  1. I hear you, but I don't think that NOW (with everything almost at alpha), it is the time todo overhauls . Furthermore, I don't want to be a party pooper but someone has to say it, don't get you expectation too high concerning verity, despite the amount of work the devs put into the game, realistically first iteration of any game isn't too large on verity.. only with expansion and later version they can expand by build on previous materials. Personally, I'd be happy if bears, wolfs and Staelgars will be in as seen on god of the hunt concert art. http://pillarsofeternity.gamepedia.com/File:Galawain_conceptart.jpg
  2. I believe that the stage for our guiding principle has already been set: http://pillarsofeternity.gamepedia.com/Soul
  3. I understand your claims that US\EU are just as bad, but let me ask second time can you show any specifics that would back those claims? that is what exactly USA\EU done in Ukraine that is out of the ordinary in world politics(and hasn't been used by other, and Russia in particular) and is somehow comparable to Russia recent actions? I made few corrections, to highlight your bias. While on the surface both seem to offer the same, your opinion seem to be predicated on the idea that EU bailout is nothing but means to buy political influence that will sink Ukraine into worse poverty, while Russia bailout will save them... That is interesting because I see the reverse situation. Last I checked Ukraine asked to join EU, EU don't need any free loaders and Ukraine had to meet the same standards like everyone else. The IMF assistance that was offered was predicated on affirmative action that would change the course of Ukraine poor performance. (so far Ukraine avoided far reaching reforms, which would be very un popular, and burned through it reserves bring us here). The current bailout attached to the same reforms. On the other hand we have Russia which actively lobbied for Ukraine to join its own trade union and its based in Ukraine for ever a decade, who applied economic pressure aggravating Ukraine economical crisis* and eventually offered to throw money at them to solve their problems. * not just gas prices and btw Ukraine payed less for gas, because they held monopoly over means of its transport from east to west, which is the same scheme Russia have been exploiting for long time. Yeah... For some reason I have this picture of cop crying "stop resisting" while beating some random guy senseless. yeah, Russia: stop resisting Ukraine ..
  4. iirc You can go to the IMF site there is a really long and detailed PDF explaining everything. Now same question with Russia..
  5. In our time many religion offer bliss. The idea that there is all powerful deity that cares, loves and forgives you no matter what your faults, that you are part of something bigger, that there is purpose to everything no matter how random it seems or how powerless you feel and in the end no matter how bad things are as long as you are good(or trying) you'd be rewarded. But our time isn't really a good comparison. Are you sure that several centuries back people didn't believe in afterlife, haven\hell and all the other mambo jumbo (even magic) with the same certainty that you do about gravity? (it takes a certain amount of certainty to burn a witch) I suppose what we will see is an exaggerated version of our own world from similar era, only here gods can actually interact with us, and soul magic allow us to tap in into power.
  6. I guess the shield is there because it is also a usable\equipable item that adds defensive bonus or something like that. Anyway, what I wasn't sure about is how many "base armor sets" we will have, that will receive the 3 quality standards treatment i.e. in the image we see ~5 armor types(4 if you don't want to count the tunic), while the wiki mentions 8: Tunic, Padded, Leather, Hide, Scale, Mail, Brigandine and Plate armor.
  7. I don't know about outrage, more like few enthusiasts correcting common misconceptions in regard to realism and historical accuracy, that got little carried away forgetting that its a game and what the devs want to achieve. Bottom line gameplay is always > realism, this game doesn't have a very stylized athletics of certain Fantasy games, and IMO the armor form is no exception to that. So the'll just have to deal with it, special materials, tailored, magic or just crazy fashion statement ..
  8. I don't know if I would call it lower tear armor, maybe common armor verity that we encounter through out our adventures? personally, I wouldn't mind using those sets, and das boots With said we already know that there will be unique sets of armor and at least one sets unique to a certain "faction" ( bronze Plate armor to animat constructs), so you would likely get your wish for more fantasy flare to your armor selection. Btw, if they provide 3 quality levels for each of the base armor types, then not even counting the unique sets, visually they have overshot bg2 selection which iirc was very limited, mostly differentiated through description images. here the 5? base types: Plus if they make this aspect of the game easily acceable to moders, you'd see far more ..
