good latency (i.e. "lag"), but the west coast servers were the least bad. Even if I wanted to, I don't think the normal character transfer allows for intercontinental transfers (the Apac migration being abnormal as it allowed migration of any and all characters, even those below level 10)- 505 replies

Congrats, that can't have been cheap. Not sure I would have done it if I hadn't already gotten the majority of the parts in the hypercrate (IIRC, I only needed the gloves for a complete set). I would like to just try an operations some day. As usual, timezone is a major stumbling block (not something I would try first time through GF)- 505 replies

I know they were optional flashpoints, but yes, they did make me cringe a bit A shame, as they were otherwise quite well done with some interesting encounters and "bosses" right up until the end. I guess they belong to the category "thought experiment" or better yet, "pretend it never happened". I find Colonel Daksh more of a pain to fight than HK as more often than not, people are not aware of the purpose of the crates (to break LOS when he starts targeting people with laser optics). You can try to explain it to people and still wipe a few times before they grudgingly start taking cover behind the crates.- 505 replies

I'm in a slightly similar situation Raithe... no burning urge to go on to those places yet, rather finish some of the other character story lines. Next time??? I think I'm going to send my trooper and my smuggler girl back on a visit. I can't remember if I need to pick up a heroic to get access to the room, but even if, it should be easy enough, being level 53 and 44 respectively- 505 replies

I prefer a decent whiskey in my Irish Coffee. 12 years minimum. No instant coffee either, thank you very much. Otherwise, I'm not much of a whiskey person, preferring Cognac. Part of my weekend ritual is to indulge in a generous glass of a local XO brand (a by product of the local wine industry down here). Very decent stuff. Other than that little luxury, alcohol intake is usually limited to Friday afternoon beer at work and the monthly "Friday Night Drinks" (which also includes more food than you can shake a stick at). Various beers, wines and spirits.

I don't think he ever claimed to be form Ireland... Since I had the Deus Ex game and the first DLC, "Human Revolution" was only $4.99 so into my shopping cart it went. One of those games I really need to play some day (deliberately not reading alanschu's let's play thread).

Yeah, tried it three times so far. I get up on top of it, but it seems like you have to land on the edges of it. My character lands on the little "spire/antenna" thing in the middle of the kiosk, do some weird on the spot animations and is magically teleported down to ground level. Didn't have the patience to wait for it to float by a 4th time to see if I could hit the flat parts better Edit: I assume it's the kiosk I have to jump onto, but that's based on what I overheard on general chat. I think I got the Taris ones and the Balmorra ones except one. Never figured out how to get the one in the Colicoid queens nest. It just sits there and mocks me with being plainly visible and not accessible. I assume its some round about way like the one under the medical center on Taris. Some day, I'll stumble upon the start of the path it. On Alderaan, I need to get to the one that looks like it's up on the dam wall. Haven't found any on Belsavis or Corellia yet (spent too little time there being the noob I am).- 505 replies

On a completely unrelated note, finally got the datacrons on Tattooine yesterday (for my Sith Warrior). Whoever came up with those ideas has a perverse sense of humour. Shared first part of the balloon ride with a pair of jedis. At least I think they both were. Both got tired after only a few minutes (I suspect it must have been night time whereever they were). Anyway, found a relative safe "procedure" for my Sith Warrior to jump down to the strength datacron. There was much relief not having to do that one again anytime soon. Still haven't found a single one on Nar Shaddaa (I know where one is, but I just can't find a foothold on the floating thing).- 505 replies

"Sounds like a plan"... Since my Bounty Hunter and Trooper between them has done almost all heroics (except Corellia and the mutually exclusive ones on Balmorra), current and future characters are going to skip heroics in general, unless it has some very desirable loot (mostly "orange" weapon and armour pieces). It's going to be character stories and planetary quessts. I generally enjoy flashpoints, the fun bits outweighing the occasional **** you run across in the random groups.- 505 replies

Gorth... that is 'MacRoth'. Pretty much the look and armour from when he had his old name (only change is a new hair cut after the new styles became available). Together with the sexiest Houk this side of the core worlds. Close up of the "paint job" (stock face paint option from character generation. I sort of liked it, so I stuck with the hide head gear option This is the idea I had for my sniper... But even from the front you can easily spot the graphical error. This eyesore is then what I would have spent most of my time looking at. Not pretty (I don't think anyone can convince me the patchwork above is by design). So, I put him back in his Black Talon trench coat and German "Africa Corps" cap. My other characters are relatively "boring", using either dropped moddable armour or self made through synthweaving/armourmech.- 505 replies

"gunslinger" I like your grey bearded guardian. What's the armour the Vanguard's wearing, is that some of those "event" reward pieces? @Spider: Is it just my imagination or has your guy gained a bit of weight? I think I got the skull mask in my ship storage bay, not "consumed" and bound to my account yet. Edit: Finally finished chapter 3 with my Powertech today. Then got sent off to Ilum. Edit2: How do people take screenshots of their characters outside the preview window? The only way I can get them to stand still when rotating the camera is if they are stuck in a dance loop (and the look somewhat silly dancing for the camera).- 505 replies
