Pretty much it seems, but the varity of class types looks good.. Nothing wrong with a worthy spinoff if done with care.

Funny night, pirate birthday at a local bar and at one point I'm sitting with Purple Hair and 3 of her friends (all in their early twenties) when the very definition of a cougar arrives - good looking 45 year old (judge even raarw), out looking for young meat. Her friend arrives and after talking, flirting and drinking, Purple Hair and them decide to hit me right in my weak spot.. Stupid challenges that I can't help but accept.. I'm hustled into switching outfits with the cougar. In my defense they did offer me copious amounts of alcohol as well. But - guess I can cross that off my list now.. on the bright side I think I looked pretty dazzling in a dress. One the not so bright side there's plenty of photos proving that I didn't.

I was there in july and the weather was gorgous - talking to the local guide he said they had (at best) 65 days of sun a year!! Coupled with the fact that everyone looked so depressed that even I started feeling down... yeah, not gonna live in Russia.. ever.. The fruity Summer Palace was a plus though,

Everything in moderation, we love snow here - but then we only have to deal with it for 2 months at most.. Living in a near constant blizzard (as northern Scandinavia can be when it's worst), is not that fun. Also Labadal immigrated here as far as I remember? - not growing up with the darkness and the cold probably makes it a bit worse too.

Play Unreal Tournemant or Quake 3 for a day or two and you'll be right back on track. I swear, those game make you develop a sort of pre-cognition

Enticing yet vague?

Man, trying to use Linkedin and it's very business minded isn't it? It's interesting and all, but I've done way too many unquantifiable things, my CV looks like a swiss cheese had a date with a drill.

"He who cannot draw on Three Thousand Years is living hand to mouth" - Goethe. If you fail to see the parallels, that says more about you.

Theft has neer been this fun.

It's not graphics, it's aesthetics, which is why I made the distinction. I love playing SMAC, pharaoh etc precisely because they are aesthetically very well made - a lot of old games (especially early 3d ones) aren't however and for them I would probably buy the remake.
-
Why else would one watch it in the first place?
-
On one hand I'd love faithful remakes of old games in new engines, because honestly a lot of old games are aesthetically very difficult to play today.. on the other hand I find it deeply lazy of developers to do. Hmm..

The Zero Theorem Some thematic spoilers ahead: In many ways a companion to Brazil I think. It's interesting that Gilliam still works with the themes of Modernism and his nods to Kafka and Orwell is still very prevalent. But rather than flirt with absurdity of order/control he now flirts with nihilism/solipsism - "we" are inherently persecuted by our own dissociation rather than some outside power, that power however preys on the fear and chaos of individuality. Ultimately however the movie doesn't know how to end and tries to go for a "strange" happy ending instead of one that at least tries to enlighten the central issues. In many ways like Brazil, but that movie could at least end in absurdity and still be true to it's theme. Here we end with a sort of solipsistic "reality is what you make of it", which unfortunately hurts the overall message imo. Under the Skin Some thematic spoilers ahead: A very beautiful film, but not a very interesting one. It's pretty clear that Glazer had no idea what to do with the elements he was working with and in the end he seems to decide that the visual (almost visceral) feel of the movie should be the pillar that carries it through. But he introduces so many unresolved elements to his story, that they end up diluting the silent horror and alien feel. In some ways Glazer tries to do the opposite of "The Man Wo Fell to Earth" - where the 70s film examined the horror of a shallow external existence, "Under the Skin" examines the horror of shallow internal one. Showing that the main character is often a lot more hollow on closer inspection, to allow multiple viewers to sympathize and relate. The movie thus tries to be a sort of existentialist mirror. I feel however that an even more simplistic approach would have helped the movie, which would have compounded the dichotomy of the main character. Portraying her "humanity" and "alienaity" and helping convey the theme of "the human condition" in a more effective way.

Old thread here. Wrote some emails, read about 80 or so pages on stateism, saw a movie - not much really.

It would be interesting if they had gone the way of crowd sourcing as well, having several thousand people participate in making the game as well. A true 'by gamers for gamers'. Then they could achieve this level of ambition (if they could handle the work flow). I hope to see something like that within my life time. As it stands I to remain very sceptical about their chance of success. Or at least their chance of reaching the level of excellence they seem to be striving for (and selling the game on). I'm sure it'll be a great game on a lot of merits, but too many subpar aspects could destroy the overall experience.

This was mostly very sweet girls with a little too much alcohol in their systems, being a little too easily impressed. It was just a little nice having it happen 4 times in a row during the evening. Good for the ego. The subject was "men and how bad they are at flirting" heh
