  1. Mitsoda's reaction is not something you see every day. Not good news.
  2. From what I can gather, your PC doesn't meet the minimum requirements. From the Steam page: It seems that both your GPU and CPU are below minimum specs. The game may be optimized as time goes on and patches are released, but I wouldn't count on minimum specs being lowered further.
  3. I'm sure that random generational putdowns, random racial putdowns, random gender putdowns and random political putdowns have nothing to do with the climate of extreme division facing murica and more broadly speaking, the West. Nope, completely unrelated. Keep it up guys, useful exchanges are ephemeral but internets points are forever.
  4. I am the drama. A guy gets chewed out for missing a dps check or failing a tank mechanic, and you think that of me? No. I am the one who kicks him out of the raid! I get what you mean. I've been involved in some pretty toxic **** and made a commitment to avoid that. Whenever there's even a whiff of that, I just gtfo. I've had some luck finding raid groups that were fairly drama-free, but it's not always the case. You just gotta learn to smash that eject button hard and fast. I am not about to babysit (nominal) adults.
  5. But at least they ain't dying from corona! Around here it's going to be getting worse, with numbers of cases possibly comparable to the 1st "wave" albeit not likely as many deaths. I doubt we'll get another lockdown no matter what because the risk of social instability is just too big, and we're guaranteed to see some sort of societal collapse* if the economic crisis gets any worse. So predictably numbers will be massaged and idiocies like wearing a mask in the shower or whatever will be pushed. *Somewhat relevant: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-020-63657-6 What was that about "listening to scientists", again?
  6. Last time I felt like OP was when I decided to replay the BG trilogy but faced the prospect of installing and configuring eleventy billion mods or playing vanilla (*shudder*). My backlog is made up of games I got for free, and one or two games I will get around to playing when my co-op partner is available. There are also some games I'd like to replay, but probably never will because I instead spend what free time I have in MMOs that I hate to varying degrees. I could seek help, but that would leave me with even less free time, which would in turn make me lag behind in the sempiternal hamster wheel, ultimately making the problem worse. My advice: stop worrying. You'll never play all games, watch all movies, and read all books. Throw away your checklist, and just play whatever tickles your fancy at the moment. Being productive isn't what a hobby is supposed to be about.
  7. Concealment/Scrapper has excellent single target burst nowadays. The vanish is still base 2 min, but that's plenty for PVP -- the idea is that you don't vanish more than once per fight because you can just go around the corner and rest heal yourself to full, and come back to troll them some more. Bioware also caught on about stealth rezzing and made just about every other boss "radiate" low raid-wide damage to pull you out of stealth to put a stop to that in phases where it would otherwise be workable. Still, It's the class with the single highest utility in both PVP and ops, with a raid buff, self-heals and stealth. It's pretty great right now. Hard(er) to play, compared to the other healers though (not sure about DPS). Mara is not very good right now, doing ~20% (!) less damage on bosses than the FOTM specs (PT and Lightning currently) while also being harder to play. I have to work about twice as much as on my jugg to pull similar numbers. Not that I care because I'm usually tanking, but still...
  8. Nah, it's essentially the same thing nowadays. Still need to be a subscriber to have uncapped credits, access to artifact equipment, hotbars, ability to use a mount, quicktravel, number of crew skills, access to ops and warzones and so on and so forth. They even added a new sidebar in the latest update that puts microtransactions literally in your face at least once every week, regardless of subscriber status. Thankfully, none of that is really necessary to just play through the base stories. And yeah, a Double XP event is probably the best time to do it because I'm not sure but I suspect F2P players also earn less XP.
  9. Yes. Unless you are for some reason interested in raiding or the PVP (and you'd have to be crazy), I would just recommend you quit while you're ahead and uninstall the whole thing after you've completed the original class stories. Expansion content beyond Shadow of Revan is just bad, fanfic level melodrama and the endgame gearing is a complete rng fiesta. Oh, and crafting is also broken.
  10. Bit of a misnomer. Only "good" by comparison to your peers who are all of the chaotic stupid denomination and can't seem to stop twirling their mustaches for long enough to realize that most of their "dark side" schemes are more self-defeating and hare-brained than anything. LS Sith Warrior is just someone who doesn't force choke his underlings because they dropped their car keys during a presentation, and who isn't offended by the idea that a defeated enemy can be useful for anything more than being stabbed with your lightsaber. LS Sith Warrior is perhaps best represented by the -also Biowarian but otherwise unrelated- quote: "You can either fight at my side or get crushed under my heel. But you will not stand in my way."
  11. I'm not sure what you mean by prefix -- are you referring to the "bugs" tag you added? I don't think those are mandatory. Regardless, new users without a certain number of posts have to wait until the content they post is read and approved by a moderator. It helps us keep the spam to a minimum. If you haven't seen the issues you have described here already reported elsewhere in the Tech Support forum or the Known Issues thread, feel free to write to support@obsidian.net, as well.
  12. I know you were responding to Vol. Sadly the devaluation of terms isn't exclusive to edge characters, and eliciting an emotional response rather than a rational one is increasingly the cornerstone of discussion, especially online. In person, discussion seems to be either dead or quickly devolving to fisticuffs, from my experience. Maybe I'm just reading too much into this -- that came off a bit preachier than I intended. And yes, it's usually societies with extreme poverty that also suffer endemic violence, so it's not clear cut. Generally the people being granted special protection are those being targeted specifically, rather than just anybody at risk of suffering random acts of violence, because it's known that the potential for loss of life due to systematic, organized persecution is much higher than that resulting from high levels of crime and poverty. Not to mention that citizens in countries with high levels of crime are under the protection of their respective states, nominally at least, if we are to have sovereign nations. However if it's the state targeting them, they cannot very well expect protection from it, and so seeking asylum is reasonable.
