  1. I almost always play on easy at first - even new games in a series I've played for years on end. Its just nicer to not hit a wall of frustration and you can usually adjust difficulty going in. Distant Worlds have a pretty cool feature, where the difficulty scales as the game develops. So you can start in easy and end on hard, works pretty well.
  2. Again the vast majority is enjoying their game, myself included - sucks that its not like that for you, but no need to exaggerate to get your point across. And fair enough that they'll loose you as a customer, this is how the market works. I also wait at least a year and wait for proof of a good port, until I even consider buying Rockstar games. So I sympathize.
  3. I had a similar issue, then I switched with another character and it worked again. It's been reported to bugs so I'm sure they are working on it.
  4. I've lived in rural areas for 14 years and met several hunters and locals who knew very little about nature around them. So it was not so much aimed at you, as much as people in general.
  5. Do people not do their research. They said the expansion was going to be like Baldur's Gate TotSC since for over a year now. Having worked in retail.. no they don't and they'll get angry with you if things aren't 100% how they imagined it would be - its completely your fault for not, somehow magically, informing them of everything before hand and even more so if they should (god forbid) have an issue with the tiniest part of your product. I wonder if they hold themselves to the same standard in their own line of work.
  6. Probably a fox, they sometimes "scream" after dusk. If you're not familiar with it, it can sound pretty crazy. Especially if they're also running around (ie the rustling in bushes).
  7. There are plenty of historical settings that would fit better than 1912 imo, but I really wish they would bring back mod support. So we can get a new Third Age in the new engine. CA have lost the ability to make a balanced, good or even playable single player experience it seems with their complete lack of good AI. Or at least I haven't been able to enjoy it since Medieval 2. So I have little hope for this title either.. But mods usually fix it to the point of playability, so perhaps in a 3 years when its on sale.
  8. Yes, they don't get any extra conversation from skills like lore, survival etc - only the mechanic effects like better consumable duration and so on. As it says in the skill descriptions.
  9. Lore? no, that gives them the ability to cast higher lvl scrolls.
  10. Main character talks, while NPCs may butt in to the conversation and speak their minds. But any option you choose is your character.
  11. I doubt it, Obsidian's reputation for buggy games has yet to abate. Now if it was a game made by Bioware or Bethesda... Bethesda makes the world most bugged out popular games. Of course often hilariously buggy, but still.. come on! That said, sure Obz has definitely made buggy games. I would however always choose a buggy yet enjoyable experience over some of the games that come out of Bioware now that EA has sucked their souls dry.
  12. And they said from the very start that the expansion would be like Tales of The Sword Coast, so it was always assumed by most of us that it would be a mid-campaign expansion. The first year or so was both a huge ****storm and fan frenzy, from old school DnD'ers who hated the realtime to the many many many bugs and unbalanced feats and classes - and people just loving it despite the flaws.. But seeing as internet access wasn't quite as prevalent and going to forums weren't quite as common, the bad press basically came from the press. Who generally loved Bioware for the attempt and revival of the RPG genre. And back then you had to wait for a patch to come with your favorite magazine on a disc too. I have no doubt that in a year or so, with bugs ironed out and the expansions - people are gonna forget most of the flaws of PoE (like every other game you replay years after release). And praise it as a universally great game that was always flawless and well crafted, with love for the genre, unlike greedy modern games full of bugs and unbalanced mechanics!
  13. You can't respec the companions you meet ingame, only the player character and those you create in inns. But you can complete the game, on any difficulty, with the story companions you meet in the game. The companions you meet in the expansions work in the main game too and vice versa.
  14. They cost like 60 in shops? Are you guys so strapped for cash? 6, I think. Or maybe 4? It's 6. It's 4 on Hard.6 on easy, 4 on normal and 2 on hard and potd. http://pillarsofeternity.gamepedia.com/Camping_Supplies
  15. True, might affecting bullet damage on its own does not really work within the lore and logic of the game, but I still dont see the problem with it affecting magic (original argument).. But a flat dam on crossbows and guns would be unbalanced as well. So what would be a better solution?
  16. It will be midgame, as they have always said since the beginning. They've stated since its announcement that it would be a Tales of the Sword Coast'esque expansion.
  17. Sucks that you have this many issues. Do you also generally experience bugs? I feel like you do about Rockstar games, they are always broken for me and often for years on end with patches just breaking the games even further. I guess some of us are just especially unlucky with certain developers. But I would never say Rockstar games are broken as a rule, even though I know many players experience issues like me (their bug forums were like a battlezone, glad Im not a mod there)
  18. In what way? They made it themselves, what was originally not broken?
  19. Then with might you can handle a higher caliber round and higher mussel velocity. I'm sure we could find equally many points of comparison as we could find analogies where it doesn't fit - But why are we even doing the comparison in the first place? it's not really relevant.. as magic is about manipulating soul energy and not pre prepared ballistic kinetic packages shot from a pre manufactured piece of equipment. If you shot the bullet with your will and asserted the kinetic force with your soul energy, then might might (hehe) very well have an impact.
  20. I read december somewhere, but can't find it or any credible source. But I'd still be willing to wager its around that time, or early 2016.
  21. You never held a rifle I assume? Strength is very important to stabilize the weapon (which is somewhat important in aiming after all), if you're not strong enough you will have trouble holding it still and get uncontrollable recoil. Especially Renaissance era weaponry, made from heavy and cumbersome materiel.
  22. I find it extremely humors when Christians quote the old testament as law, since they are basically saying that the new testament (and therefore in effect Jesus sacrificing himself to seal the deal) is meaningless. And jesus never said anything about homosexuals.. but I'm pretty sure he would've washed their feet and married them on the spot - if they were good and righteous people. In fact I'm sure he would have much more disdain for the rich than any homosexual. This is the only appropriate response she can take - if she holds any moral reservations to the duties she is lawfully required to perfom, she should resign in protest.
  23. I finished back in june and just now ready for a new playthrough again and will probably be around December again. So for me the releases of the expansions are pretty perfect. Coinciding with me starting new games. But, yeah no hurry - buy when you want.
  24. Not inside the muslces? why are you guys assuming that.. it requires will, intellect and physical strength to properly wield magic - not inside your muscles, the energies a wizard forms becomes tangible forces, asserting kinetic "kickback" on the wizard so the speak, who has to withstand them - so being stronger helps the wizard stabilize the energy. But a Might 8 wizard still works, its just that a might 18 can more easily hold the energies in place, while his knowledge and skills forms the energy. Cheesy however, well I don't know. Not more cheesy than pulling energy out the weave with your mind I think? As in, it's all quite cheesy when you think about it. edit: Following that logic, it would of course make more sense if a physically weak but intellectual wizards magic was considerably more uncontrollable - like a wild mage - while a strong, but not that academic wizard, could applicate his magic much more focused. Perhaps that was their idea with intellect affecting radius? In any case, I definitely agree that the mechanics could use some polish (and explanation) - but I'm a fan of them trying something new.
  25. I think the lore idea was that it required real strength, as in muscles, to pull the magical energies into existence. To hold them in their wild state, while your will shaped them into spells.
