  1. Couple crazy matchups forthe weekend...Scandinavians and Eastern European madness. I guess Malkin really was missed in the Russian game...I don't know how they shut out a team with that many pure goal scorers. Geez, I've watched a ton of games this week.
  2. Hmm, no Survivor fans here? I actually really enjoyed the first season. It was new and unique then, at least to the US audience. Unfortunately there are too many reality shows out now. I also think the first few seasons of The Real World were huge too, before they turned into drunken frat parties. Buffy, Angel, and Firefly were great guilty pleasures. My favorite cartoon was GI Joe.
  3. Everyone seems to judge Bethesda on one game. Personally I remember and loved Daggerfall and Redguard. Redguard was more of an action-adventure game, but it had a very tight story. As others have stated, Oblivion will tell us whether Bethesda has learned from Morrowind. I don't see the need to be so negative about it.
  4. Yes, the people here are in the minority. This is a small community. Most people hear Fallout 3 is in development and, if they are familiar with it, probably look at that as good news. There are also a ton of Elder Scrolls fans. It's really only the hardcore fans that are concerned.

Unfortunately Finland and Russia are playing in the next game, but I do think that's the game for the gold medal. The loser will probably take bronze. They are very dominant this year. Selanne and Ovechkin are awesome. Why did Malkin get suspended? I watched the game and don't remember anything bad.
  6. A ****ing echo in here? That's what I said they aren't doing much except publish the game. If they did some actual work on it like Bio and Obs than yeah maybe it should be on their site. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Part of publishing is advertising. A web site is an advertisement. I don't want Obsidian wasting their resources on a web site.
  7. It seems like a lot of people are missing the importance of NWN2. The original campaign is exciting, sure, but it's not the thing that makes NWN2 different than any other game. This is not KotOR, Oblivion, or any other standard RPG. NWN2 is a powerful tool that allows the community to create any world they wish. If you want to play an evil character, find a mod, or join a persistent world and be one. http://www.atari.com/nwn2/community.php Go look at a few of the persistent worlds there. They've all managed to run succesfully on NWN and will probably only need a few months to do the same on NWN2. Do not confuse these with MMO's either, these allow as much creativity and flexibility as you and the DM's desire. If NWN2 is anywhere near the original, it will be far superior than any standard RPG on the market.

I read in the paper today that it will hurt the NHL that the US is out so quickly. They say the US fans have no reason to watch the next 4 games. I guess I can see that, but personally I'm way more excited about Team Russia than I ever was about Team USA. Maybe it's because my goalie Nabakov is leading them. I don't even like most of the US players. Roenick was the only real personality, and they left him at home. I heard the US players also had to pay for their own hotels, flights, and food. That seems a bit odd. Maybe it was incentive not to trash their rooms. I'm also just glad to see good hockey. I don't care what teams are playing. That's the nice thing about the Olympics, I don't really feel like I have a home team I have to root for.
  9. I had a good time playing tonight. Caught about the last hour of the games, and I think I killed a few Obsidian folk. Good times! I noticed that the 3rd person perpective on vehicles is disabled. That's interesting, definitely makes it scarier to drive around. I just with I could use my mirrors, I'm more worried about killing my teammates without that.
  10. Pronger had more minor penalties than any other player in the Olympics, according to a commentator. Seriously, the guy has no discipline.
  11. Bummer about the Swiss. They looked good in the 1st period, but once they went down by 2, it was pretty much over. Still, they are a fast team. Hopefully this wasn't just a fluke.
  12. Getting into the castle for the first time in The Black Cauldron. This was the first adventure game I ever played, and it was a masterpiece. You crawled through a maze of rocks, climbed a huge wall, and hid behind tapestries to avoid the guards.
  13. It's all about how much money the average job pays as well. In the Bay Area, the average income is over $100,000. That seems high, but the real estate market requires that much to get a house. As teachers, my wife and I get $90,000 a year combined, and we are low on the salary ladder. Most teachers make way less than that in other parts of the country, but they don't have the same cost of living. It's also pretty difficult to have a single income in the Bay Area. My wife doesn't plan on quitting her job when she gets pregnant, but that would probably be possible in another part of the country.
  14. Well, that's in Vegas. It's a desert. I guess if you want to live in a desert, you don't have to pay too much.
  15. I bought a 910 sq. ft. condo in August for $355,000. I now hate your parents.

Pronger is a very good defenseman, but he doesn't play smart in big games. You'll see that in the playoffs. I don't think Switzerland will beat Canada again. They took the Czech's and the Canadiens by surprise, but they'll be hard pressed to repeat that in the semifinals.
  17. Clearly you know nothing about Lyndon B. Johnson. Go read a book about his time in office before throwing out words like "full authority". Edit: After thinking about it, I'm not surprised you have the opinion of LBJ as the root cause of Vietnam. He was made the scapegoat by the media. The fact is, he was trapped in a war with no real way to get out. He had a group of Ivy league graduates telling him to stay the course. People tend to forget that while Vietnam was happening, LBJ was also helping the civil rights movement end segregation. Hopefully in a hundred years people will remember that he was a major cog in the fight for equality in the US.
  18. What does this have to do with MMORPG's? If you are referring to server queus in WoW, you are misinformed. There are plenty of low population server to join without waiting. The trouble is the initial servers are all overcrowded and not enough people want to change servers. Personally I have a few characters on other servers that I play when my main is full.
  19. Oh, the sewer scene from Vampire: Bloodlines, where the bloated cop was hung from the meat hooks. I actually thought he was the security guard from earlier. I was kinda attached to that guy. It was just a real creepy area. And when I beat the swordmaster of Melee Island. All I got was a lousy T-shirt.
  20. I just started up a new game of Wizardry 8. It still looks pretty good. I forgot how charming this game was...any game that lets you cast insanity on a group of roaches and watch them dance is alright by me. I also picked up Gothic II, but so far it hasn't pulled me in. It's a it awkward on the controls. I need a tutorial.
  21. Zelda has nothing in common with Oblivion and NWN2. You can make a slight connection since they have a fantasy setting, but they don't reach the same audience or have any gameplay similiarities. Zelda is made for all ages, NWN2 and Oblivion are made for an older demographic. *Edit: It's like saying there's a new type of ice cream coming out, and worrying that it will interfere with cookie sales. Zelda is ice cream. Now I need dessert.
  22. The US also has a pretty effective balance of power. You might see the Executive branch and Congress gain power after a serious incident like 9/11, but eventually the Supreme Court will step in and lay the smack down. It makes it hard for things to really spin out of control. Look at the reaction to Nixon. He was using surveillance to help win the election, but eventually it goes public. The US has a very intricate politicial structure, but it's survived some major issues over the last 230 years.
  23. That kid must play WoW. Seriously, it would have been more entertaining if I knew what he was saying.
  24. Maybe I was niave, but I really was shocked when I found out who I was in KotOR. That was an excellent moment. Old school wise, the whole rush to get off the spacecraft in the original Space Quest. It's been done to death by now, but that was an excellent moment.
  25. I have this gamesite bookmarked. I'm keeping an eye on it. It dosn't look like it has a real experienced crew working on it, but I definitely like the concept. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
