What you've been drinking lately.
Great weekend with the guys. One of them had a kid so we got together to celebrate.. Us 'uncles' gave the lad a 18 year old Springbank - on the condition that in 18 years we all gonna drink it together (with him). A really good single malt and I'm looking forward to it. I tried the 10 year old and it was probably the best I've had yet (although truth be told, not a good whiskey/scotch drinker) For the celebration I had bought a 'Plantation Nicuragua', while I knew the dad had an opened Barbados - I love the sweeter rums, but these were surprisingly good and smokey. But the crown was the St. Lucia.. Seriously, if you like rum, find this. One of the strongest tasting rums I've had, with hints of honey, cinnamon and a sweet peppery aftertaste..

The General Combat Thread
This is exactly why they are doing the beta - to get valuable input to polish the final product. So great feedback is great, no need to feel bad about it
-
The General Classes Thread
They will be seeing enough activity that it won't be needed and allowing other threads to form and be seen. If we pin all the General Discussions, it would fill half the page

Please discuss your thoughts, ideas, complaints, suggestions etc. on combat in Pillars of Eternity here.

The General Discussion Threads
To minimize the number of threads and to ensure it's easier for you guys and the devs, we are making a few general discussion threads - so please post in the relevant threads, unless you feel your particular subject falls well outside of them. If it does however, please create a general thread yourself of that given topic, so we can centralize the discussions. If we agree, we'll add it to the master list. Thank you. Post Your Mobile Devices!
Google Nexus 10 tablet and a Samsung 2 (old and starting to die) Both work great together and I generally really like Google devices.. Although I am thinking about trying out the Nokia Lumia 635. Does anyone have good/bad experience with the Lumia series?

Star Wars Episode 7 Thread
Right now, officially, the only things considered canon in Star Wars are the films and the upcoming products, IIRC. Thank god, most of the EU is an absolute mess. Clean slate and some actual writing talent on it would be much appreciated, it's a universe with a lot of potential. Keep Thrawn though..

Police arrest, attack reporters; order reporters NOT to cover protest. IN UNITED STATES.
Princeton study claims America has degenerated into an oligarchy, which would explain police brutality - gotta keep the plebs in order. source. (and the whole thing)

What's on the idiot box... Part 3
Utopia - a strange british tv series about conspiracy and comics.. It's light hearted at times and then goes crazy the next, with little kids being murdered and tortured and then later in the same episode funny and ackward flirting. Which oddly makes it all seem a lot more realistic.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt [2014]
New video with some more gameplay - combat looks nice and fluid. The fighting starts at 2:00 for the impatient

Movies you've seen recently
I was expecting her to act like a 16 year old girl with anorexia and not some 30-40 year old writer's teen fantasy.

^ yep, the teenagers are simply growing up and becoming jaded adults and realizing that the world ain't as awesome as the 90's commercials they grew up on told them. And course it's easier to have a snotty anti-authoritarian attitude than actually trying to make the change you wish to see. That being said - from a citizens point of view I often feel that the police get away with negligence a lot more often than they should. A simple "yeah, we screwed up" would come a long way as a bare minimum. Killing a guy should kick off a very serious public scrutiny of the whole episode, ensuring that force of this magnitude is only used when absolutely necessary (and preferably not at all).

The Funny Things Thread.
The new season has been pretty light on good insults, I felt Black Beard vs Capone was the only one that came really close to a real rap battle.

Movies you've seen recently
I had to stop half way through How I live now, I found the main character unbelievably emotionally immature and over dramatic. It reminded me of anime in a sense..

What are you playing now?
Bought Xenonauts from GOG, seriously a great investment.. I never got to play the original UFO Enemy Unknown, but I enjoyed Firaxis newer version.. Looking at gameplay videos of the old game, I felt Xcom went a little too soft though, I wanted to build several bases and feel like I had to make sacrifices to win. In comes Xenonauts, it's basically the same game with all the same aliens, alot harder, less pretty and quite a bit more strategic. Combat is fast and unforgiving and I really feel like I'm playing an old 90s game with updated graphics.. Awesome, really recommend it!

Are liberal democracies finished?
Hmm, I think there's defintly merit to the idea - if a democracy develops too quickly. If the general population is generally extremely educated, they will often create and contribute out of desire to self-realize I believe. But ultimately it's also mammal behaviour. Most of us will try to achieve our goals with the least amount of effort.
