NHL is back
Forsberg is just utterly insane. Still, it's a long season, and I'm sure some odd injury will afflict him eventually. Alfredsson is also the catalyst for all those great players in Ottawa. I honestly think the Senators would play pretty average without him.

How would you "prove" Intelligent Design ?
I mispoke earlier. I definitely think Philosophy should be in the classroom, and it is. It's in Social Science. It's covered quite well if the teacher knows what they are doing.

Gun
I saw the same thing on G4. I'd say hanging out on these forums is much geekier than watching G4, so I'm not quite sure where Nartwak was going with that comment.

How would you "prove" Intelligent Design ?
Funny, looking around and seeing all the critters is actually why I believe in a higher power. The big problem with science classes is that many teachers take the stance that the big bang theory and evolution disproves the possibility of a higher power. It doesn't. The Big Bang is a very low probability event. It may have had a helping hand. This should be made clear when it's taught. That doesn't mean you need to bring philosophy into the classroom.

NHL is back
Belfour is not the only goalie lugging around high GA's and low save percentages. There is more shooting this year, more traffic, and more room to skate for forwards. Defensemen are crippled and goaltenders are paying the price. I'm not a Belfour fan, but it sounds like he's playing pretty well. It's more important that he win games.

PCs and the cost of gaming
I tend to buy a console, hold on to it for a year or two, then trade it in and buy another one. EB and Gamestop give you like $50 for them, plus all the games and controllers, which really takes a bite out of the initial cost. Doing this, I've owned every major console in recent years. Of course, some things stink, like the fact I owned the PS2 when no RPG's were coming out, and now that I have an Xbox, a new PS2 exclusive RPG comes out every month.

PCs and the cost of gaming
Not to play the devil's advocate here, but let's remember that most consoles drop under $200 very quickly. I think it's about a year before the price dips, but I could be wrong. But yeah, they just don't compare to PC's. Although being a PC gamer does take more knowledge about hardware and sotware. On a console you are pretty much guaranteed the game will run as soon as you pop it in, but PC's can often require tinkering to run properly. Honestly though, you can't really compare a console to a PC. The PC just brings too much else to the table. The Xbox and PS2 are glorified DVD players and the Gamecube is a toy. PC's aren't just toys.

PCs and the cost of gaming
I'm a teacher and I use it often enough for work. The internet is the real valuable point, and you can't use the internet effectively on a 486 anymore. I also use it to get directions, to find information...I mean I can list its uses for hours. The fact is, it's very different than a console.

U.S. Universal Healthcare
Most countries with free health care also have very high taxes. And in the US it's even more complex because we are just so big. Canada has a much smaller population to deal with. The whole system is pretty much a mess, whether you have universal coverage or not.

PC upgrading
It's hard to put a new motherboard in a regular Dell. Many times it won't fit right, as Dell, Compaq, HP, Gateway, etc. are not made to be easily moddable. Some of the new Gaming rigs from these companies are alright, but the packaged PC's aren't too great for gaming. They also tend to have horrible air flow, so if you stick a fancy card in there, it might overheat and lock up. But yeah, the video card is old school. It's not worth screwing with it. If you really want an upgrade, this is what you should do... Take the following things from your Dell: Hard drive CD RW/DVD or any other floppy drives CPU Ram Buy these: Motherboard ($80) Mid-grade Video Card ($180) Tower with many fans ($60) Put them together, or have a shop put them together. That will make a sweet gaming system that should last another 3-5 years.

PC upgrading
It could be missing an AGP slot, as I once saw a relatively new Compaq computer without one (although the box listed it as having one.) Seriously though, you'll need a new motherboard. If it's a good card, then a new motherboard is a pretty easy choice for an upgrade. You can get a decent one for around $70-$100. Be careful with the size and everything, some towers are very limiting on motherboard sizes. If you post some more info. like CPU and current setup, I'm sure we can give more advice.

Is Star Wars Battlefront II any good ?
Your sense of humor is misplaced. I think EA bought it with Origin. You must destroy them to recover it. But first you must kill 30 rats to prove your worth.

Is Star Wars Battlefront II any good ?
I'm sure that will destroy them Hades. In fact, I think all the employees of EA are reading this message board and collectively shedding a single tear. Despair will sit heavy in their corporate hearts. Well played Hades, well played.

favorite part of any star wars movie
Child actors are always a tough choice. I re-watched Ep. 1 recently and his performance didn't seem too bad. Expectations were just so high going into it. No one has commented on the breast grabbing scene when Leia gets shot. Didn't anyone else pause and rewind that scene like I did?

Is Star Wars Battlefront II any good ?
Of course it's an EA game. They will own the world soon. You must assimilate. Seriously, the Battlefield series is top-notch. Battlefront is just a clone set in the SW universe. There was actually a SW mod for Battlefield 1942 that I thought was better than the original Battlefront. The thing with EA is...if you throw enough rocks out onto the store shelves, eventually you might find a diamond inside.

Jade Empire sequel confirmed
Cool, I enjoyed the 1st one, and apparently quite a few others did as well. It's a shame it won't be on the PC, but I guess I needed some reason to get an Xbox360.

PCs and the cost of gaming
I think normal PC gamers DO build their own PC's. It's not that difficult, the instructions are right there, and there are plenty of websites and stores that tell you how to do so effectively. When I build a PC, I know it will last at least 5 years. I might have to spend a hundred bucks for more RAM, or buy another mid-grade video card eventually, but I still think that's better than having a console. I've owned every major console at some point, and I always get frustrated with the limitations they come with. They are hard to patch, game controllers aren't as good as a keyboard and mouse, certain games only come out on certain platforms, my wife hates me using the TV, etc. PC gaming is the way to go, but you've gotta be knowledgable about a few things: 1. Learn how to make it yourself. It's not hard, and you'll become more comfortable when problems arise. 2. Buy midgrade video cards. Top of the line cards are a waste and will drop in price way before you get your moneys worth. Unless you have a limitlesss budget, then go all out. 3. Make sure your tower can breathe. Heat is a bitch.

ABC Miniseries....The Lost
Wow, just finally got around to watching it...interesting. I'm thinking Sayid is going to kill somebody. I'm grateful that it's Shannon, but I'm guessing she'll pop up plenty. I also wonder how Locke is going to handle Charlie, not that he knows about the heroin. It's kinda funny how few main characters were in this episode, and it looks like next week will be the same way.

Is Star Wars Battlefront II any good ?
But did you play Battlefield 2? CoH is a completely different type of game really. Buy Battlefield 2...now...EA will love you...give newborn children to EA...

But is the story good? I could care less about length if the game is a great story. People said the same thing about Fable, and I never regretted purchasing that game.

Castlevania Movie
http://movies.yahoo.com/mv/news/fs/2005111...3164506100.html This is the first I heard of a Castlevania movie, and it give some info on another Resident Evil and Dead or Alive. I'm just glad it's not Uwe Boll who's directing. I can't fiugure out if this is the same guy who directed the other two Resident Evil's, but if it, I'm happy. Those are really the only two video game movies I've enjoyed.

Gun
Anyone pick up the game "GUN" yet? It looks like it's got a decent story, good voice talent, and a western style. I'm just worried that it's way too much run and gun stuff and not enough decisions and plot development. It's developed by Neversoft, which did the Tony Hawk series. That might not be everyones cup o' tea, but it's a solid series with a lot of gameplay freedom. It's getting solid reviews, but I'd like to hear opinions if anyone got it. It's on all platforms and the PC.
