A good troll can be a lot of fun (albeit frustrating for a mod), but most are despressingly obvious, bad at it and way to aggressive about it.

Which seems like an important part of an Alien horror game, right?

Caught the episode of Walking Dead, good season 5 start - but they really need to work on their pacing, it's a little too action hectic now.. perhap they're afraid of doing a another season 2 blunder? Also for the people reading the comic

I think the vast majority of internet trolls are just people bored and trying to let off some steam, but there will be a few interesting cases.. Which I think are the kinds this paper is about? or at least the kind that seem to get off on it

That kind of nonsense usually turns me off to a game, in fact now that I think of it - a lot of Japanese tropes do.

I personally think it's derived from a sort of negative reinforcement. They've been unsuccessful in getting positive attention and so they (being human and social being that crave attention rather that being ignored) resort to being obnoxious to at least get some reactions from people. Then they develop a "me vs them" mentality to cognitively handle the negativity. Not the healthiest approach, but I imagine it's a lot better than obscurity. Edit: It's derived from seeing how they will completely change character if you focus and compliment on positive aspects of their personality and actively try to get your approval afterwards, also avoiding the negative feedback loop.

I know, I think it was originally bought in 2001 actually (with a few upgrades a long the way) - I bought a completly new com afterwards, which would probably be better to have used as a comparison heh.

Did a small upgrade so I went through the thread to see what I started with back in the day.. It' pretty cool to read the old replies. The specs have doubled, quadrupled even tredecupled (and sometimes much more) over the years.. From To FX 6110 - so that's 6x as many cores (each propably a great deal better than the single core from 06 heh) 16gb DDR3 ram - 16x more ram and DDR3 instead of 1 AMD r9 280x 3gb DDR5 RAM - So that's 125x more ram for graphics memory (wow) No DVDs or CDs anymore as everything is done over the internet and with USB for me these days. Going from a 10/4 mbit connection to a 100/100 as well. Same mouse/keyboard and soundsystem actually - still works great! :D and now a BenQ 24" screen - to play in delicious 1080p

And modern Blitzkrieg makes me hope that the game might go beyond 1945. I always wanted a good Cold War era paradox game - or at least have the option of playing an actual WW3 in HOI.

Bought 5l of wine made Pita and invited friends over to play Risk - I usually win, but this time I got ****y and tried to hold Europe and take Asia.. That, as always, did not end well.

Snowpiercer, a sci-fi movie about a mini society surviving on a moving train on a frozen Earth. It's fairly run of the mill sci-fi, with some good effects - some interesting plots etc etc. I'd give 6/10 overall score. It's above average, but not exceptionally so. A good movie to watch if you want a sci-fi action fix and want to think a little, but not too much. Comparable to Pandorum (without the horror of course). Trailer: (yeah, it's a classic marxist "the evils of classism", but forgive that and enjoy it for what it is)

^ My god that's glorious! But given the lukewarm reception of Planetary Annihiliation, I remain a bit skeptical.

Yeah true, that's a fair point - and Mao, and Kim Jung Whatever as well.

Yeah they are for the cure, you need 10 pieces. You can sell the rest.

Well Bethesda at least know how to make fun games, even if you do facepalm a little too often at the characters and the "Epic" story. I forgive them completely though, because allowing their games to be this moddable means that their games just become better and better over time. Also I can murder most of the annoying characters, which is a big plus.

That was always the point, I don't see anyone here arguing for quotas etc?

So Volo, being sexually unattractive is a personal adult choice then I guess, seeing as those people have no hope of employment here due to the fact that they won't even get the interview. Tough luck right? They can always apply to another job, sure.. But then, why can't someone who wants to date their boss/teacher not just do the same? Eh sure I guess.. I don't really see your point in regards to this discussion?

This is the distinction I've always worked with. Ideologically Fascism often also refers to a Golden Past, whereas Communism often talks about the Golden Future. So there are conservative vs reformative differences as well. Edit: Propaganda wise we see big differences too, that allude to the underlying psychology of the regimes. Fascism and Nazism took their clues from the Roman Empire, both in symbolism but also in elevating the "First among Men" and the strong leader cult. Whereas communist regimes took a new approach and appealed much more the the "low" and the rise of "the collective" through the elevation of "the common man". Much in the same way Christianity and Judaism did, which I suspect is also why they were so keen to get rid of that competition.

I liked it personally - it made complete sense to me that he became so dangerous and deluded. He basically lost everything 2 times over.
