  1. I cringe at the sole thought of that. I would rather you didn't mention that particular subject, the existance of midi-chlorians, or the name 'Ja-Jar Binks', if we are to keep it civil. Thank you. I believe I finally understand what you are looking for. I think what you seek is a gauge of 'Jedi-worth', which ranks Revan at X, Yoda at Y, and Vader at Z. I don't think there is such a thing in the SW universe though. However that is not what the topic was about. I seem to have misunderstood you from the beginning. I just wonder if rising the level cap was Obsidian's idea or instead a LA requirement. These people are developing NWN2 after all, so I'm guessing they are pretty familiar with the D20 system. And anyone who knows the D20 system knows that messing with it at the core usually yields unpredictable results. Oh no... I'm hijacking the thread again!
  2. It's the fabled C.R.E.A.M. factor...
  3. Sorry, but that couldn't have happened. Keep in mind that the storyline of the game is revised by LA, so if something is absurd or misfitting (an ewok slaughtering dark Jedi), it's changed until it fits the SW universe. In the SW universe, only really powerful characters can kill dark Jedi, and it takes much muscle to bring down a Sith Lord. But it doesn't really matter what their actual stats were; storywise, Revan killed a lot of dark Jedi and Sith apprentices aboard the SF. Since the new Sith Lords rise to fill the power vacuum left by Malak, it's only logical to assume they were weaker than Malak and (I know this is bound to draw flak) even Darth Bandy himself. Hence, we will get a new character whose power matches those challenges. Well, Malak was a Jedi once and probably was well aware of the capabilities of both the SF droids and the Jedi. But following your reasoning, nothing in the game could prove how powerful Revan really was, short of Yoda appearing and claiming 'a bad muthaf*cka you are', and then running in terror. Note that I'm not implying Revan is more powerful than any other character in the SW universe. I just say, most likely, Revan will be more powerful than the TSL PC, if only because he/she has had more time to hone on his/her abilities.
  4. Right. But Vader's stats were designed after the character we see in the movies, as a 'marker' from which to judge other characters' power. You need something to compare to. I'm giving you that something, it's your choice to ignore it altogether though. You know, there is no need for a player to reach the level cap in a CRPG. If it was designed in such a manner you actually reached the cap, there must be a reason. I may be wrong, but I'd say it's a storywise reason. You are missing my whole point. What I meant is, if the character hadn't been Revan, the big fights wouldn't have been so big. If the PC had been an ewok the devs wouldn't have designed fights in which you kill a dozen dark Jedi, because that would have been ridiculous. You may choose to disregard as well that Revan was a mean killing machine at the end of KotOR, but the facts are there. There's one more fact to back this up. Maybe you remember Malak's comments about how he thought no Jedi could survive an attack by the SF battle droids. Well, Revan destroyed the droids too. You can argue that Malak was a self-deluded fool, but then I'm afraid no argument can change your mind. Very good point. It was stated in the game that Exar Kun was far more powerful than any of the following Sith Lords. It'd be awful if the TSL PC turned out to be more powerful than Exar Kun.
  5. Single blue lightsaber for LS. It's a classic. For the DS... who needs a weapon anyway?
  6. It is the way of the Sith that the strong must rule, and the weak must die. Revan ruled until Malak's betrayal, so it's safe to assume that Revan was the strongest of the bunch. That alone would make him/her more powerful than all of the Jedi that followed him/her. It is also an obvious fact that Malak was scared as hell of dealing with Revan face to face, before and after the memory loss. Malak sucked as a strategist, from what you can gather through the game. That doesn't mean he's not an extremely powerful force user. Once I saw Malak's WotC PnP stats (on the Star Forge), and believe me, he's mean, even more so than Vader himself. And yet he was effortlessly owned in the end. By guess who... Revan. " Revan was strong in the Force, you have admitted that yourself. Yoda says: "my ally is the Force, and a powerful ally it is.", and we all know how much ass Yoda can kick if needed. Revan was able to cut down a lot of dark Jedi, Sith apprentices, and elite soldiers just to get to Malak. He smacked the sh*t out of Malak even despite Malak's exploiting of the Star Forge. I agree, any PC would have been able to do that to get the plot moving, but it's not any PC we are talking about, it's Revan. The PC is the center of an epic story, and that PC is none other than Revan. The characters epic stories develop around are called legends. That alone is what makes him/her so powerful.
