Upcoming Shadowrun game site opens
Hurlshort replied to Diogo Ribeiro's topic in Computer and Console
Seriously, we've known it was a FPS game for months. Get over it. -
Is this a CGI film? Blizzard has the CGI talent to pull off a pretty visually stunning movie. I'm not a doomsayer, there are a few movies I've really enjoyed that were based on games. Final Fantasy is actually one of my favorites in terms of artistic direction, and I think Blizzard can easily equal that. Oh yeah, I liked Resident Evil, but that's because I didn't expect them to be true to the games. It's a frickin' action movie. Edit: Just found the press release...live action...they better get good make-up artists.

It sounds like a squad based shooter. That's interesting at least. -
Quantic Dream officially announces Heavy Rain
Hurlshort replied to funcroc's topic in Computer and Console
Wow, Tears...that's revolutionary. Seriously, I'm looking forward to this based solely on the ability to tell a good story, -
I don't know if my heart can handle many more of these 2-1 games. That was seriously intense. I've got to give props to Peca and Roloson. If Peca doesn't block the dang shot, Roloson gobbles it up very well. That 5-3 was the most amazing PK I have ever seen. It was a bit tarnished by the goal during the 5-4, but the fact is Edmonton could have had two goals in that time. I seriously don't know how the PKers managed to stay in the lanes and even make plays without sticks. Eventually one of them dove to the ice and literally threw the puck out of the zone. Brilliant. On to Edmonton!

All the playoff games are sold out. I believe they sold out in a couple hours. This isn't Nashville, we pack the Tank Bummer about Harvey, I was hoping to see him play again. It's pretty odd that we have a back to back, but I guess it's no problem since both teams are young.
-
I'm thinking Harvey because he has history with the Sharks. Might be a little motivation to pay back the team that cut you. The trap won't work the same way against the Sharks as it did against the Wings. Both Sharks goals were because the big forwards on Marleau's line were cycling the puck along the boards. The Red Wings players don't do well along the boards, they are a fast transition team but not a grinding one. The Oilers need to hit more if they want to even it out. They might take a few penalties, but they've got a decent PK system. The Sharks were way more physical last night. I swear though, Thornton is snake bit. He had another huge opportunity last night that he couldn't bury. He also set up Ekman a few times and Ekman failed to pull the trigger. I'm guessing Mark Smith will be moving up to his line pretty much every night.

Oh my, do they even use goalies in the Ottawa/Buffalo series? The Sabres won 7-6 in OT! The Sens are going to start missing Hasek at this point.

There was a link to it once, but most agreed that it was in such bad taste that it was pulled. There is nothing funny about the absolute terror of a young child. It was abusive to put the young one in that situation and it's even worse to post the video up.

Expected first NWN2 campaign game time
Hurlshort replied to Atreides's topic in Computer and Console
I definitely have some form of ADD. It's manageable, but I've never been terribly good at focusing. That's why I make a good teacher, I get just as bored as the kids and keep things moving along. -
I just drooled over Elisha Cuthbert for the entire movie. It really made it much more entertaining. The whole porn angle was kinda cool too. I knew nothing about it beforehand, so that was a pleasant surprise. I started the movie thinking it was another lame movie about a geeky high school kid, and it turned into a soft-porn movie. That's cool by me.

Expected first NWN2 campaign game time
Hurlshort replied to Atreides's topic in Computer and Console
I'm hoping for 25-30 hours. Anything more probably won't hold my attention. -
I've been playing EQ2 lately as well. It actually has a ton of depth. The item variety is outrageous, the different skills you get when levelling are awesome, and the quests are limitless. So far my biggest struggle has been finding decent folk to play with though. It's not a very easy game to solo, particularly if you only like doing quests. I haven't really made up my mind about paying for another month.

They should title this episode "Drive drunk and we will kill you." It was a pretty awesome turn. I knew Ana Lucia was going to die, but I had no clue about Michael. I doubt they'll kill Ecko though, he's got too much left to do. He probably just gets roughed up. They also need to keep trimming the cast. They can't have too many people survive. Also, don't bother using spoilers here. If anyone reads this thread before viewing the episode, they deserve to have it spoiled.