  13. Oh, come on. This is the kind of silliness that makes meshbacks want to "own the libs". Putting illegal aliens in trains (or planes) and sending them back is now a distinctly nazi policy? We already have Volourn. No need for everyone else to also crank the nonsense up to 11 too. By the way, people attempting to escape violence and people leaving due to economic factors are really two separate categories. The first one is already protected, and putting both on the same level is the kind of rhetorical turn that has led us to the current situation where people cannot seem to agree on anything and just shout slogans at each other.
  14. I guess it technically is. However I can't speak to the amount of content they are releasing, if any. Been away far too long.
  15. I'll be the first to admit that it's a damn shame that you stopped at Miranda do Douro rather than going all the way to Jávea in the east and Tarifa in the south. Alas. Not so sure about the food, though...
  16. May not be your cup of tea, but it's hardly a "waste" of resources, seeing as how it seems to be a commonly requested feature, and something similar games often have. I remember reading that it was considered for TOW but they decided against it because it's not exactly trivial to implement, and it's not really something that you can just tack on later and expect to work well. So I doubt fan input either way will change a big design decision that has in all likelihood already been made. Personally I have no problem with 1st person-only games, but it sucks for people who get motion sickness and that kind of thing.
  17. I'm back to Dungeons & Dragons Online after I found out that they are giving away all adventure packs and both expansions can be purchased for less than half a month's sub stipend.. Ah, the feeling of not having the faintest idea of what I'm doing in a game where I used to run high end content.
  18. Yes, well. You will excuse my cynicism if I don't take your interest at face value, and respectfully decline your request to do your research for you -- especially when you have not provided a similar comparative analysis for the countries whose supposed diversity you are using as a basis for your hypothesis. If you're genuinely interested, read up on the different cultures and empires that have risen and fallen in Greater India since antiquity, from the Vedic period to the Mughal empire. The Kushan empire that replaced Alexander's Indo-Greek successor kingdoms, and the fall of the Guptas to the Huns. The birth of Buddhism and the establishment of the Delhi Sultanate. The migratory movements from all over Asia into India of people fleeing the Mongols. The influence of the "Silk Road" phenomenon as the original cultural melting pot. India really is a fascinating place with a long, rich history next to which even Europe's own pales in comparison. But yeah, cute.
  19. True, if you disregard the fact that there's more than 100 different ethnic groups in Russia, and over 50 in China -- millions of people. India is literally, literally the most diverse country on earth, being home to thousands of ethnic groups and tribes with hundreds of languages. Compared to that, the US is a quaint little white ethnostate. Really, the convulsive decline of the West is just late-stage capitalism. No doubt we'll continue to see efforts to blame its failure on whatever, much like apparatchiks blamed the failure of communism on "saboteurs and anti-social elements". Doesn't change the facts none.
  20. Pretty sure it's been proven that in general masks don't protect the *wearer*. And yes, they do reduce overall airflow even if individual oxygen molecules can pass through the pores. I'd suggest he gets himself up to ~180 bpm and tries breathing with one on for an easy experiment. It's almost as if... one had nothing to do with the other and this idiot is just as bad as Ms. 195 IQ here. ****ing internet, I swear.
  21. Perhaps, though I would say that he isn't cautioning against diversity per se, but rather against what he argues are unfair (and borderline illegal?) forms of affirmative action. He doesn't make a single argument against diversity itself. I don't see the point of the video, other than perhaps as a source of income for the author. Those companies aren't going to change anything because they only rally to the cause du jour for optics -- they have no deeper ethical commitment. And those watching the video are most likely both powerless to effect change and already convinced.
  22. For once, I hardly think she's complaining about sexism. Her side of the story is that she was discriminated against on "disability" grounds, rather than sex. One might think it'd be reasonable to carry something resembling an official medical certificate exempting her from wearing a mask, but then there would be no story. Personally, it feels like a sad day in the forum when ktchong is the one keeping on topic and posting relevant stuff: Immunity to the coronavirus may last only a few months, UK study finds edit: the above refers to antibodies only. T and B cell-mediated immune response is also a factor, and it seems that more people have specific T cells that provide a degree of immunity than are testing positive for antibodies -- a 2:1 proportion from what I've read. The study mentioned above is also a preprint, with the usual caveats.
  23. That's far from the whole picture though. The success of peaceful Solidarity stems in part from the failures in Czechoslovakia and Hungary that weakened both the influence and resolve of the Soviet leadership to crush yet another anti-communist movement within its sphere of influence. Further, unlike in 1956 and 1968, by 1988 the Soviet Union was in economic dire straits and about to concede defeat in Afghanistan. Poland also received massive economic aid through the SEED act of '89 and the EBRD to become the market economy it is today. Not to mention that political unrest in communist Poland goes back at least two decades before the regime finally fell. I'm not trying to detract from the massive effort made by Poles to rebuild their country after communism, mind. But they had significant outside help. The underclass in the US don't have any. They barely even have political leaders that truly work for them.
  24. So you're one of them pound sign calexit folks, I take it? Good man.
