Y'know they don't develop games out of thin air. We are happy that they will earn enough to have the freedom they need to create more games on their own.. plus if it sales well enough it might shift the industry towards a better direction.

It is really similar to D:OS but they created a better system. It's a breath of fresh air that makes the game experience more personal and interesting and creates a better replay value plot wise ...

New engine = new bugs again. I prefer that they will keep using this one at least for the sequel.

So we can assume that minus the backers plus the sales from GOG It sold at least double the amount of D:OS(100000) in its' first week so it might sell better overall and they will get at least between 500000 to 1000000 copies after a year like D:OS . At least they probably won't need to lay off workers again...

OMG somebody posted something I didn't like on the Internet ... You probably have never been in a real Dictatorship if so you would have noticed that the first thing the government does is banning artists and journalists from showing controversial things. In some of those countries people are being beheaded for talking against the government while the newspapers and TV are only allowed to show how good everything is and how everyone are happy under the leadership. If you think this game should change thank you for helping making the US a better democracy by trying to do the same thing to artists that makes computer games. Freedom of speech>> ones personal feeling and there is no connection to civil rights in any way.

There is a great response to those kinds of posters... You just need to divert the fire to someplace else ,there are worse games out there ,for example GTA is going to release on PC soon so you just need to tell them that it is well accepted that mature games have gore and death in them and that in this game it was an integral part of the plot and it wasn't there for the sake of it being there so that it is not the same issue as with games like GTA in which you are encouraged to kill people for fun. I would go further and suggest that if they believe violence should be limited in computer games they should start to tweet against games like GTA and not POE.

Didn't read this thread but I just want to say that this is what happens when you give up to one idiot on the Internet. Now there are thousands of them that are just scouting the game ,searching for everything controversial they could tweet about. I posted about it after the transphobic tweet thing and said it will start a dangerous path in which anyone who doesn't like something in the game will try to change it and now my prophecy is coming to life!

You can't compare that situation to the lives Transsexuals are having in the USA today. No one in the west is teaching individuals from young age that Trans' are not human. Okay so how about this. I'm Jewish, the stereotypes that modern Jewish jokes are based on essentially formed arguments that led to the murder of 6 million Jews. IE Jews are greedy, Jews have lots of money, Jews are deceptive etc. etc. Yet I would not want them to be censored because I know that a joke is not the same as actual hate speech. If actual hate speech against jews was common and encouraged by society (ie. if you actually lived in Nazi Germany), how would you feel about people making jokes about the jews? I think that's an extreme example because it's hard to imagine a Jewish joke in Nazi Germany NOT being hate speech. But let's be honest, modern day America is nowhere close to Nazi Germany when it comes to Trans people. Yes, there are still hateful bigots out there, but there aren't exactly death camps. Is discrimination only bad when it gets to the point of people getting put in death camps? South Parks' creators for example are spoofing almost everything that exists and yet they are doing it because that way they can criticize the western society and they have the freedom of speech on their side... For example this game is not intended for children ,the Nazis had kindergarten books that showed that Jews had tails and that Africans are slaves and every young German had tests in which he had to identify a persons' origin by his look and character (smart blond individuals with blue hair are Nazis ,black and stupid are Africans and so on)... In this game there is only a mentioning of someone who is an idiot ,the game doesn't try to convince you that Transsexuals are a blight that should be condemned. This is the difference between art and racist propaganda. The first is meant for adult individuals who can think for themselves and doesn't try to convince them to think in a certain way (but sometimes tries to shock them enough to make them think or discuss about the subject) The second will try to convince anyone to act in a certain way and to believe in certain things and discourage free thinking or open discussion about the subject.

Great ,Now they could make a new game that will have toilets in it and good AI and characters that can walk and sneak one at a time so all of us naggers in the forums will shut up. They will probably make around 2- 3 times that sum eventually so they might get enough money to develop two new games like Larian studios did with the money from D:OS.

Think about the possibility of crafting! You can add two different socks with different effects to create your ultimate pair and that way you can still play with one slot! furthermore ,the game will have another meaningful decision to make! It reminds me of the lich in Watcher Keep in BG2 TOB ,he was very angry and attacked you unless you gave him his slippers so his legs won't get cold while he sleeps.

You know ,I am a jew and my family have suffered greatly from the holocaust (my grandma lost her mind a while after surviving the death camps and my mother had a trauma for life from having to cope with her in her childhood and had some mental issues herself ,and BTW it's a very common phenomena among the second generation of the Nazi death camp survivors ) And yet somehow I am still playing Wolfenstein . The fact that there are Nazis/terrorists/homophobes/killers/rapists in games isn't bad and needs to be cherished because art and story telling is another way of remembering and acknowledging that these kind of things do exist and that we are not living in some fairytale universe and that sometimes humans are pretty evil. As long as you are not getting to play a Nazi that kills jews for fun I won't be offended and even then I won't try to ban/change the game or to hurt it's sells ,but try to educate others about the sensitivity of the matter (Changing the game will only create backfire and more publication and that won't help). Those oversensitive transsexuals shouldn't try to bully anyone ,if they think it will help (and I think it won't) they should open a discussion about that on the gaming media. But honestly I think that they are over reacting and shouldn't be offended at all. (Great now I can get back into complaining about the lack of toilets in CRPGs and keep posting stupid videos ,I hate stupid politics)

Wonderful ,that means that the industry does recognize the relative success of this game. It might shift the balance even more towards the development of smarter role playing games! BTW ,another sign that shows that many people really liked this game is the newfound success of NVN2 in GOG ,people who loves this game are now searching for other Obsidians' titles so the game is now number 6 in GOG. Maybe now we will have a new DnD titles as well!

No it's hard to take a poster seriously when he posts that the lack of walk toggle makes the game unfinished or how that the RPG system SUCKS!!!!!!!!! It is OK to criticize everything ,but it is not OK to insult or to post offensive posts . When posters made polite posts and explained themselves well they did got polite answers and discussions even if they thought this game was bad. And there are also some individuals that can't grasp the fact that their opinions are not the only valid ones in existence. It is just impossible for them to understand that many players loved a game that they didn't and they will try to find any excuse they can for the good reviews or the commercial success just to prove that their taste is the only one that matters.

No ,don't make this game like Dragon age with all of it's stupid hand holdings! But yes I do agree that it might make the lore and survival skills more useful. Just don't make it possible early in the game so we can enjoy the sense of danger ,but it might also provide a strategic advantage later on when you are fighting a group of enemies as you will prefer to kill those with the lower levels first.

And I think that this system is great and refreshing ,I am tired of the regular attributes that exist in nearly every game in existence. I also think that you and others just need to get used to it as it is more intuitive to someone who never played D&D than the regular attributes. There are other design choices that I don't like but this one is very good IMO.

Don't listen to the haters ,start with POE then regular BG and import your character to regular BG2 with the expansion TOB.
