Yes I give you that, you're dedicated. Hmm, I think the best length should be ... 40-50 hours ( If I do everything on my first playthrough). And if the game is very storyfocused, I would say that 30-40 hours are enough (including side quests). It's more about replayability for me. 70 hours for one playthrough are too long and mostly the hours are filled with uneventful fights or way too long marches through the gameworld.

"Honey, it's the Realms. One scroll of resurrection and two good nights sleep and you are as good as new. My eyes got even better since the last time. No offence, but you could use it too. Oooh right, you can't, because you-*gets killed again. Comes back three hours later and grins happy.* "Thank you, every time I looked into the mirror, that cleft clip killed me a little!"

Pillars of Eternity again. Still love the first third of the game, but I dread the middle part. Luckily the White March should keep me motivated, until I reach the end.

I would say ... 30-40 for the first time (realistically speaking it will be 50-60, if I don't know how to solve quests). In my experience the stories of those games have a good pacing and the fun comes from the replay-value.

Hmm Destroying the Key: Easy enough. He followed members of the key to Deadfire and we met them there OR he fled there, after the Key hunted him for a while, so he tries to catch his breath. Leading the Key: Still easy enough: if I remember it correctly, the cells of the key work independently and Thaos did a lot of the dirtywork himself. So Aloth could be do that at Deadfire and the NPC mets him there and they get together again. The dead thing: it was just a rumor and now he is drunk and frustrated .

The previews suggested it too. Btw: I love the starting situation. It fits the game, doesn't feel like an asspull and is kinda fun.^^ But I am asking myself: how much time has passed since the last game? Two, five, ten years? At least long enough to get lazy and put our best weapons away . In a big box, which gets lost and we will never get back, I guess :D.

"PoS"? It wasn't that bad though. I had a few good hours with a friend of mine. For this kind of game the story was even good, but you could have created something better, that's true.

I can sign at least the weird part. I remember all the discussions about realism in Fallout 1. Or what some people considered realistic, brr.

I can see what he didn't like, but I disagree that Fallout 2 was worse storywise. The story of the second game gave the world more depth and it was a good contrast to the first game. The old world haunting the new one, that is always good. I also can understand that he wanted to explore other regions of the world, but I think that the franchise should have ended with New Vegas. There isn't much to tell otherwise, just repeats of post-apocalyptic tropes we already know. I see this with Wasteland 2, which is a good game, but it uses the same concepts of the first game and even Fallout 1. You just can't tell many stories in a world where everything is ****ed. I don't see what else is there to tell, after Civilisation was already rebuild and we could chose which one was the best way of governing people in New Vegas. And maybe he is just a bit tired that people always ask him about Fallout, even when his characters in New Vegas told us to try something new. As for the management: well, they get older, so you can understand why the want to sell their studio. I don't think that they would survive another bankruptcy.

I played through it yesterday and I think it is a very good game. The story and combat are better and I had more reasons to fight for my survival in this world. It just improved the mechabics of Eternity in every way, but the short playtime hinders your companions a bit to play out their depths. But I liked those guys alright. And the antagonists. Yeah, play Tyranny, it's fun. And then come back and discuss your choices with me .

Hmm - Baldurs Gate (still like it. It is big and gray, but it feels real. There are cities with better quests, but I actually want to live in Baldurs Gate) - Tarant (still the biggest city in an CRPG for me and although ugly it suited the steampunk-atmosphere of the game. Caladon was also nice. And Dernholm ist still such a dreadful place, that you want to make it better) - Twin Elms in Pillars of Eternity (the most exotic place in the game and I liked the quests there. I still think that the second act should have played mostly there) - Broken Hills/NCR from Fallout 2 (can't decide, but both cities showed, that there could be something more than the dystopic visions of Vault City and New Reno. New Reno was also nice, hmm). - Murolosch from Drakensang 1 ( I love Dwarfcities and this one was just so beautiful, I had to chose it. But the one in Divinity 1 was also okay)

Those are stories, worth telling . Besides Divinity: Original Sin AGAIN (after my fifth playthrough it will be enough. Finally) I started Invisble Inc. and already liked it so far.

Games you want that'll likely never exist
Harry Easter replied to Barothmuk's topic in Computer and Console
Another Action-RPG with Vampires in it. Doesn't matter when or where, but something with pirates and/or ancient rome could be fun. -
Do you want Alpha Protocol 2?
Harry Easter replied to Marburg's Postman's topic in Alpha Protocol: General Discussion
Oh my god yes. I fanboyed so much for this game, I already had a story in mind for the second game. -
@sorophx The combat mechanics haven't aged gracefully, that's true. I still try to beat Samurai Sam in "Metal Gear: Revengeance". It's such a wonderfully goofy game.

I liked both games, but I NWN2 is the better game, just because of it's stories and companions. Of course we know all the clichés, but the plot was actually very complex and got actually thicker than weaker with each chapter. And NWN 2 had the stronghold. The glorious, wonderful stronghold, I never wanted to leave. And I still can remember funny dialogues or scenes with mycompanions, instead of NWN 1 where I remember some aspects, but not most of it.

Setting up Teams
Harry Easter replied to TrueTengu's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Team 1: Edér, Aloth and Sagani. They have a good chemistry with each other and I can believe that they would fight for each other (Edér and Sagani are team mom and Aloth is their little boy, they defend). Team 2: Pallegina, Durance and Grieving Mother. Powerful enough and Pallegina is one of the only persons that can Durance command to shut up. And I think that Grieving Mother would feel safe around her. Team 3: Kana Rua, Hiravias and Maneha. They all have the same sense of humor and would enjoy the company of each other. Team 4: Zahua and the Devil, because I don't know were to fit them elsewhere. They are a bit crazy, maybe they can work something out. Or take Durance with them. -
The Alpha of Divinity: Original Sin 2. It's fun and I get the feeling that the game will be really great. On ther other hand, I think the parts of the story really depend more on each other than in the first game, where the region of Cyseal could have stood alone. And Metal Gear Revengeance and Westerado. One is a goofy but fun game, the other is an open world - western with pixel-charme.

Oh, nice Thread. Hmm, I would add: - stay close to the setting. Don't retcon or change it for broader tastes. It's great as it is. - The separation between hit- and enduranceppoints. It adds a good tactical feature and makes resting actually necessary. - Keep the more dark sense of humour. It fitted the tone of the story.

Main Story, an atheist cliche?
Harry Easter replied to Brimsurfer's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Why, if I may ask? Especially since Thaos seems to have lost some steam ( I mean, he is a master-manipulator but his schemes in Dyrwood seem to be so small, compared to the **** he did in the past).
