  1. And just where would the benchmark be set to ensure that it would be neither too easy to pass the test nor too elitist? A "Service grants citizenship" system also makes sure that everyone is perfectly aware of the value that political privileges have, and that those who want them are willing to work to earn them. Serving is exactly the same work for somebody raised with little academic chances as it is for a degree graduate, as I believe that everyone should have the same opportunities to earn those privileges provided they have the will to.
  2. I actually agree with this. Particularly, I'm thinking of something similar to Heinlein's take on the matter in Starship Troopers.
  3. Huh? Did DA2 have any better parts? I thought it was pretty uniform in its level of suckage.
  4. *sticks fingers in ears* Lalalalala... I'm not listening!
  5. That's pretty much it. I believe she thought that sacrificing the whole Jedi order (barring herself) was a fair price to pay (and in her own eyes the only way) in exchange for rooting out the source of the threat. But I didn't think she was evil. Just confused and deluded. Nah. You only say that because Atris is exactly the complete opposite of Exar Kun. Unpredictable, with a deep, complex and credible personality, an interesting background, and most importantly, not relying on Sith crap to grant her uber 1337 powers of d00m. The only thing I didn't like about her part of the plot was how the whole issue was resolved in the LS path. It just doesn't make sense to just leave her there to her fate (perhaps even allowing her to fall further) if your PC has been seeking redemption the whole game. She should have had a hand in the endgame, perhaps dying in a blaze of glory, saving the PC's ass somehow, or whatever. Lots of dramatic potential wasted there. Otherwise, her subplot was one of the strong points of the game, IMO.

  7. There are Japanese troops on Iraq IIRC. They abducted a Jap and threatened to kill him unless the troops were withdrawn. He was executed.
  8. Hmm. Didn't their moms tell them not to take candy from strangers...?
  9. I suggest you open up a new thread about this. Not everyone that could be interested would read this thread. I suggest you open up a new thread about this. That way the irreversible brain damage could be contained.
  10. I'm Spanish, so no. I'm not associated in any way with the US military. And I wasn't discounting the French military. It was a general comment about some European countries that have disbanded their armies, not France specifically.
  11. It's hard to be belligerant when you don't even have an army... "
  12. "I dun't understund thees threed."
  13. You should learn to read. If per some chance you live in a country where this skill is a luxury, I'm sure there must be some kind of humanitarian aid program to promote adult literacy. Um, come think if it, if you are posting here you are probably not in one of those countries (which makes it even more bleeding) and you obviously aren't an adult. I'm going to clear this up for you, but it's the last time. I have never said that the Ep3 game is better than the original JK. I was talking about game mechanics. You may reply when your balls drop.
  14. OH NOES!!!1 Foiled again!
  15. There is proof of this, you know. The last Iraqi elections had a HUGE participation, even though the baddies had threatened to bomb the electoral sites, killing anyone that supported the change.
  16. No, I don't think they did. But then again, they didn't have suicide bombers. And the actions of resistance or terrorist groups doesn't really change the military/administrative reality of a territory. Iraq, just like France was, is an occupied territory. Only them clever Amerikans have made friends with some of the locals and let them take a great deal of the heat. Oh, wait. I think they did something similar in France, too. " It's the same example people always bring up for the simple reason that they can't accept that while contrary to what we would like to believe, might does make right. Always has, and I'm hard pressed not to say it always will. But hey, I can't see the future yet.
  17. Oh, but I would never contribute to this fine thread being locked. No, no. Never...
  18. Obviously they do. Sales speak for themselves. Remember that we are in the minority.
  19. Funny. I guess that Germany didn't conquer France, either.
  20. My apologies then. But if you didn't expect me to get it, why did you make the joke in the first place? Another Swedish in-joke?
  21. Well, I only have two hands. So I guess I won't kill myself just yet, as surely you don't expect me to quit drinking my vodka. Anyway, you seem to have an excess of testosterone. How about you go donate a testicle or something?
  22. Good point. Oh, wait. The US de-facto conquered Iraq. I guess that, as always, might makes right. Stick that in your pipe and smoke it.