  7. Huh? At the official LA site it says Dec 6. What are you talking about?
  8. Heh. I just hope they find out that rising the level cap is too buggy... "
  9. Huh. Wouldn't that imply Revan was slaughtered as well? I can't think of anything worse to the plot than having all the cast from KotOR killed for TSL (well... except for memory loss maybe ). These characters are an appeal to the game, hence they sell games. The devs know that.
  10. This is important, I agree. But not so important as to open 4 more threads.
  11. Right. IMO in this story Revan is top dog, much like Mace Windu and Yoda are in the movies. There were other powerful Jedi, but there was something about those two which indicated that Jedi don't come any more powerful than that. Even Luke can't be compared to them. It would be pretty inconsequential if the PC became more powerful than the almighty Revan in much less time. Also, I believe it's safe to assume the new Sith Lords won't be as powerful as Malak was, since they occupy the power vacuum left after his death, as far as we know there is not a clear master, and on top of that, Malak had the Star Forge to drain power from. So, new less powerful villains for a less powerful PC. That makes sense to me. As long as the story and character development are well threaded, I will settle for a non-godly PC. There is no need for an uber-powerlamer PC in order to have fun you know...
  12. I don't know about that. For me part of the fun of every game is not only learning about the story... but figuring out how to play it on my own. Oh well, I suppose not everyone is like me.
  13. From what I heard, Exar Kun seems to be the perfect example of a Sith Lord hellbent on causing as much trouble as he could, even after death. No time to repent when you are so close to corrupting that Skywalker kid...
  14. Heh, after all this is 4000 years before EPI... no wonder it looks outdated. ^_^
  15. Yep, I believe it's just that since the Xbox is to some extent a capped PC. Because of that, it's not too much work to have an Xbox version of a PC game. Even though there are PS2 games that have been ported to the PC, I think that, for some reason, it's much easier to port a PS2 game to the PC than the other way around. However it is possible that Billy boy has something to do with it, but I don't think so. And I'm a PS2 owner. BTW, a large variety of regular PC HDs are compatible with the PS2, If I'm not mistaken, it can take up to 80 GB disks. I saw a list of compatible disks once... there sure was a lot of them.
  16. Surely you have heard of the spoiler tag haven't you?
  17. Force abilities don't really work as in the JK saga or even KotOR. Force users don't receive 'new powers' as they 'level up'. That's a gameplay fix. Unlike light side abilities, most dark side abilities can be used to some degree without ever having used them and without any training. All you have to do is give in to anger or whatever. That is why the dark side is so tempting and difficult to resist. Do you think any Jedi would train in the use of Force lightning? lol... And about the color of his saber, It looks purple to me. The landscape of Geonosis was pretty reddish too, but it never affected the color of lightsabers. My guess is it's got something to do with the color adjustments of the game, or maybe it's just the game isn't totally polished yet.
  18. In the D20 the greatest asset of a tech specialist was his ability to construct items at a much lower cost than its market price, provided access to components was available. With a well planified tech specialist a party wouldn't have to worry about credits, and could even obtain items not available through normal means. However I doubt this ability will be included since it would undoubtedly lead to powerlaming... I just hope Bao-Dur won't turn out to be a 'recruit and forget' type character as it happened with T3.
  19. The man has a point. There is a SW title for any genre you can think of, each with its own nice stuff. If I had to choose one by hours spent playing it, it would be the JK series, but only because of the MP mode. Otherwise, Yoda Stories > all.
  20. No, that's not her. I'm pretty sure she sounds like Salome Jens who played the female shapeshifter in Star Trek DS9. I wonder if whoever has made the voiceover for the page has worked in the actual game as well.
  21. Right. Darth Vader Dark Lord of the Sith shouldn't have a lightsaber either. The Sith are an offshoot of the Jedi so they can have lightsabers alright.
  22. You people just can't wait for this game to come out, can you? I'd rather not know more about the NPCs than their names, so I'll just wait for the game to come out. Anyway I don't like having more than two Jedi at a given moment so I'll probably go for PC & apprentice/mentor and whoever has the richest lines.
  23. Well... the Emperor at least HAS a dental plan. Malak wasn't so lucky. Isn't he just sexy...
  24. Okay, so Mira is a bounty hunter, but... is that her class? Bounty hunter was a prestige class for soldiers in the D20, so I'm not that sure she will actually be that class.
  25. No, they lack the martial proficiency to use lightsabers as a result of not having received regular training. It's as if they develop the Force abilities on their own. In the D20 you needed a very good reason to convince the GM to let you get the lightsaber martial proficiency if you were playing a Force adept, so if that class is included in the game, I doubt it will have access to that feat, just like a soldier can't get it.
