  1. Just to set the record straight. Japan attacked us on December 7. We declared war on Japan on December 8. Germany declared war on us on December 11. That is how we found ourselves at war with Germany. There has been alot of effort lately to re-write history to portray America as making a choice to go to war against Germany to free the Jews and the French and others from the tyranny of the Fascists. Hurrah! Nothing could be farther from the truth. Most Americas were reluctant to fight the Germans. But they had no choice after Germany acted on December 11. Just to set the record straight.
  2. The recent Israeli residents of Gaza claim they had a right to the land in Gaza because of a racial/religious priviledge laid out in the Bible. I don't know why those who were given the land by Israel were priveledged above others of like kind. Many of them were Jews recently from the USSR or the US. I don't think any of them were Israeli Arabs. In any case the land was recently taken by Israeli force during a war from people who were mostly Arabs. Efforts were then made to annex some of the land while dispossessing and banishing the Arab residents of that land. This is immoral and illegal under most circumstances. Those whose families lived in Gaza and owned the land before the Israeli occupation may make a modern and simple claim based on their recent prior ownership. In the absence of identified ownership before the occupation it seems reasonable that the Palistinian authority which represents the people who lived there as well as those who were relocated there should arbitrate how the land is used. It's the right thing to do.
  3. So you say, although your views on a variety of topics seem to match Bolton's well enough. Anyway, I find it interesting that the mug you show is in English rather than Arabic. Most Palistinians wouldn't be able to understand a mug like that. What is the market for coffee mugs over there anyway? How much of this story will still be true 5 days from now or 30 days from now? Perhaps it would be best to see the real thing and also how things develop. God knows there is plenty of propaganda on display in the region by all parties and the original sources for this story (Israeli sources and FOX) seem to have axes to grind also.
  4. Experts say that torture is most effective (as a terror weapon and inducement to cooperation) when it is known to be happening and suspected to result in deaths. Consequently it is common practice for torturers to seek a certain amount of publicity.
  5. Ah, Fall From Grace, some of the others, and TNO, and the Blood Wars! It could be awsome!
  6. I was able to play it without a patch and loved it, but had a few minor issues here and there and felt the story was somehow missing something. I'm happy they are doing a patch and taking the time to make it good. I hope they do a content patch too. :D I think Obsidian/MCA deserves to have their content be how they think it should be - its good enough to justify that consideration - and I think we will all benefit if they get to make it more that way. Lucas changes his work to make it more reflect his intent. Why shouldn't LA/Obsidian do the same?
  7. Thanks for your attention. The thread is: "Cautionary Statement: Latest Catalyst drivers, No go with TSL". Shows in KoToR General Discussion. I posted a test. I didn't see your post. Same situation. On my screen it still stayed where it was (on page 2) and the listing for the last poster didn't change either (appears to be the last poster before the thread was moved).
  8. I posted to a topic (about catalyst ATI drivers) which had been moved from KoToR PC Troubleshooting to the KoTor General Forum. I noticed that the name of the last poster did not change nor did the post promote in the new forum. So it looks like moving a topic will cause it to just fade away no matter how many new posts it receives. Which won't be so many since it will just slide more and more down the list and out of sight. Doesn't seem right somehow. "
  9. I'm sorry you are having trouble But the new ATI catalyst drivers have worked fine with KoToR for me. Perhaps your generalization is premature.
  10. Yes! Quite an outstanding performance! Bravo!
  11. 1. Planescape Torment 2. Fallout 3. Battleground Antietam 4. Legend of Zelda 5. Baldur's Gate 6. Age of Empires
  12. Being an ancient one for this group I can tell you that you shouldn't expect that there will be just one big-new-thing. After all, there is life after Monday, isn't there? There is a first big thing - which I guess for me would be TV, like you said - and then there is a whole series of evolutions and revolutions where you may be more or less at the forefront of the ongoing change. The changes are not always technical and not always completely new and not always for the better and they just keep on keepin on. You won't be bored. :D
  13. To be "honest" - as in truthful and not engaged in theft. " I'm sure LucasArts would understand if you didn't buy a Special Edition but they might be bemused if you stole it instead. But, what the heck, its hard to fathom what folks imagine these days will make the world a "better" place.
  14. I prefer the game to be easy enough that I don't die - or at least don't die too often. After all, if I die in an RPG that should be the end and I should have to restart with a new character and I hate doing that alot. If you like to die alot and be reborn alot the moment before your death there are ways to make that more likely - as folks have said.
  15. I think the internals of the story are great! I'm just a little bit confused about the big picture. The idea that Chris wants to do a content patch is thrilling! )
  16. Just a few general comments after skimming this thread. 1. This is Darth Nuke vs the Rest Of The World. 2. Darth Nuke is nearly matching the Rest Of The World in post frequency. 3. But not in post value. 4. I read what Chris said and skimmed the rest and it all made sense to me.
  17. Continuing on about Dionara.... In the end I promised her what she wanted to hear, although I wasn't sure if I meant it (although she DID look sorta HOT as well as EAGER). So....... With that in mind...... Obsidian, you have my undying respect and admiration and I promise I will buy all your future PC games. :D
  18. I sorta feel like I did in Torment when The Nameless One is confronted by Dionara looking for an eternal promise. WTF. Do what you want. Support the Forum or close as you see fit. I admire your work. I bought your latest game. There was some pretty good stuff in it and some stuff that didn't impress me that much but overall I enjoyed it. That's all you get. Suck it up and deal. No gizkas here!
  19. Well, Feargus, its nice to hear from you. Although I wish the content of your post was different its nice to know you care. How about taking some time to talk about the game, and upcoming projects, and the staff, and stuff like that.
  20. I'm not impressed with the finish of the PC version. I'm in Telos. The story seems good, but my game limps through buggy bits here and there. The opening bit in the apartment on Telos was bugged. The movies were wierdly messed up. The officer and friends didn't all make it out the door on one occasion. One of the soldiers talked over a videophone out of the back of her head. The Ithorian Moza talked too fast. I got one freeze up. Then things settled down again. One of the movies about Kriea's past was in low resolution - I guess straight from the X-box version - big contrast with my regular 800x600 play resolution.
  21. I've just finished the intro and I'd swear that alot of the images were just ported right over from the X-box version without enhancement. The image upgrade appears incomplete. The resolution for some features is really low and for other features OK. Because of this the PC production may be less good graphically than the original! - at least in some places. Some features with blocky low resolution images were: The sparks, The equipment bays, The stars in the background, and Even the opening text. I swear the stars reminded me of stuff off the Atari 64!
  22. So, if the bug is consistent, I guess that means OBSIDIAN KNEW ABOUT IT BEFORE THE PC RELEASE - BUT DIDN'T BOTHER TO FIX IT! What kind of way is that to treat your customers?!
  23. I'm pretty disappointed that reviewers and players are consistently reporting serious bugs in KOTOR and that these bugs have not been addressed or even talked about being addressed. It doesn't help that Mr. Chris Avellone hasn't posted since mid December on these boards and other Obsidian/Lucas employees have also been absent or less than forthcoming. You may be interested to know that SCRAPLAND also got a 4/5 review from the Gamespy and could be worth a play instead of KOTOR for those who are fed up with Obsidian/Lucas. "
  24. (w00t) I consider 35 as "young".
