  1. Nixon is a complicated President. He could have really dragged out the 1960 election considering how close it is, but he didn't want to come across as a sore loser. Can you imagine a modern politician making that decision? I crashed my bike Tuesday night on a group ride. I was taking a corner pretty tight and trying to catch the back of the group, but a car was coming the other direction, so I ended up going wide on a bad line. I hit a rock and tumbled a few times. Physically I'm doing good. I jammed my thumb and it is purple, and I got some superficial scrapes. But I busted the back wheel on my bike. I also need to replace the front brake, which was giving me issues and probably contributed to the crash. Luckily I still have my triathlon bike, and I managed a good ride on it last night. I have two weeks until my Half Ironman, so I'm just keeping it interesting.
  2. I bought it, so I'll give it a go this weekend.
  3. I enjoyed the whole season. Eagly is the best sidekick ever.
  4. Even if it is just an algorithm?
  5. I threw out the ledger book a long time ago. I actually spent all day Saturday watching my daughter play field hockey at Cal Berkeley. She was taking part in a club tournament. It was a fantastic day out. I did get in a nice little hour run before the games started. That is one hilly campus.
  6. Not a bad idea. My kids get me out of all sorts of uncomfortable social situations.
  7. Elex II has some really engaging quest threads to pull on. Rather than just having stationary NPC's stand there and hand out assignments, they have a bunch that will travel with you and have full conversations during the missions. These aren't just the recruitable NPC's, either. I'm impressed by the depth of it all.
  8. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZGD53JF/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_SZE2Y0Q88J9ZMG5ZAV6S Controllers are pretty cheap for the pc, too. I have a couple of these on hand and they work perfectly.
  9. It seems to really push the Berserker faction on you early. I'm also concerned that I've committed to them too much early on, but hopefully I haven't passed the point of no return.
  10. Too much Elden Ring in this thread right now, so I want to remind everyone that I am playing Elex II and it is fantastic. I've improved my relationship with my son and my baby mama. I haven't had much luck with my infected arm though. Hopefully I get to cut it off and attach a chainsaw. Battle Brothers also released a free DLC with new starting scenarios, so I might need to get into that again.
  11. Huh. I actually think the LCD screens look like an upgrade from the green screen tech, but it is still a poor replacement for traditional set design.
  12. In essence, there is a pretty clear delineation between pitching and position players, much like with football and their offense and defensive lineups.
  13. Uh...8 is early? Man, that is like 2nd breakfast time for me.
  14. Hah, gotta love that the owners gave two hard deadlines that would lead to cancelled games, and the players waited out both and we still will get a full season. I'm interested in seeing how the pitch clock works. I'm comfortable with the DH now. I'm ok with banning the shift, although I would have rather seen hitters figure it out and adjust their games to exploit it.
  15. Of course, the ruble is also worthless now, so cash isn't exactly a solution either.
  16. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-africa-60689699 Yay for preservation of ancient documents!
  17. I appreciate that Elex 2 lets you try and be a decent dad, even though you start as a deadbeat. Although considering Dax's background, he could be a lot worse.
  18. Two 1st-round picks seems to be a pretty good haul for a 33-year old QB. It is reasonable to assume he will start seeing diminishing returns as he ages.
  19. Hah, I remember Two Worlds 2 was a pretty crazy open world game. It was ahead of its time in a number of ways.
  20. Hah, I totally get it. 10-15 hours is just enough to be like, "The next one will be different and keep my attention the whole time!"
  21. Huh? I've enjoyed it tremendously. Although I have literally dodged a few bullets in the game, so that must be what you mean.
  22. 5 hours is a miniscule window to evacuate a city, so "right away" is still very accurate. Anything less than 24 hours can be considered breaking the ceasefire "right away". When a historian writes about this a century from now, that is how it will look on paper.
  23. I keep reading that the Russian State media is pushing the narrative that civilian deaths are the fault of the Ukrainian military and I don't understand how that argument works for anyone. If a stray missile hits an apartment building, it doesn't matter if it was Ukrainian or Russian. The missile would not be fired if Russia was not in Ukraine, so it is completely the fault of Russia. I mean, I get that it is propaganda, but it still boggle my mind that it works.
  24. The only two games my wife has ever really played were WoW and TOR, so I'd think the learning curve will not be an issue. Co-op was a lot of fun early on as you quest together, considering you roll to see who gets to have their say. If only that worked in real life.
  25. The nagging is realistic and justified. Don't be a deadbeat dad.
