  1. Started a Fighter/Mage build and it is pretty awesome. It really feels natural to sling a spell and then jump in with my sword. I still stumble with the right buttons a bit, but when I get into a good flow, it's a pretty awesome feeling. I've also got this Mass Effect armor on, which looks pretty cool.
  2. Sadly I think that is the most likely possibility. At least no one explained the full history of the symbols. Maybe someone also likes lightening bolts.
  3. Yeah, because when I think of Skyrim I really think "those lazy developers just left out a ton of stuff."
  4. Sadly I think they are still pretty far from numbers that would make a publisher notice. A million in sales is about 20k of product, right? Given that most publishers expect a game to sell well over 100k in product (really I think 500k is today's minimum goal for a AAA title.) But it's an awesome deal for Double Fine.
  5. For JA: BiA, are the voices the same? Do they have decent dialogue?
  6. Happy Birthday Nepenthe! I wonder if we have more folks in their 30's and older here than we do in their 20's? I think it's probably getting close.
  7. Double Fine has some fairly notorious troubles when dealing with publishers. Basically Schafer refuses to compromise his vision on projects, and it has led to some pretty interesting blowouts. He's also been fairly public about it, in fact he is pretty public about everything he does, which makes this kickstarter thing a perfect match for him.
  8. I'm pretty sure it will continue to feel like a single player MMO. Given that the game is supposed to lay the groundwork for an upcoming MMO, it doesn't surprise me. The only thing I wonder about is how they will translate the combat system into an MMO. Everything else about it seems like a pretty easy jump.
  9. It's probably still pending. I get that at gas stations all the time.
  10. Double Fine is a legitimate developer too. They have a real office with real employees and a real track record for releasing products. So investing in them like this is great, it cuts out the middleman publisher and gives the developer more freedom, which is oftentimes good for the hardcore fans.
  11. The demo doesn't let you choose the hardest difficulty, so that may be a big enough change for you. Most of the time my only challenge comes when I get quite a few enemies at once, but I'm not very far into the game. I'm playing on normal.
  12. That's not very reassuring you know. :D I try not to look too closely at any of the video game characters I hook up with
  13. I can't really disagree with you there, Mafia 2 was sorely lacking in the game department. But I still think it was special.
  14. This thread is depressing. I've had a blast taking Shepard through these games, I guess that makes me simple, but he's a Marine and he gets stuff done. You guys need to treat this game like a good night out on the town. Play it fast and easy, and don't look too closely at the bathrooms or the girl you take home. Good times
  15. Hmm, using the gamepad I control the camera with my right thumb while moving with my left thumb. With the mouse and keyboard I would probably hold down the right mouse button to control the camera while moving. I do this for a lot of 3rd person games because I have issues with nausea as well. I'm enjoying the game so far, but I got these purple chakrams that made the early fights a bit too easy. I ended up switching back to my daggers to keep combat a bit more interesting. Still learning the timestop thing, like when it is best to use it.
  16. The funny thing is she was crying more about the fact I wouldn't get her something from the snack shack than anything else Both you and Raithe bring up good points. After talking it over with my wife, we plan on keeping her in the classes and seeing if it will work to give her the option of opting out of any performances. She isn't even 5 years old yet (even though she occasionally acts like a little grown up) so we will wait a few years before we really start pushing the performance issue with her. As Gfted mentioned, it's important to be able to follow things through from A to Z. With dance and cheer, it is also a matter of other kids relying on her to show up. When she bails on a dance number, it can affect the whole performance. She has a alot of trouble seeing that at this age, but it's something I plan on continuing to work on.
  17. Good luck in Antarctica! Actually I bet the wifi is good in Antarctica, not too many people eating up bandwidth. Take care wherever you are going!
  18. I'm not sure a google search will really convey the full magnitude of Jersey Shore on US culture.
  19. That's a very good point, and one I've talked with my wife about. I just want her to be aware of this a bit more, so that I don't drive the whole family out to see her and then she decides not to perform. It's also a question of money, should we shell out for dance classes when she doesn't ever perform? I'm not sure. I'll have to think on it a bit, but thanks for the feedback. You guys are my sound board
  20. Yeah, Santorum is my worst fear. I have no idea how he recaptured momentum. He is the only candidate, now that Bachmann and Perry are out, that I would actively campaign against. Scary stuff.
  21. ME2 is actually the only game I've ever bought DLC for. I think it's because there is a natural feel to continuing after the endgame, and I really did want to hear Liara's story. Plus making Arrival basically a prologue for ME3 was pretty brilliant.
  22. Last night I had a tough parenting situation. I took my daughter to a basketball game, where she was going to do a routine with some other girls at halftime. She is almost 5. Saturday she went to a camp to learn the routine, her grandmother actually bought her an outfit for it. Right before the performance, she runs up to me and says she is too shy to perform. I try to convince her to give it a try, and her friends are all going out on the floor. Then she started saying she was hungry. Now it was very frustrating to hear that, since I had spent and hour before the game trying to get her to eat more food and she wouldn't. So I told her I would get her something at the snack shack after the performance. She started to have a meltdown. At this point the performance was almost over, so I told her we were leaving. She continued to meltdown, so I picked her up and carried her out (all while holding my 2-year old son.) On the way home I told her I was disappointed, that we came out to watch her. Eventually she apologized, but I told her she was still going to bed when we got home. I gave her something to eat and then helped her to bed. It's a weird situation though. I'm not sure how to handle it exactly. This isn't the first time she has done this before a performance, she does the same thing for her dance classes when it is recital time. I don't want to be the parent that just lets my kid off the hook for this stuff, constantly giving positive affirmations even when they are undeserved. But I don't necessarily want to be the Tiger Mom who uses derision and contempt unless my child gets full marks on everything. So a bit of a rough night, hopefully I can find a decent middle ground here as a parent.
  23. I picked it up last night, got lucky and grabbed the only PC copy at my local Gamestop. I decided to use the gamepad to play and I think that is a better option. The combat was a bit awkward for me with a mouse and keyboard, my Xbox controller works a lot more naturally. It's been fun so far, just finished off the tutorial area and a nearby mine.
  24. I think it's important to have folks in DC pushing small government like Ron Paul, I just don't know if I think he should be the President.
