  1. We are the sum of our memories/experiences, in that sense we aren't changing but building who we are. So while the adolescence phase offers a well spring of that, as we master the basic skills to become independent and understand who we are, what our role, relationships etc.. its doesn't stop there it's never too late make new memories/experiences e.g. which is why new relationships in the getting to know each other are always exciting and confusing or why kids will be exciting and confusing same goes for everything else friends\job\vacations\hobbies...
  2. Its not the first helicopter they downed(third this month?), and wont be the last one with what they have there. In other news, Sloviansk(where this happened) is still center of fighting, and recently separatist militiamen abducted four osce monitors. According to the self-proclaimed mayor of Sloviansk ( the guy who previously claimed that the reporter that was abducted/roughed up was making an investigative piece there, and previously provided convenient proof of red sector attack with nice rolls of dollars couple of hours after an attack before any investigation) said they are safe and soon will be released. Also recently the separatists militiamen attacked Donetsk airport and made attacks on army checkpoints. Additionally, here is the new Ukraine's President Petro Poroshenko profile
  3. only now Honestly the only silly thing here is assume that Putin cares how silly his statements are, or what collateral is incurred as long as it they get the job done. ( Kind like oby about antisemitism, like he gives a **** ) In other news: As predicted, Putin signs economic union deal with ex-Soviet states.
  4. Yes. Here its more like scout\surpise\stab then manuver\incapacitate\stab
  5. First fires? is this a new district we are first hearing about or the name for the forth nameless district mention before? dat wild Aloth, we still know nothing about him.. I suppose they keep all details for E3 exclusives well that how it works, if you want good press you need to give them more than a recycled info\question already asked in hundred variations before .. I kind of assumed it was the biamhac. Is this one of the entrances to the mega-dungeon? I also would like to know what kind of encampment we see in that screenshot(real pretty). Also entrances? is the maga-dungeon suppose have more than one entrance?
  6. We know that disengagement attack cause hit animation on the fleeing character, but I am not sure what goes on the attacker side. Ghosted animation? as in there no visual feedback on the attacker side or maybe it will restart\speed-up his current attack and attempt to reengage? Btw, can a fighter in defense mode engaging several targets switch his focus? ( I hope that spotting who is swinging (engaging) won't be too hard, better yet a note or visual feedback might be nice )
  7. JS answered this at least in part: I assume that all attacks\actions\abilities are initiated from stationary position only and that upon catching its pray the pressure will auto-stop. Which would lead to engagement, forcing the pray to stop. From here its normal combat, if the pray attempt to move away at any point before/after hit frame it will suffer disengagement attack. Although how the "free" disengagement attack animation work with everything else is little sketchy.
  8. ^most meddlesome middlemen, huh ?! the idea that customers pay more for higher quality service isn't new e.g. postal service charges customers more to deliver time sensitive packages overnight than normal two/three days delivery, same goes for the internet the idea that business pay extra for guaranteed connectivity, QoS (security, support etc) is common practice.. even you pay for better speed\data packages. Anyway, as before I see no problem what so ever with the new law, in fact IMO its a necessary and welcome step to ensure QoS, after all we passed the internet "porn phase", no ones pays for high bandwidth to watch HQ porn today the same infrastructure delivers internet\tv\phone\etc to our homes and to many business and we expect a certain QoS. ( At least it would be here, but since this is really a USA think all I can say from previous discussion is that the problem is really with your lack of competition in the infrastructure\internet provider market )

  10. How about orlan ranger with a pet flea? I like the new takes to our godlike hamster with a pet human ranger
  11. *sigh* FWIW the unified mechanics JS employed should allow to quantify builds strength and make something like this possible, with something like 'Path of the Damned' mode, but i'd be really disappointed. ( I hear Bethesa has been doing some great stuff with such dynamic encounters if that your thing) This an RPG! you guys want to choose a crazy travelling troupe, go for it! but deal with consequence that you probably encounter hardship on your adventures! We already made all classes capable in combat and flexible, that its impossible to go wrong. Sure there are few unique rock-paper-scissors aspect between class groups, but overall most class abilities overlap or even different by name only. So f*** your damn scaling encounters, lets not make our party choice completely meaningless. I prefer to adjust my party composition based on where I go from what I learned (dialogue/cyclopedia/etc), I want to feel that certain compositions work better in then other, I want to discover which compositions work better then other as I push into Endless Paths of Od Nua lower levels. I don't want to meh its just scale to whatever I bring.... If the devs have extra to build\test something like this i'd prefer more nuances in dialogue based on my character race\class\dispositions\........ With all those thread, my first thought upon seeing this thread was: 1 front-line\both heavy hitters\1 support\2 magic users. Which is last thing I want to think about in RPG. /rant.
  12. But it was a buff, which is always centered on the character.. It could easily be a circle around the caster when you hold the mouse over the spell (so you know who's in it's AoE). I see no reason to have the circle in the actual spell effect though, that's just useless clutter IMO. So to clarify; * Go to spells * Hover over buff. Circle shows area of effect. * Click buff. Since self-cast automatically goes into casting, no aiming. * No circle, just the effect on characters which dissapates rather fast (which perhaps a few exceptions which should stay visible). That would work if you were the only person casting spells. Right now when any of the enemies or one of your party members that wasn't under your direct control, cast a buff you can see at glance who is effected. While your suggestion would require me to hover over each character around to see their infobox, that or make them all glow. (which would make a fine spectacle once more than buff is initiated)
  13. Though, that doesn't sound anything like PoE with its hand crafted encounter... more like a rouge like, where it would be easy to scale its random crap.
