  1. Is this your own personal project?
  2. Okay, now it makes sense. Fun gadged no doubt, though I think I would personally prefer a mini-laptop. I'm not a big fan of the netbooks, myself.
  3. To piggyback on that, I've been thinking about a strategic foreclosure on my condo. We currently owe $360,000 and it is only worth about $200,000. Our loans are fairly cruddy, a 7% interest on an 80% loan and 10% on a home equity line that covers the other 20%. I'm going to try to talk to the bank first, but it just feels like we are throwing away money. We can afford it, but we can also rent a much nicer house for half the mortgage. What a headache.
  4. I'm pretty excited. I haven't missed an episode yet, so I'm really looking forward to seeing how they wrap it up.
  5. Steam is a good service, but the only reason I put up with the whole online stuff is because they offer great discounts. Plus, I believe they have an offline mode, although I haven't used it.
  6. Again, two of my favorite is not my two favorite. That is a huge difference. Her list of favorite philosophers could have hundreds on it. We could ask her to clarify that, but that might hurt the argument that she is some crazed Maoist.
  7. I don't like Obermann either. I'm not democrat or a liberal, I prefer to look at each issue and weigh it on its own, rather than following a party line.
  8. That's a shame. I don't really see Interplay releasing anything good, and the studio they chose sounds pretty suspect. Whereas a Bethesda MMO would at least be an interesting sandbox experience, although I imagine they are focused on the rumored Elder Scrolls MMO more than a potential Fallout Online.
  9. Isn't there a whole legal dispute over this project? I'm really doubting this game will see the light of day, MMO's have enough trouble getting released under good circumstances. I think there was a screenshot floating around awhile back too. edit: Masthead is a Bulgarian studio with no releases. Sounds like a recipe for success!
  10. Again, you are putting words in her mouth. The whole bullying news style that I see from folks like Glen Beck and O'Rielly has always bothered me. It's easy to tear people down and they've made a living off of it.
  11. I'd like to see more confirmation on this. That FAQ is a bit vague. edit: Like it mentions you do not need the CD to play the game, but is there an alternative where you can use the CD and that allows you to play online? It needs clarification, for sure.
  12. They should make it like Jagged Alliance 2. In fact they should ditch their engine and use the Silent Storm one, and then hire all the people from Sir-Tech to make the game.
  13. While it wasn't as dark as Aliens, I wouldn't call it a family film. I mean besides the violence and alien sex, Ridley is a smoker! That's pretty dark.
  14. I'm a big fan of Machiavelli and his work, but that doesn't mean I'm actually endorsing it as public policy.
  15. Maybe I'm going out on a limb here, but I'm pretty much 100% sure if you hated Fallout 3, you will still not like FO:NV. Just take a look at KotOR and KotOR 2, they were not dramatically different. Obsidian did some neat stuff with the sequel, but don't expect an entirely different game.
  16. Do they allow sports teams to develop out on the yard? I would think that would have the same problems. Although the LARPing possibilities are really good in this setting. Magic Missile! Really adds a new twist to the expression 'rogues do it from behind'
  17. eh, no, it goes beyond that. It didn't even live up to what we were told it would be. I actually finished it twice, so I can't say its a horrible game, but pretty stunningly underwhelming given its legacy. That's basically what I was trying to say. Taken as an independent game, it is a solid effort. But I get what you mean, it was marketed as one thing and arrived as another. And it also wasn't just like they ran out of time or failed to execute, they seemed to make purposeful choices that turned it away from the original.
  18. Two of my favorite is not my two favorite. There is a dramatic difference in language.
  19. Ever try explaining THAC0 to one of the un-initiated? I don't disagree with you, but you could play games without understanding that.
  20. Then why are you arguing?
  21. Huh? Drew Brees is a fantastic QB, and if he plays like he has for the next decade, he will be in the HoF. That is what I've already said. But the next decade is a long time, and there are plenty of QB's that have put in a couple great seasons but fallen short in the end. Trent Green, Drew Bledsoe, and Boomer Esiason come to mind, but I'm sure there are dozens more out there. And the Superbowl ring is a major part of any HoF bid. When you look at the list, there are only a couple QB's in the Hall that have not won a ring, Warren Moon and Dan Marino being the two that stick out to me.
  22. Ok, my Lionheart urge has diminished. Thank you folks!
  23. Joker looks like he has been working out. But doesn't he have some brittle bone disease? I didn't even know he could walk.
  24. Not to mention, Deus Ex 2 was a very decent game. It just didn't live up to the original.
  25. Longevity is not a given in the NFL.
