  1. This project seems a bit odd. The Star Trek license is hot right now. The movies are huge blockbusters. If the studios really wanted to launch a new TV show, they would probably just do it. I don't think a low budget pilot is going to win them over.
  2. Aren't console gamers already paying a monthly fee to get playing online at all? Not on the Playstation, but they pay a much smaller fee to play on Xbox Live. That's why I'm curious what the sub price will be, if they keep it at $10 or under, they might attract more people from the console world.
  3. I can't believe LC just dissed my boy Ryan Gosling.
  4. I've actually been playing The Cave, which has been pretty entertaining.
  5. It will also be interesting to see how console gamers respond to a subscription model.
  6. It will take a few months and then it's going free 2 p(l)ay. What makes TES games have so many hardcore fans is the modding support, which you won't get in a online game. So yeah, people will run away from it fast, I am pretty sure. See that is kind of the weird thing. They will have to go f2p eventually, that is a given. Even successful MMO's are doing that, WoW being the only exception. So why are they even starting with a sub model? It seems like bad business. I would think it would be smarter to offer a VIP status for a monthly fee, and then microtransactions for f2p folks. That has been very successful for many different developers. That being said, the mod community is a super small group and will not make a sizable impact. If The Elder Scrolls Online succeeds, it will be because it does well on all the major consoles, just like Oblivion and Skyrim.
  7. Dang Nep, I didn't see this post earlier. I hope it's something minor, get well soon.
  8. Even Pearl Harbour ? That was definitely the director. I am not a Michael Bay hater, he is very good at the summer popcorn flick thing, but that movie needed to have an axe taken to it. In fact I bet if that movie was 90 minutes and not 180, it would probably be a decent watch.
  9. Any other Robin Hobb fans here? I just finished her Dragon, uh, whatever one more than a trilogy is. It was good, but I hope she leaves this universe behind now and returns to the one she made in Soldier's Son. I'm a bit tired of dragons in general, but I still like her spin on it.
  10. My eye twitches when I see rouge confused with rogue. That probably isn't healthy. That is true. He writes as a living, he is publised, so he is. How good he is is irrelevant. It is pretty relevant to Dragon Age, given that he has played a huge role in the creation of the universe.
  11. I'm fine with the sub model and a store, but I hope the subscription is a bit cheaper than $15 a month. Microtransactions are a huge part of the MMO future.
  12. Like everyone in Edmonton, alanschu lives in an igloo, so the teepee doesn't need to be that big.
  13. That's the way to do it, I'm always surprised when I hear about parents making separate food for their kids. They eat what I make or they go hungry Granted I usually toss a Peanut Butter sandwich at them before bed to stop the whining.
  14. Dragon Age Inquisition doesn't come out for another year, so staying strictly on topic would be pretty boring. We were talking about David Gaider and his place as a fantasy writer, so all this fantasy writer talk is plenty relevant.
  15. I enjoyed a few rounds of Chivalry, but the game really needs more than just deathmatch in this day and age. Give me some decent stat tracking, unlockables, or something that every other game has nowadays.
  16. That's the thing, much like with KIlmer and Clooney, it makes me a bit nervous to have these really well established actors taking on Batman. These guys all have a bit of a limited range, they typically find success playing the same charismatic persona in every film. But I'll be hoping for the best out of Affleck. Speaking of Batman, I watched this movie "Clear History" with Larry David the other day, and Michael Keaton showed up in a crazy role. I barely recognized him. He was great.
  17. " Somosas" Most people probably won't know they are. We have a strong Indian community in South Africa so Somosas are very common and delicious. They aren't that good for you as they suppose to be fried in oil but with the various options as ingredients they can be very yummy . My favourite is the potato and cheese I baked them instead of frying, so they were pretty healthy. They came out pretty good, I need to get better at making the dough, but I nailed the filling.
  18. So Ben Affleck is apparently the new Batman... I really like Ben. I have no idea how I feel about this news though. I don't think Bruce Wayne when I see him.
  19. I've determined that I will make baked Somosas tonight. It should be a challenge, wish me luck. I think I have everything except for one or two spices, I'll try to supplement. I wonder if cumin powder instead of seeds will be an issue.
  20. I'd actually say Martin is more ridiculous than Jordan, since at least Jordan was turning out books at a somewhat regular pace. This topic has taken an interesting turn, Mass Effect and Fantasy writers
  21. Interesting, no meat? We only have meat about once a week in our house for dinner. My wife got pancreatitis last year and we had to change our diet quite a bit. It has led to some interesting challenges, but I enjoy it. That's why I typically add rice, beans, or lentils to help make the potatoes a complete protein. Thanks for explaining, how are the kids handling the change in food? I assume the new diet is considered very healthy? It is healthier, as long as we don't overload on the carbs. The kids are very good about it. Some people act like it's a huge deal that they don't get a lot of meat, but our Pediatrician is Indian and a vegetarian and she thinks it's great I give the kids corn dogs or chicken nuggets about once a week as well, so they get a bit of extra meat there. I actually have trouble with red meat after eating like this for the last year, so I stick to chicken, turkey, pork, and fish even when I do eat meat. I'll eat a burger on occasion.

  23. I haven't decided yet, I've got some yellow potatoes to start with, probably will use peas as the vegetable, so I just need to figure out how I want to cook them and if I want to introduce rice or lentils to the meal. I've got some onions and garlic as well, might mix those in somewhere.
  24. I didn't mean to imply Salvatore is a great writer. He is good. Gaider is pretty new to the novel world, so I'm not sure what he will become. Actually I read Salvatores first three books when I was young, they were probably worse than what Gaider has done. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Woods_Out_Back
  25. Not even close. Yeah I have to agree. Believe it or not, the simple style that Salvatore writes in is not that easy to pull off. He keeps a quick pace, develops characters smoothly, and is easy to read. He's also a professional that churns out a ton of content every year. Gaider has grown as a novelist, but he's not in the same class yet.
