  1. I also will probably give D3 a pass. Of course I said the same about Starcraft 2, and I still broke down and bought it a couple days after is came out.
  2. So what about when a player leaves via free agency? I agree with your loyalty sentiment, I don't like it when a team throws a player under the bus to drive value down. But with the Sharks I just see misguided attempts to improve a team that hasn't won a cup.
  3. I don't remember them trashing Heatley. They traded for Havlat because it freed up cap space and gave them a speed option to replace Setoguchi. Management had nothing but good things to say about Heatley and his time in San Jose. Nabokov was also a case of finances, they felt they could get away with a cheaper goaltender. That seems to be a foolish choice now, but I still wouldn't say they trashed him.
  4. I've never fully understood that stance because there are so many different ways to exercise. Find something that works for you. I burn a ton of calories playing hockey, for example, and I don't consider that boring at all.
  5. I've always had back problems, due to a mild case of scoliosis. As the others mentioned, stretching and exercise are the best bets, you want to strengthen those back muscles. An occasional visit to a massage therapist is also good.
  6. My Sharks are broken. I'm not sure exactly what happened, but as a whole the team looks pretty bad. I haven't seen them get outshot like this on a regular basis in about 7 years.
  7. I had a pretty crazy weekend. I went to Vegas for a hockey tournament, we swept our division and I made the all-tourney team. It was also my first time in Vegas with friends, I went many years ago with family but it was pretty boring. It was a lot more interesting this time around.
  8. Prometheus looks great. Maybe I saw a different trailer, but I didn't learn much about the plot from it. Granted I also only have a cursory knowledge of the Aliens universe. I watched "John Carter". While it was enjoyable, I think it needed to be a bit shorter. I really enjoyed the premise and it is a shame we will not get to see a sequel that gets deeper into the lore. I guess I can read the books. It's a shame they couldn't make this flick with a reasonable budget. I also wasn't blown away by the acting, it was decent but they really needed someone to shine.
  9. 21 Jump Street - Hilarious tribute/spoof film about the 80's TV show. There was a lot of humor that really only makes sense if you were a fan of the series, but I thought they did a great job if you were.
  10. Santorum doesn't just have differerent political views, he's running a campaign that openly looks to oppress women and gay people. For me that is just vile. I am much more comfortable to know Romney will just avoid the issues. Not happy, but at least I know civil rights won't be forced to step backwards.
  11. My problem with this statement is that it's a meme that the media have promoted since before he even entered the race But it's true, his party support is minimal. He also hasn't ever really threatened to gather much in the way of delegates. He's done surprisingly well given his politics. I've said before, it is great to have him out there, because he keeps a fresh take on the issues, but he's a lot like the Ralph Nader of the Republican party.
  12. That's a pretty famous drink, the first time I had it was actually in Canada.
  13. You forgot the s in scumbag. Gross.
  14. I don't consider Romney a lunatic, I will consider voting for him depending on his choice of running mate. I would never vote for Santorum, and that is something the republican party should be looking at. I am a complete moderate, a voting base that is really up for grabs and will probably decide the election. Paul could probably grab a lot of moderate voters like me, but he doesn't have a real shot at the nomination.
  15. What are they looking to seize the land for, GD? I always thought that was more a state and local issue than Federal? Just playing Devil's advocate here, as I was disappointed that he didn't approve it, but wouldn't his nixing of the the oil pipeline be good for those worried about imminent domain concerns?
  16. It is odd that they even allowed the budget for John Carter to get so crazy. It was actually a big controversy when James Cameron spent a ton on Titanic, and movies like the Pirates of the Caribbean are expensive, but I don't think the original was so costly.
  17. What do you mean by stake Boo? It is the President, so I'd say every American has some stake in the election. My worst case scenario is Santorum. It is my hope that I will see gay marriage in every state before too long, and Santorum will halt that in its tracks. I don't like to see discrimination like this on a Federal level.
  18. Huh, I guess I should have got the Kasumi DLC afterall. I only did Shadow Broker and Arrival in ME2.
  19. It looks to be set up for failure, but if the word of mouth continues and it keeps getting a strong international showing, it might be able to pull off a profit. I think there was an expectation that it could be the next Avatar, but the difference is James Cameron is known for these big budget successes while this director is known more for big animated films. That being said, the guy who did the Incredibles did a fantastic job with Mission Impossible, so it shouldn't be that surprising that an animated director can make the jump to live action.
  20. But the Afghan people aren't the enemy. That whole line of thinking causes huge problems in the first place. We are supposed to be there to help the Afghani people.
  21. Santorum and Gingrich are very much selfish, they really seem less concerned with the welfare of their party (and the country) and much more concerned about their public profile. This always reminds me of the story of Richard Nixon in 1960. The election between him and Kennedy was extremely close, and many of his supporters wanted to challenge for a recount, but Nixon chose not to pursue it because he didn't want to come across as a sore loser. I believe this helped his image when he won in 1968. So this leads me to believe that Nixon, the only president to resign in disgrace, has more character than these guys Also Santorum is frightening, like super scary.
  22. I was surprised that all the news outlets were calling "John Carter" a bomb because it only pulled in 30 million on the first weekend. I know it was super costly to make, but that seems like a pretty great take for a new property with relatively unknown actors. Hopefully it will have staying power, though. I might get out to see it this weekend or next.
  23. I thought more about this soldier and I think they need to make this trial public. He still needs to be tried with a US military court, but I believe the Afghan people should be able to see it happen. Steps should be taken to make sure it is visible. There is still going to be some violence and problems as a result of this tragedy, but that help somewhat.
  24. Yep, that's what I have my problems with It's too bad NATO is so ineffective, the dream scenario is the US goes in, removes the Taliban, and then an international police force comes in to help establish a stable government built around basic human rights and no corruption.
  25. If the US just wanted to plop a few military bases down in Afghanistan for strategic means, they could have done so ages ago with a lot less manpower and resources committed. Instead they are trying to help Afghanistan establish a stable government with an effective military. I disagree often with the way the US is handling itself in Afghanistan, but don't lose sight of the fact the Taliban is one of the most vile groups in modern history, and handing back control of the government to them is a terrible idea.