  9. What sides, Who is implicitly trusting what, Doesn't Russian media has a blunt conflict of interest? just because media outside of Russia reports show different picture then what Russia want, doesn't mean it takes sides. If you have an argument to make do it based on its merits, not by screaming Western media propaganda every time you see some "breaking news" you don't like\trust, which usually has cascading effect with two page of oby team chanting WMDs or some other stupid case they think that prove the rule. Noting attribution (i.e. according to) works far better/informative without enough space that we don't need to flash out our biases. Also just so you know, every conspiracy nut thinks he is riding the high horse of critical thinking, as oppose to pleasuring himself in the pursuit of narrative. You may like to think of yourself as critical thinker, but just as I find Russia being as the instigator here, taking a broader look on recent chain of power moves to assert its dominance and real estate grabs in region.(who in many is still stuck in the cold war era, blaming the west for its loss of power and status and perceive it as its arch enemy. Russia warned against NATO enlargement/expanded cooperation with former Soviet republics and ended up intervening under various tramped up pretexts in all those Soviet republics who cooperated with NATO and haven't been brought to heel --i.e. Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova, and other seem to brewing--, in a nice grouping of "breakaway" region in the Black-sea region which Russia considers as pivotal connector between central Europe and the Balkans in its revival mood.) While you have been pretty much following the script of Russia's narrative, even using almost identical terminology at times, making your supposed critical thinking a very one sided affair. (I have yet to see you challenging the official "party line") More importantly you always take great pain to put Russian state media on the same footing as Western media in you comparisons, which is false, both fundamentally and quantitatively based on all available data. This not about semantics or some stupid grand argument, but an important aspect of the situation in Russia, and its effect\influence\role in Eastern Ukraine with its large Russian ethnic population. While assertions such as yours only enforce the usual paradigms to people unfamiliar with sitaution, making it seem as if it is the usual Government incompetence and media bias we all love to rant about sometimes. P.s. if actually believe that this is some kind of grand argument, then lets agree to disagree on whatever it is, because we are way past the futilism mark in here, and I really don't care about it, no more than I care if the "high profile" report, what his name, that was abducted was treated according to the Geneva convention or not, but about the great picture of how it refelcts on general attitudes of the rebels toward comprise and negation, as well as their practices. (Like the recent assassination of the regional governor who supported all Ukrainian unity) "lying his ass off"? well DC guy, if you look at the linked interview couple of page back, you can see that speaker who recently provided the convent proof that red sector was behind a deadly shooting, couple of hours after the shooting, and his plea to save the region from so called western fascist was broadcasted all across Russia. Is the same speaker that confirmed that the reporter was held but fed and treated well in his detention(although before that he claimed that the reporter was just making an investigative piece on the SBU building, despite eye witness evidence that he was abducted, again the gaul). OT: I usually don't apologist for my poor English, but I had connection problems with the open WiFi at work which I am using using for this, and lately it has been really fickle, so I have been trying to crunch response even faster than usual, which produced rather poor results even to my eyes, with ridicules things I only notice after the fact, so sorry about that.
  10. I don't know how many iterations they had, but currently it is pretty much the same system like Russia. It is hard to cut lose old ties and certain practices from soviet era.. Pet movements, interesting choice of words, let me guess Pet movements with their "capitalist/democratic" experiments? Anyway I see Russia meddling which include a chain of intervention involving troops and agreesive media propaganda, attack on government and various economical sanctions to force Ukraine in line, what exactly you think that USA and or EU has done along those lines (not the usual stuff, that everyone is doing, including Russia)
  11. I you were speaking about failing to leverage the orange revolution of several years ago then I'd say that you are downplay the amount of fail. specifically the inability to take real steps to address the economic crisis and returning to soviet style corrupted and criminal system of state relations(like currently in Russia), but since your post seems to focus solely on the recent event and separatist crisis in particular, I think that you completely ignored external meddling part of the equation. Crisis usually unite people and drive through the need for compromise, but when someone playing the agitator driving the narrative against dialogue and comprise with who they frame as the fascist or west enemy, while pretending that their farts small of roses and will magically bring change, crisis tend to escalate into well fighting. @Zoraptor, had connection issues, later will reply to second part, hopefully by the end of the shift if I have more than a couple of free minutes.
  12. Very possible, any chance that Clîaban Rilag is Glanfathan for Old song i.e. the ruin near twin elms? This caught my attention, in a "in-between the lines" type of way... Specifically the "Sometimes" in that sentence. Does this mean that there will be people in the world that appear at various locations at various times? I.E. an anamfath might be in the Hall of Heroes when I get there the first time, but for another Player there is no anamfath the first time they get there. Or am I just reading into it? I suppose it depends on whether their presence offer any kind of interaction options i.e. passing tribal prince will be sharing stories about the world in the hall of warriors, being related to current events or quest(give quest?) or just random piece sets..
  13. Ahh, eye candy update, leaving us with taste for more. I love the plate\scale male\female armor variants, and that you put the time into differentiating quality levels visually. Also a verity of new locations and terms for us to fuse about, trying to fish for more info where Anslog's Compass? and who is xaurips and anamfath?
  14. Again you mis-characterize an argument, almost the third time in a row. I begin to suspect you do this on purpose to troll me, accusing me at using strawmen argument, while doing so yourself. No, I didn't said nor think that you claim that Russian media is good. In fact just couple posts back, i noted that you have no problem to acknowledgment the faults. What I wish to addressed, as stated in the second paragraph of the post you quoted (in bold): sadly after almost 100 pages, the oby "groups" commentators are still claiming that Russia media is the same as "western" media. Which can easily observed by anyone who will go over the last couple of pages.