It's true that all the awards are based solely on the regular season. That is because they are individual awards, and it's not fair to knock an individual just because the rest of his team sucks. I'm not making this up, the voting is supposed to only look at regular season. They do have another award for the playoff MVP which only looks at the playoffs. Ovechkin deserves the rookie of the year award because he scored 50 goals. That is simply not easy to do, even in the new NHL. It's a gigantic feat. Scoring 100 points is pretty special too, so Crosby deserves recognition, and a defenseman (Phaneuf) getting 20 goals is also very uncommon. All three of these guys did more than just have good seasons, they set a new league standard. Lundqvist is a top goalie, but he's not doing anything other goalies haven't done before.

BREAKING NEWS: BETHESDA TELLS ESRB TO STICK IT!
Hurlshort replied to Judge Hades's topic in Computer and Console
The problem with this situiation is the court of public opinion is already very much against the gaming industry. GTA messed up big by creating a gray area between modders and extra content. I mean, they really screwed the entire industry here. Now it's going to require a very strong movement to educate people on what modding is. It sounds like Bethesda isn't going to fight it, but they aren't just lying down either. -
Lyr, did you take that from somewhere? Quite a rant, and I have to agree. I played FFXI for a couple months. While I loved the graphics, gameworld, and playerbase, I really hated the mechanics. I remember really wanting to scream when I lost the same level over and over again. Has anyone else noticed that Sega-Soldier seems to write in verse? It's not good poetry, but I keep looking to see if there is a pattern to his meter. Is it a sonnet?

Although I'll probably buy it, I'm definitely disappointed they didn't go the RPG route. I read in a magazine that it still has a release date set late this year. I assume we'll find out if that is true during E3.
-
Although some people seem to thrive on the grinding, I definitely will only stick to a MMO if I have a decent group to socialize with. I don't consider it a chore to hang out with friends in an elaborate virtual world. It's not much different than these forums.

Ok, my predictions. It is likely to get chippy in here with the Oil/Sharks match-up. I have a feeling it will be way more physical than any other series. Sharks over Oilers in 5 - They NEED to dominate the series. If Edmonton strings together a couple wins, I'm worried. The Shark Tank hates Pronger and will be heckling him for the entire series. If he loses it, so does Edmonton. Toskala is much better than Legace. My real fear is that the Sharks will get shut down much like the Wings, but I think thier size might help here. Anaheim over Colorado in 6 - The Ducks look good and pulled off a huge upset. Goaltending is the question mark in this series. I think the Ducks youth will give them legs over the long-toothed Avs. Buffalo over Ottawa in 7 - Why? Because the Senators always choke The Sabres did really look dominant in thier four wins against the Flyers. It's either this, or a 4 game sweep by the Sens. The Sabres are more exciting to me. NJ over Carolina in 5 - The Hurricanes didn't look great against the Canadiens. They are a fun team to watch, but I think New Jersey is just too experienced and too hot. NJ seems to be in a different gear right now.

Doh! Don't mind me, I can't keep my French Canadien goalies straight. I'm probably wrong about that too And on the Ozolinsh thing, I knew he was the next Theo Fluery. Seriously, why would you send a guy who already struggled with drugs and alcohol to New York? Maybe in a couple seasons he can get a minor league job in Las Vegas and REALLY mess himself up.

If USA & Canada gave the land back to the Indians-
Hurlshort replied to Eddo36's topic in Way Off-Topic
I've done a few reports on American Indian tribes and spoken to a few Hisorians about the official "term" to use. There is no general concensus, but most groups are comfortable with American Indian. Native American is way too general, since all people born here can be considered native. So if you want to be accurate, use American Indian. Edit: Most people would rather be identified by thier specific tribe. -
I didn't see many games, so I'm not sure how Thibault played. But he played well enough to advance. It's kind of a funny situation right now with goaltending. I'm going to say that Roloson has been the most impressive so far.

Hehe, I'd rather the Sharks play Colorado. Reason is, Edmonton is hot and they just shut down a powerful offense. I'd like to see Calgary and Edmonton beat up on each other before the Sharks play them. I'm not dismissing Colorado, but they do lack the depth of the three other teams. They'll need Thibault to be really outstanding to pull the series off.
