  1. Short skirts and AR-15 rifles are not the same thing.
  2. Vice City had an amazing soundtrack, so if they are missing any of the synthesizer goodness, it would be a shame.
  3. Is that the 3rd one? I enjoyed the first two King's Bounty games, but heard mixed thing about the recent one. Let me know how it goes.
  4. Yesterday I had a 10k race for Veteran's Day. Running has been very hard over the last couple months. I was dealing with a hip impingement and recently started physical therapy for it. I've actually only been back to regular run training for about 2 weeks, so I had low expectations going into the race. I had not run more than a 5k in about 6 weeks. But thankfully the race went amazing! I went out fast at a 6:30 pace, and was side by side with one of my run buddies the whole time. He's a strong runner and had won the even in 2019, so I figured I'd just see how long I could ride his tail. It got a bit harder after the 3-mile mark, but I was able to stick around and beat my buddy in the final sprint. I ended up with a 6:45 average pace and finished in just under 42 minutes. I got 4th place. It felt so good to be back out in a race that I signed my wife and I up for an Ironman 70.3 even in April. We will be racing in Oceanside around Camp Pendleton.
  5. Super excited for Willow. Also Warwick Davis living his Life's Too Short life in that trailer is fantastic.
  6. That floating rock sounds like a totally reasonable expense.
  7. https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/mayor-pete-pete-buttigieg-jesse-moss-chasten-buttigieg-193015615.html Here is something positive for this thread. I admit I didn't pay too much attention to Buttigieg during the primaries, but it is a pretty amazing story that an openly gay candidate was able to gain so much traction. We are barely removed from marriage and military service being denied to gay people. It is a big win for civil rights in this country.
  8. MSNBC is very liberal, so I'm not sure they represent the entirety of the media. Terrorist is a stupid term to use, but I don't get the hero worship he gets on the other side of the aisle. That seems even more dangerous. He was a dumb kid who crossed state lines with a gun to take part in a counter protest and then got into an altercation, and people died. It's a sad story nd it should be a cautionary tale.
  9. I'm not sure that is much consolation for derailing a career that took about 8 years of college, multiple years in the classroom, and then the slow climb up the administration ladder. Hopefully he can work in another district, because it isn't like principal jobs translate well into other fields of work.
  10. It doesn't come out for another week, I think.
  11. Like...in an actual theater?
  12. When I hear announcements like that from places that haven't fared well, it alwats seems strange to me. Like, are they bragging that all of the really vulnerable people are already dead at this point, so it should be smoother sailing?
  13. Only if you take advantage of exploits.
  14. If you can't handle a teenager lecturing politicians about their incompetence, there is something seriously wrong with you. It is a delight.
  15. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/big-bird-vaccine-announcement-sparks-backlash-conservatives-gop-n1283425 I had no idea Big Bird was only 6 years old.
  16. The last few episodes are a lot more lawyerly than the first few. But it is really Patty's show by the end.
  17. I don't know, that's kind of how I usually feel about the VP. It is weird that people even have a strong opinion of her when she is barely in the news.
  18. I binged Goliath last weekend. Did I mention that already? It was the last season. It started off a little strange, but it cleared everything up by the end. It was set in San Francisco and Chinatown, so it was great seeing all of the locations I frequent regularly.
  19. Wow, that backyard has the potential to be amazing. Looks like you are hosting the next Obsidian Forumites BBQ, LC.
  20. I watched Four Hours at the Capitol on HBO. Man, **** Trump. That was hard to watch.
  21. My son started on a swim team this last week. He is 11, and we spent a number of years enrolling him in YMCA classes over the summers, but he never really picked it up and was very nervous in the water. A few months ago my wife arranged for him to have 1 on 1 lessons with an excellent coach, and after 2 weeks he was way more comfortable. He could now backstroke and freestyle a bit and no longer was afraid to put his head under water. A couple weeks ago it was pretty nice out and I asked him after school if he wanted to go to the High School pool with me so I could get some laps in. He seemed happy to go, which was a big change from before the lessons. As we were finishing up, a swim club was getting ready to start, and they have a beginner group. I know the coach, and he said my son should join the club. I asked my son, and he was interested, which was another surprise. My kid has pretty much only wanted to play hockey, but this last year he had taken tennis and was now interested in swimming. I was excited to see him expanding his interests a bit. So anyway, we get him signed up, get him the swim jammers, and he starts swimming 45 minutes a day with this team. Monday through Thursday went well. Or rather I should say, he enjoyed it. I was anxious as hell. I was also on a swim team at his age. It was super competitive and I always felt like the slowest kid on the pool deck. I'm pretty comfortable in the water, but I definitely have some weird anxiety around swim coaches and teams. I told my wife I was getting anxious watching him and she told me to calm down. Friday rolls around and my son has a rough swim practice. It was cold and windy. They also moved him away from the shallow end. Monday through Thursday when he struggled, he could just stand up. He can't really swim a full length yet. But Friday it was basically swim 10 years, grab on to the lane line, then struggle for 15 more yards. He got out and was quiet. I couldn't tell if he was upset or just cold, but once we got in the car he totally teared up. He was upset. I tried to comfort him and told him it was the first week, and it will get easier. So now I'm all upset and can't sleep. I mean, obviously I will talk to the coaches and let them know it was hard for him to be out of the shallow end. But I don't want to traumatize the kid. I don't know, I'm probably letting my own anxiety get in the way here. He enjoyed Monday through Thursday and had one rough day. Ugh.
  22. I don't understand why everyone thinks they need to have an opinion on the vaccine and they need to explain it. I leave all my medical decisions to medical professionals. My doctor told me to get it or my doctor told me not to get it is literally the only thing anyone should have to say about it.
  23. Buster is the best baseball player I have ever watched. I mean, I got to see him in the minors. I got to see his first at bat. I watched him guide pitching staffs to 3 World Series and a perfect game. He played the toughest position in the sport and it was amazing to see. I know Bonds was a better hitter, and I have enjoyed watching some great pitchers as well, but Buster was just the total package. He controlled the game masterfully.
  24. Buster Posey is retiring tomorrow. I have a lot of feels about this. I don't know where to start.
