  1. Hah, yeah you were the first to like it on Facebook.. You stalker!
  2. I though for a slim second that this was somehow real...
  3. Replaying Rome 2 again with the Divide et Imperi mod .. and I'm amazed how Creative Assembly apparently really loves cloud cover on the campaign map! Guess I need to find a mod to remove that too. (luckily there was and it works perfectly)
  4. Nah, I always trust in the wise words of Marcus Aurelius when it comes to matters of faith.. "Live a good life. If there are gods and they are just, then they will not care how devout you have been, but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by. If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them. If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but...will have lived a noble life that will live on in the memories of your loved ones. " But yeah it's awesome, she's a keeper.. and well worth at least half an eternity in hell for a little slice of heaven on Earth. /cheese.
  5. Yep and probably moving in together in the beginning of next year if all goes well.
  6. I can recommend joining the Obsidian group on Steam as well. Also today I don't have any plans or any work, so.. games I guess.
  7. Playing games and drinking beer I'd wager. He's on Steam a lot if you wanna talk to him. But I think his Obsidian days are over, at least as an active poster.. Didn't really pry into why.
  8. Gamebryos biggest issue (aesthetically at least) was definitely faces. Something Bethesda really nailed in Fallout 4 luckily... And with the proper mods New Vegas can look really awesome too.. Especially the Fallout Character Overhaul mod, to add to what Lexx showed; If you can get it to work with New Vegas Redesigned 3 + slap on the texture mods and a light enb - then it looks almost modern.
  9. I've had micro stuttering for years, in different games over different setups with vastly different hardware components.. I'd love to know what causes it, it's super annoying. If it's not physics, I've found disabling ambient occlusion helps a great deal with AMD cards.
  10. I've got that stupid theme song from Phantom of The Opera on repeat in my head.. argh!
  11. Companions are great, much better than New Vegas. On the surface yeah - they are initially a lot more interesting.. but after about 5 minutes you realize there's not really gonna be anything new to them and they add very little to the gameplay, they are like static NPCs that just follow you around.. Much like Skyrim. Fallout 4 companions with NV companion quests would've been awesome.
  12. All right, people seem to be a bit confused about 'derailment' and what that means it seems, so I'm gonna clarify. Any further discussions that veer from Fallout 4 will be deleted and the poster will be given a warning, this is the last public one. Repeated violations will result in moderated review. Examples: Discussing HOW you discuss is not talking about Fallout 4 Discussing other people and what you think of them, is not talking about Fallout 4. You are free to PM each other for the above examples or any questions to me.
  13. While it's a fascinating story, let's stick to discussing Fallout 4 in this thread. You can resume the inquiry in PMs, further derailments will be deleted.
  14. Grab her wrist, notice how much you have to close your hand... Measure your hand. Crude, not very accurate - but stealthy
  15. Yep that was really silly.. At least have a minor russian, Irish settlement etc, ain't that hard to explain. In fact, explain much much more.. What is the commonwealth? What is the Brotherhood? What are the Minute Men? I had to look it up online, none of the characters in game would explain the setting/lore.. Now most of those I could figure out or guess, but maybe my 2 INT character can't. Mild spoiler: And in that vain Paladin Danse kinda pissed me off.. "what we are should be self evident"... erh no. You're a new group here, remember?
  16. Although I do feel they were being unfair, they criticized it for not properly dealing with issues still present in the engine now 2 years later - rather than just arbitrarily. Of course they were still there in Skyrim and looks like in F4 as well. About the game - I'm glad to see they've taken a lot of fan criticism to heart, while Diamond City still looks like Megaton at least there's irrigation, farming and actual - you know - things keeping the people living there alive. Game mechanic wise however, their games a becoming a little too arcadey for me to really loose myself into. Their games (from Rage to Dishonored) are starting to play and look similar.. and be more about 'cool' features and set pieces than actual substance. Still good though, they are masters of fun. I just enjoyed NV and it's story a lot more.
  17. Wait, do people think oil comes from dinosaurs?
  18. It seems fairly clear that Bethesda has made it canon that Prewar currency was massively inflated. Scraps of newspapers found in F3, showing a cost of +50$ etc.
  19. It's so for a variety of reasons, first off because that was what the majority of backers wanted. And second, because Obz were simply not small (or big) enough to be too brave, PoE was basically their sink or swim project. So they had to be a little cautious. You can tell they wanted to do something else though - especially Chris Avellone I think; Durance is in essence a big middle finger to fantasy tropes, divine ones in particular. They tried shaking it up before with Alpha Protocol, though. If you're looking for innovations in RPG settings.
  20. Yeah it's pretty much the definition of 'grimdark fantasy'... One defintion by Adam Roberts states it as: "the standard way of referring to fantasies that turn their backs on the more uplifting, Pre-Raphaelite visions of idealized medievaliana, and instead stress how nasty, brutish, short and, er, dark life back then 'really' was" And by that definition, PoE certainly has grimdark elements. And GoT certainly is
  21. Tabletop Simulator - this little basic Steam physics game let's you play any card or board game, that you mod in, in a virtual environment. Which is awesome for me and my friends, as we're spread out over the country but still wanna play boardgames, MtG etc with each other.. Seriously, if you're in a similar situation look it up! Here's an example of a group (a little annoying) playing Card Against Humanity.
  22. Well they've shown that they will always err on the side of 'fun'. Judging from the reviews this seems to be the case again - people complaining that the story, setting and game flow is incoherent to say the least - but damn fun to play.
  23. In resonse to Michael Galt: As I see it, it's fundementally a question of player agency - Janet Murray (a PhD in English Lit and currently teaches in Interaction Design) defines PA as “the satisfying power to take meaningful action and see the results of our decisions and choices.” The Mass Effect 3 ending is a pretty perfect text book example of what happens, when you subvert player agency. While the series as taken as a whole if very responsive to your input and give you 'uplifting' results to decisive choices. PoE however, tries much like Torment succeeded in, to illustrate that your personal observations are conditional (and conditioned) and the consequences of choices may therefore unfold drastically different from your expectations, simply because you were basing your decisions on subjective truths, not always your own. Now of course, this may appear to hurt player agency, as this thread is a fine illustration of. But I would argue that is instead enriches it, if you actually give it a chance. As many have pointed out, often the outcome is actually heartwarming/uplifting, but only when the whole comes together and not just because of you. It tries therefore, in a sense, to give the setting (NPCs etc) agency as well, rather than just the player. Something I was sorely missing from the genre in general.
  24. Aesthetically pleasing, appropriate color scheme, good lighting and contrast = happy me.. I don't need Crysis level graphic fidelity or 4K textures. So so far I'm pleased with F4 from the graphics department.
