  1. Sure. I'm actually saying I have plenty of reasons to have faith, but whatever. The point is, it's not hocus pocus in my eyes.
  2. The whole argument that it's either faith or reason is bunk to me. I have great reasons for my faith. Believing in a higher power seems very reasonable in my eyes. I look around at the beauty of our world, the emotions I feel for others, and the satisfaction I get from livng a good life. Those things make it very easy for me to believe that there is some master plan. It's much harder for me to believe that this is all just a random sequence of events.
  3. Wow, that's an incredibly arrogant statement by that aide...but I think he's right. Edit: After thinking on it a bit, I'm still not clear on something. Is the "reality community directly opposite the "Faith community"? It just seems like the lines are blurry here. I consider myself a member of both camps...is that supposed to be impossible?
  4. I got the demo. It was a bit meh for my tastes, but I also was getting motion sickness.

Other than Erik Johnson, I doubt we'll see any of these kids for a couple years. Even Johnson might take another year of development. That's the one nod I give Crosby over all the other rookies, he entered the NHL at 18. Fewer and fewer kids are ready to jump into the NHL at 18 nowadays.
  6. I think there are a few on the horizon. Mostly just ports of solid PS1 games, which I think is an excellent idea.

I think Quebec was plenty happy with the outcome of the Lindros deal. I believe that was how they ended up with Forsberg. Considering the Av's went on to wing the Cup twice (?) and Philly never got to the Finals, we can see who benefited.
  8. That was genius. I love the ending. "Ive gotta go guy. I've got a date with your mothers!"
  9. The US has always had religion, or specifically christianity, deeply rooted within government and education. This is a very puritanical country. Everything is cyclical. Right now, the religious right is on an upswing. The fear of terrorism is being used by many to support a return of "moral values" which basically means everyone needs to be a God fearing Christian. But this won't last forever. Each generation of children swings a different way, and eventually conservative America will lose it's iron grip. You can look at the Cold War as a perfect example. In the 50's, American society was afraid of the A-bomb and anything different than the norm. The 60's brought about social change and protests over the war on communism. By the 70's, society looked completely different than the 50's. Anyways, considering all this stuff is cyclical, I just figure we should be as tolerant as we can. That way, in 20 years, you can look back and say "I wasn't a **** to people."
  10. Your best bet is Santa Cruz, if that's your interest. They are all over downtown. Heroin mostly, but you can find anything.
  11. You know, I went and looked up the critical reviews of each movie, thinking that I could show that the 1st was better. That didn't happen, all three movies had a C average. For some reason, I remember slightly enjoying the first one, but I guess I'm a sucker for Vin Diesel.
  12. I could tear this argument to pieces Hurlshot. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It's not an argument, it's an observation. And I'm making it strictly about our little forum family. I've seen numerous posts on how religion is stupid and belief in God is moronic. It just seems very intolerant to me. I don't go around insulting non-believers on these boards, but it seems to be open season against spirituality.
  13. The first Fast and Furious was a decent flick, and it even got decent ratings to boot. The 2nd one was a travesty. Who woulda guessed that Vin Diesel was the glue holding that thing together (actually, it was probably more the director change.) The 3rd one couldn't even wrap up that lead actor guy who was in the first two, so you are guaranteed suckiness. The most interesting thing I saw was a documentary on drifting and how they used it in the movie.

Roli as in Roloson? I think Roloson is going to be pretty content staying in Edmonton. Look how long he stayed in Minnesota.
  15. Huh...I find it odd that people bash religion broadly, and then when someone who is religious speaks their mind, they are compared to a retard. Very open minded.
  16. Agreed. I'm sure they have some sort of public speaking club in your area. It's always good to have a group to help you along.
  17. Why would God step in? "Jacob initially said the devil was working against him during a Wednesday immigration event" He's probably anti-immigration. Maybe he's doing the Devil's work. Maybe God is the one working against him. Also, you don't have to be religious to believe in Karma.

It's more like they picked up Raycroft for a prospect. He was bombing, so maybe the location change will do him good.

Pavol Demitra to Minnesota is a pretty big trade. If Demitra stays healthy, that could really allow the Wild to run an offense. Demitra to Gaborik sounds dangerous.

Yeah...exciting...some guy I'll see in 2-3 years. Still, he's a pretty big defenseman. Hopefully he'll be a solid blueliner. That hopefully allows San Jose to be comfortable dealing off one of their many solid yound D-men.

Jeez, I hope the trades pick up, I'm starting to fall asleep. It was pretty interesting that Ovechkin called the draft for the Caps. Clearly they want to keep him happy.
  22. Jay and Silent Bob requires a decent knowledge of all other films. Between this and the NHL thread, Volologic is running full force today.
  23. Actually, the two are extremely far apart. It's like visiting London to see the Eifel Tower. I had a British friend who moved to San Jose because he wanted to be an actor. He ended up working in computers. He never made it to Hollywood.

There is nothing sexist here. My wife wears the pants in my family, but you can bet she'll be plenty happy to live in any crap-hole for the money Pronger is making. Of course Oiler fans are going to hate Pronger. They want what is best for thier team. It is no more selfish than Pronger wanting to leave.
  25. I second that, it really is a great tour. If you see that and Hearst Castle, you are visiting two of the coolest places in the US.
