21 Jump Street - Hilarious tribute/spoof film about the 80's TV show. There was a lot of humor that really only makes sense if you were a fan of the series, but I thought they did a great job if you were.

Santorum doesn't just have differerent political views, he's running a campaign that openly looks to oppress women and gay people. For me that is just vile. I am much more comfortable to know Romney will just avoid the issues. Not happy, but at least I know civil rights won't be forced to step backwards.

My problem with this statement is that it's a meme that the media have promoted since before he even entered the race But it's true, his party support is minimal. He also hasn't ever really threatened to gather much in the way of delegates. He's done surprisingly well given his politics. I've said before, it is great to have him out there, because he keeps a fresh take on the issues, but he's a lot like the Ralph Nader of the Republican party.

That's a pretty famous drink, the first time I had it was actually in Canada.

First, they came for the emos, but I said nothing...

You forgot the s in scumbag. Gross. -
I don't consider Romney a lunatic, I will consider voting for him depending on his choice of running mate. I would never vote for Santorum, and that is something the republican party should be looking at. I am a complete moderate, a voting base that is really up for grabs and will probably decide the election. Paul could probably grab a lot of moderate voters like me, but he doesn't have a real shot at the nomination.

What are they looking to seize the land for, GD? I always thought that was more a state and local issue than Federal? Just playing Devil's advocate here, as I was disappointed that he didn't approve it, but wouldn't his nixing of the the oil pipeline be good for those worried about imminent domain concerns?

It is odd that they even allowed the budget for John Carter to get so crazy. It was actually a big controversy when James Cameron spent a ton on Titanic, and movies like the Pirates of the Caribbean are expensive, but I don't think the original was so costly.
-
What do you mean by stake Boo? It is the President, so I'd say every American has some stake in the election. My worst case scenario is Santorum. It is my hope that I will see gay marriage in every state before too long, and Santorum will halt that in its tracks. I don't like to see discrimination like this on a Federal level.

Huh, I guess I should have got the Kasumi DLC afterall. I only did Shadow Broker and Arrival in ME2.

It looks to be set up for failure, but if the word of mouth continues and it keeps getting a strong international showing, it might be able to pull off a profit. I think there was an expectation that it could be the next Avatar, but the difference is James Cameron is known for these big budget successes while this director is known more for big animated films. That being said, the guy who did the Incredibles did a fantastic job with Mission Impossible, so it shouldn't be that surprising that an animated director can make the jump to live action.

But the Afghan people aren't the enemy. That whole line of thinking causes huge problems in the first place. We are supposed to be there to help the Afghani people.

Santorum and Gingrich are very much selfish, they really seem less concerned with the welfare of their party (and the country) and much more concerned about their public profile. This always reminds me of the story of Richard Nixon in 1960. The election between him and Kennedy was extremely close, and many of his supporters wanted to challenge for a recount, but Nixon chose not to pursue it because he didn't want to come across as a sore loser. I believe this helped his image when he won in 1968. So this leads me to believe that Nixon, the only president to resign in disgrace, has more character than these guys Also Santorum is frightening, like super scary.

I was surprised that all the news outlets were calling "John Carter" a bomb because it only pulled in 30 million on the first weekend. I know it was super costly to make, but that seems like a pretty great take for a new property with relatively unknown actors. Hopefully it will have staying power, though. I might get out to see it this weekend or next.

I thought more about this soldier and I think they need to make this trial public. He still needs to be tried with a US military court, but I believe the Afghan people should be able to see it happen. Steps should be taken to make sure it is visible. There is still going to be some violence and problems as a result of this tragedy, but that help somewhat.
-
Yep, that's what I have my problems with It's too bad NATO is so ineffective, the dream scenario is the US goes in, removes the Taliban, and then an international police force comes in to help establish a stable government built around basic human rights and no corruption.
-
If the US just wanted to plop a few military bases down in Afghanistan for strategic means, they could have done so ages ago with a lot less manpower and resources committed. Instead they are trying to help Afghanistan establish a stable government with an effective military. I disagree often with the way the US is handling itself in Afghanistan, but don't lose sight of the fact the Taliban is one of the most vile groups in modern history, and handing back control of the government to them is a terrible idea.
-
Boo, are you trying to imply this is about oil or something? That might be a good argument for the war in Iraq, but there is very little economic gain to be had in Afghanistan, it really was a war against terror that put us there. Back to this tragedy, do you folks think he should be tried by an Afghani court? I know this is a bit of a complicated area of the law, like when a diplomat commits murder. My feeling is he should face the Afghanistan court system. I could see him getting some protection from the US government if he got into a confrontation with someone and there was a death, but this lunatic killed children. He wasn't out on patrol in a warzone either, he went into these people's homes and murdered them. If he did this in Texas he would get a fast pass to the gas chamber.

Ah, Jefe is boss, I should have known that.

My Spanish is pretty bad, but I believe it is talking about education and humility, and how a guy named Jeff connected with the president by saying "Have a good day" But really I just like the idea of our president fist bumping all the custodians in the White House.

This image made me smile. I haven't been a big supporter of the guy, but he does have style!

Isn't that 8 hour sleep thing a myth? Maybe toddlers and kids needs it, but I'm fairly sure adults don't. Nope, for most stages of your life, 8 hours is the recommended amount of sleep. Obviously this varies based on a lot of factors, but that is the accepted standard. I'm 33 and I feel terrible if I don't get at least 7, but I also get interrupted at least once a night.

The Spectre weapons look pretty sweet, plus a few do things that are rather unique. I like the explosive disc shooting pistol.

While having a fun and rather reminiscent moment with Garrus and Wrex, it struck me how bizarre it would be to have one of them be dead in this game. Bioware really did pull off an amazing bit of choice and consequence here over a trilogy.

It's funny because I have two videos I show about China in my class, and one says you can see the wall from space, while the other claims that is a myth. It's a good opportunity to teach my kids about not trusting sources, at least.
