  1. What purpose would that serve? Why make it mandatory for everyone to have even more these UI markers all over the scenery telling them where to go and what to do? Why not just make the highlight key an On/Off toggle instead?
  2. Cheating? Who cares, as long as it's optional? I tend to forget to use it, because I enjoy "pixel hunting" more.
  3. This sounds like a memory leak to me. Or throttling due to insufficient cooling/dust? (I'm no computer expert, though.)
  4. Is there any difference between the companions when it comes to active/passive abilities? Do some of them require more/less micromanagement than others? (Not really asking for specifics/spoilers, just a general idea.) Or would I be better off using adventurer's hall characters for "low maintenance" party members?

  6. @TheGoatMan AA toggle is in the works. http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/72049-workarounds-for-several-known-issues-3-27-15/
  7. Supposedly the IE mod does/will change the backer names into "proper" fantasy ones (among other wondrous things). Haven't tried the IE mod myself, though.
  8. I'm getting a lot of screen tearing, as well, on my not-very-good vista laptop (Aero disabled). Might try that, thanks for the tip! Update: Yup, that takes care of the screen tearing, alright! (Both with Aero's transparency On and Off. Not sure if either significantly affects performance.)
  9. Didn't one of the devs say (some time ago) that they were hoping to do something about the party-wide sneaking, either in a patch or in the expansion? Can't quite recall which thread that was in.. Edit: http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/70311-new-engine/page-3?do=findComment&comment=1566279
  10. @Darth Trethon There are two additional installers in my GOG library: "Pre-Order Bonus Item and Pet" and "Kickstarter Item". (I'm guessing that would be the ring+piglet and the cloak, respectively.)
  11. @Ieo Well, the 'Dual Core Support?' thread got moved here from the general discussion forum, so I doubt that would serve any purpose. I also saw a green name browsing that particular thread earlier, so.. Pure speculation, but maybe they're prioritizing getting everyone their keys and whatever other things devs do a couple of hours before release? Idk
  12. Is that an updated version of Neo Scavenger or something? Any good?
  13. To what extent do the altered minimum requirements reflect actual changes in game performance? Or is it just a way of saying "We tried, but can't *officially* support anything below this"?
  14. I'm a bit torn on this one. Guess I'll go with 50% apples and 50% oranges.
  15. So Expert Mode disables the [insert skill here] tags in conversations (+hides inaccessible options?), and makes the first death permanent (instead of first being a status effect), correct? What else does it do? Great video, btw! Very comprehensive.
  16. The "don't use it" argument only works up to a certain point. This is why there are often game modes like "ironman" (the name of the PoE equivalent escapes me atm.). Sometimes people want boundaries and rules that push back* - and trying to be both player and GM sometimes ends up feeling like playing chess against oneself. *Or at least create that illusion. Having the option to [dis]allow respeccing be something that is determined on a per-campaign basis (like ironman and, in some games, difficulty level) seems like it would work for both camps, though.. Balance/exploit issues notwithstanding, ofc.
  17. Fighting spiders! Oh and the scripted interstitions! And descriptions in dialogue!
  18. What is the reason for not auto-saving both before and after level transition? Takes too much time or something?
  19. Not sure there's a right answer to that one. I mean, if it saves before transition, then you have to load two areas if you died without saving in the new area.
  20. It's a text-heavy cRPG. I think the devs have been pretty clear about this on several occasions.
  21. Remember, this is one of those things that people really hate about JRPGs. It also takes away the opportunity to use monster parts as crafting ingredients, which is just, like ... I dunno, that's integral to this genre in my mind. I mean, come on, are you telling me NOT to play some kind of wild-eyed murderhobo? Well, I was responding to Gifted1's idea, which concerned items that weren't quest/enchanting related... [Edit: or is enchanting not the same as crafting? (No beta access)] I will remember that about JRPGs, though!
  22. I don't mind this being optional, [...] Then we seem to agree about that. In fact, the highlight key - as implemented in various games - seems to be one of those instances where 'make it optional' actually works, without leading to a whole lot of "split design" issues. Hopefully, the same can be true of those loot sparkles.