  15. Here however, you have top side view, with large verity of different actions and creatures, with main goal is to distinguish each as much as possible in away that would be best viewed from our preservative, so it seem to me what you suggest is really counter productive. And that's why Titan Quest with ragdoll physics feels much better than Torchlight 2?? That's why Diablo 3 and Grim Dawn feel much better than Path of Exile? You have to have rag doll physics in games, emphasis on the PHYSICS as in physicality which brings immersion to the world! Interesting, thanks for providing example as a point of reference. I looked at Titan Quest and Diablo 3. You have a point there. However a. I am not certain technically speaking it is possible (without additional maps or at all) b. the only effects that IMO can't be replicated are these "power slams" which either throw the creatures back or out of the screen for ever hit in X hits, which works well in actiony button musher providing some verity in animation among the endless hords you slay, but might not be as notable or fit as well in what I believe to be a slower paced game, with much smaller hand crafted encounters. c. PoE isn't diablo3 in terms of budget so such out of the boxs extension might not be in their price range. Bottom line, while I do not object to any technical marvel the devs can use to spice up the visuals (we already seen some nice examples with spells, and they are certainly going to improve with the further the game progress), I trust devs judgment on the cost/effect scale with this. (so far the game is better and better with each iteration, and seem to go along the "right" path)
  16. You guys remind me the obama mania, only here its not about some cultural thing(first women will get the same), nor is it a passing thing, but cult personality that has been going for 15 years. I guess some people feel more powerful/cool/whatever when they lead by someone who perceived as such.
  17. You have to understand that every tool has a purpose e.g. this would work great in GTA game, where you interact and observe everything from up close first/third person, don't have too many realistic interaction and all characters are exclusively human. So adding ragdols mechanics that can interact with the environments in unpredictable ways adds to the experience noticeably. Here however, you have top side view, with large verity of different actions and creatures, with main goal is to distinguish each as much as possible in away that would be best viewed from our preservative, so it seem to me what you suggest is really counter productive.
  18. I am not certain he was aware that some of those are backer portraits, and overall just asking about in game portraits verity in terms of facial features. Some people spend hours with facial gens in certain games (I usually click few times on random until its close enough to what I want). BG2 had more than few portrait packs so its not a big leap to what he ask about, me think.
  19. looks like North Korea is breaking bad.
  20. Its just yet another deflection, shoveled every time we point out the issues of Russia state media in this, redirecting by suggesting that we think that there no issues with western media, that its squeaky clean or whatever. Even though none of the involved ever claimed that, and as far as I recall all argued for using several media outlets to get the whole picture. After that we are back to the same "Russian and western media are the same" - Which is what we want to address here, the fundamental understanding that Russian mass media, being state media plays major role in Russia's coordinated misinformation campaign; that "western media" isn't one entity, so unless in your vocabulary everything western is substitutable with "foreign enemies" let stop with broad generalizations; lastly when most media outlets(not just western) show completely different turn of event than Russian media, it might be prudent todo some of that critical thinking and discuss why.
  21. Not exactly, existing campsites are still in where you can rest freely, but strictly speaking yeah rest-spamming is out, so is abusing maimed status.
  22. Do we even break stealth? which in IE games was like invisibility, maybe here sneaking is more worldly concept, being noticed by one guard who alert other to your position doesn't mean the others see you. Of course if you fighter start attacking his "radi" will increase significantly and draw attention, but what about the ranger, can he shoot from scouting mode remaining invisible most of the time?
  23. I don't know who is more delusional oby who considers West Ukraine as US colony, or you do... --- At least we know where they got this message of the day: http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-27166923 first few seconds of the interview where the Russian foreign minister accuse the west at attempting a land grab.. you got to love the audacity and the 180 spin. It is their strategy to confuse the masses, throw any accusation back at them, until facts on the ground will pave over the truth and empty words will be gone with the wind. Also OSCE monitors were seized in Sloviansk by pro-russian militias. Yes, latest RT news branded OSCE observers as NATO spies, so here we go... But its always nice when you can't be too sympathetic with abduction (or overall too sympathetic with cause to see collateral). Yes the idea that 'Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe' is sending into a military conflict, observers with military background is shocking indeed. While local authority providing security to external observers at least until they reach to rebel held territory where they negotiate their passage is certainly ground breaking.. same goes for simply baring entry from OSCE observers, but I suppose that an abduction and broadcasting NATO spies has more catchy tune to it then refuse to cooprate with OSCE observers. (one reinforce the narrative that the west is out to get them and allows them to both sends a message to EU to stay out, the other counter productive to their interests) What isn't shocking is that here like in Crimea (only several degrees worse) Observers/reporters anyone who isn't with the program are assaulted. Also I'd appreciate little consistency around here, you can't rant about the horrible government sending the troops against helpless civilians when you yourself regard it as "rebel held territory", armed militias who can take on military convoys and blow up military choppers. ( although I suppose you'd probably go with Russia "WMD" timeline clamming its Ukraine who started it) As for spies, if I was NATO, ignoring local assets, i'd send my spies through Russia and in more obscure roles then big convoy of people clearly designated as EU observers. But lets be honest, its not about about spies, but control on information.. you just way to happy to parrot RT headlines. EDIT: Also couple of interspersing simply analysis of the situation: * Ukraine crisis: Is war inevitable? * Ukraine shooting highlights Russian media tactics
  24. I think this article might shed some light on the how these way of thinking are coming about and what it means for Russia.
