Speaking of purchases, I need to buy a bicycle. I just want a basic mountain bike, nothing too fancy, so I can recondition my leg.

Ah, I'm actually hoping for a little identity theft. That way I can blame all my stupid purchases over the years on that. "Someone stole my social security and totally overpaid for this house!"

If that's turning a profit, I wonder what losing money looks like. The recession didn't affect games all that much, it's EA's strategy that's crashing and burning. Then what does this mean?

My DMV actually told me that I can't renew at the office unless it is late. I have to mail it or do it online. That was after an hour wait, so I've converted to doing it online. It is pretty painless.

http://investor.ea.com/releasedetail.cfm?ReleaseID=381903 I think EA is still turning a profit, actually. Can anyone explain all this stuff?

I'm not sure who to root for. I'd like Peyton to get another ring, but the Saints are making their first trip to the big game and the community is really running with it. Peyton is a lock for the HoF already, but Drew Brees has the potential, and a win for him would really help his credentials.

Well, if there were collectible nudie cards in Dante's Inferno, I would still consider it a disgrace to the literature.

iPhone games rake in the bucks for a fairly minimal development cost.

Yeah, I'm excited to get it, but I'm too anal to go straight to the sequel.

How would you know the relationship between Arkane und Ubi are good? DM completely bombed, so I doubt they'll work together again. Did it really bomb? The reviews were decent for it. I know it wasn't a blockbuster, but it seemed fairly popular.

I bought the original Assassin's Creed this weekend for my PS3. I had actually received it for Christmas back when it was released, but I never got into it and traded it away. But the sequel raised my interest level, and so I decided to give it another try and not be put off by the whole futuristic aspect. I've been pretty happy with it so far. The graphics look fantastic, and I'm two assassinations in and it hasn't felt repetitive yet. I'm glad I gave it another chance.

I've been contemplating getting Lionheart. Someone stop me!

Wait, what? I'm not quite sure how I can say that any differently. I have a lot of students from China. They go back over the summers and other breaks.

I agree completely. It isn't just that they are making the Divine Comedy into a game, it's that they are turning Dante into a violent action hero.

I'm pretty sure Dragon Age was Bioware's attempt to recapture the magic of BGII. I was happy with it, but if it didn't do it for you, then it might be time to retire from video games. Keep hanging out here though Boo, you've grown on me

Kids usually figure that out by themselves with the purges and lack of quite a few personal freedoms. And then there are my students, who are from China and Korea and see first hand the differences between the two types of government.

Unfortunately most matrilineal societies still relied on a male leader. It just meant that the line of succession was dependent on the woman rather than the King. So basically the King's sister or aunt would carry the heir. A true matriarchy is fairly unheard of.

But his philosophy seems to be that the US should not treat anyone like an enemy. He is saying that the whole friend or foe foreign policy is a problem. Look, I don't agree with his tact, but I see the rationale behind his choices. It isn't any different than the lawyers that defend people on death row. Folks on death row are reprehensible, but they are given every opportunity to appeal and defend themselves, they are treated humanely by the government. As for people who are not on trial, that seems even more reasonable. The US has handled countries like Iran, N. Korea, and Cuba very aggressively over the years. Those countries may deserve it, but that does not mean it is the best course of action.

I'd be more impressed if we actually had an example of a successful socialist system.

Wait, what? Do you mean like if a farmer milks a cow, do I, as a non-farmer, deserve to get a drink from his hard work?
-
I've looked over his quotes and I'm not seeing anything that says "I hate the US" He clearly has major issues with the way the government is run, particularly foreign policy. But you aren't a fan of our current president and you have been very vocal about that, and no one has accused you of anti-Americanism.

Ramsey is a pretty interesting character. I would never make the choices he does when it comes to defending fairly cretinous people, but there is a solid logic behind it. When you have something terrible and tragic happen, you quickly get a mob of people screaming for justice. That is a natural reaction, but it is dangerous and can spin out of control. Ramsey is basically trying to counter that. Is it radical? Yes, but so is the lynch mob mentality that developed against muslims after 9/11. I'm not in his head, but I do not see his actions as anti-American in any way. First off, he has shown his commitment to the US in his work during the civil rights battles of the 60's. He has obviously become much more radical since then, but his commitment is still towards groups that are being persecuted. Some of those groups deserve persecution, but just like our legal system, someone has to defend even the murderers and rapists. He has taken that on himself, I doubt it's an easy path to take, and he probably only does it because he feels it is the right thing to do for America.

The doctor wants me off it for one week, but it feels good. The swelling is almost gone and I've been stretching and putting about 50% on my weight on it at a time. I'm thinking about buying a bike to help with the rehab. Jogging will probably be a bit tough, and I've been thinking about getting one for awhile now anyways. I think I can get back out on the ice by mid-February, and hopefully get back to playing games by the end of that month. My armpits are killing me though :D

Are you addressing me or the guy who wrote the article? I'm pretty sure he meant the reviewer. I don't get that though. Reviewers aren't paid to be elitists or snobby about games. They are reviewing for the general gaming public, and games like Mass Effect and COD:MW2 are going to get great marks because they appeal to a wide audience. That is also why they sell well.

The creek by our house got pretty high this last week with all the rain. We sandbagged our garage and truckshop, but luckily the house wasn't at risk. I'm fighting a cold, so no drinks for me.