  14. @Orogun01, Of course one is part of global campaign to raise awareness to help those girls. The other is a cynical use of their suffering for its own agenda... But then I suppose that your post was just a kneejerk reaction to seeing America not in negative light.
  15. Looking at the slideshow with supposed ingame map, I just realized that our stronghold isn't in Dyrwood, its in Eir glanfath side of border. So its probably an abandoned relic from the time Ayder Empire was in charge, built as forward operating base or for defense during its drive into the area and the two wars that followed.
  16. Lessons from recent IE playthroughs: Big world project - takes a looong time to install, don't use experimental content and don't be too greedy -- its a big lady and unless you have a lot of time to handle her, you'll never going to hear her sing.
  17. Good news, our job isn't to help them, but to help them help themselves, otherwise in the end its usually comes back to bite us in the ass.
  18. I have no idea which party composition I want, let alone which class I'll pick. Usually it takes me an hour+ with game\manual before I decide which class I fancy for my first play-through, while my party will be determined by the story and companions personality, at least for my first play-throughs. Later it would depend on whatever picked my interest and or what mods will be available ( I understand that whole issue, around modding maps, but if they don't make it easy to mod every thing else i.e. new companions\quests, i'd be disappointed ). With that said, based on what I know I am most intrigued by the Rouge class. They seem to be higher maintenance then the rest, but that much more rewarding, plus they are perfect for ambushes and find hidden treasures! Next is the Fighter, while its probably the most conservative\boring, they seem like the most obvious choice to explore the new engagement mechanics, especially when carefully placed in bottle neck and serve as Linchpin for the rouge. Monk/Chipper/Chanter seem to have an interesting mechanics, but I am cautious about them. The Wizard\priest\druid\paladin seem more or less IE verity, and Ranger seem like too easy class. (solid, ranged heavy hitter)
  19. Highlighted the relevant parts, to help you understand why the above simple concept aren't contradictory. If you haven't actually soloed bg, you might want read why it was possible ( hint highlighted )
  20. I also had no idea, what that argument was about. kiting shmiting, unless its something the developers consider/planed and built the game around, its an exploit regardless if its realistic or not.
  21. Wtf, are you arguing that we should have the choice to solo the game? because we already can, end of story. The question at hand is how disadvantaged you should be trying todo so. JS quote in the OP stated that would be hard especially for inexperienced players, which is exactly how it should be. Soloing in a Party based game should be the equivalent of one of the extra challenge mode i.e very hard. Otherwise we mostly likely going to end up with waterdown game for everyone else (since I doubt that with only 12 levels solo player higher xp gain would have such a huge impact) Gifted1 want everyone to be gifted at everything i.e. less distinct class roles\abilities, so that your solo player will be able to deal with every situation, without pesky thing like class strength\weakness and party mechanics that encourage tactical gameplay. In other words lets throw tactics out of the window, everyone can deal with everything *push 1* *push 1* *push 1*
  22. Full Control already did this, sort of. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=iTYLBQ_lq2A What a wonderful surprise (its been a while since I visited the forum) is the game any good?
  23. That because Solo means one character see title, not "2 characters, or 3, or 4" or different compositions.. we all like to experiment with different compositions, kick annoying companions and soloing for a whiling (e.g. in dungeon with high stealth requirements) can be intriguing. However, overall playing solo in game designed as party based, where most mechanic are tied to it is a weird quirk. More so when its an RPG where your companions supposed to help bring the setting come alive, and you'll be throwing away the option to interact\lore\quest is... Anyway definitions aside, the discussion at hand is about the viability of solo play. I maintain that a game can't be a jack of all trades, if encounters designed for a party can be soled by same level character the game combat related mechanics are broken, it is as simple as that. So while nothing prevents you from soloing, it should be extremely difficult, made viable due to higher experience\level gain(allowing to overpower the enemies), use of lower game difficulty(less enemies), a lot of save\loading and or gamy tactics(read as exploits) that always can be found.
  24. There is definition gap here, I intentionally haven't used the term kiting. To me any good use you can make of your ability is valid tactic, those spells included. However, you should understand that there are class which role/abilities allow them to counter your tactic easily. Playing 6 one class character should be possible, but much harder in situation to which the class isn't suited for. This goes double for solo character playing without the benefit of party\tactics, going against overwhelmed odds by an enemy who has much superior selection of tactic\abilities e.g. A solo wizard should be easily silenced\stunned\interrupted and quickly dispatched by couple of monks coming from different directions. (I hope that some enemies can stealth so that you can be sneak attacked by a Rouge) On the contrary, if normally a player can ignore class roles, and win overwhelming encounters then the game has poor design, difficulty level or AI. He should have a chance because soloing he got so much experience\levels and can overpower everyone or more likely because he will be using **** load of save\load and gamy tactics that the AI can't use. (i love that alerted enemy's call for reinforcement, this way no boring drawing enemies one by one)
  25. @Gfted1, Start with planing, engagement its a mechanic that works both ways. You'd be able to engage enemies who tries to rush your wizard\support, with those at the front holding the line while you abuse them from behind, who will get the same penalties as you'r wizard if they try to disengage. Those who avoid being intercepted, wade through a barge of attacks\abilities\spells such as the ones you described and catch your wizard. I believe that Cipher mind wave stun, paladin shake it off and Wizard Grimoire Slam are some of the abilities that would allow you to break engagement and get your wizard to safety. Alternatively Arcane Veil will give you 10 seconds of safe haven, while your rogue can flank and sneak attack your opponent for maximum effect. Those are just the ones I am familiar with, honestly from the little that we know the system seem very forgiving..
