Makes me wish New Vegas had been done in a different engine - that city deserved to be a crazy infestion of greed and debauched wakyness.

Must suck with makeup heavy roles, seems like a waste to go through then..

As for the forgetable villain in Dr Strange. Mikkelsen did a rather indepth interview here (in Danish) on how a good portion of his scenes didn't make it to the final cut. Especially the scenes where his character had time to develop. He added though that he thought it was a fair comprimise as the movie didn't really need a strong villain.

Still ENFP - The Campaigner https://www.16personalities.com/enfp-personality And still spot on seems you changed Hurlie? You were an ENFP last time.

-This Message Is Sponsored- Well I personally think that the new series are a lot better, sure some features were dropped and on average they're fairly content light, but it's safe to say that they are much more popular and the more streamlined content can really be seen as way to add to the forumites' in-thread agency.

I wish bad games were on average as bad as Skyrim.. Better?
-
Funny I thought the exact same thing, plot development and shooting style was really reminicient of short films.. So I looked up the directors- yep only made shorts so far.

Depends very much on what you decide later on..

It gets better yeah, like all ST shows it starts cheesy and weak- I think Voyager was the first where I felt it started fairly strong- but that just got progressively worse. Enterprise gets better yeah, although it never really reaches any level of 'great'. It's the most forgettable contribution to the setting, on par with the new movies.

Yeah I decided to put Stellaris on hold for that reason as well, they need to fix the AI and do a lot of balance issues. It's a great game, but an endgame crisis can completely ruin it for you now, simply because the other Empires are too incompetent to deal with it. This is my single biggest issue with Paradox games It's great that they are always tweaking and working on their games, but damn it makes it impossible to play around a release (which is always). I've been putting off playing Crusader Kings 2 for almost 2 years now, simply because they keep adding stuff and re-balancing it, meaning I usually just wait until there's a more stable build out.. and then they release something else that I really want...

RimWorld (a lot) and the new Biker upgrade in GTAV - what a great addition, I've been playing it with friends and it's a very cool little expansion. You get your own clubhouse, can ride in formation and do drug deals / gang wars etc. Great fun.

There's been many games and many great moments, but yeah that scene really stuck with me as a young adult - your only home, burning beneath you. Or the Kreia reveal in KOTOR2, man her whole story arch turned my perception of Star Wars and The Force on it's head. Great writing...

Wasn't he more of an Ayn Rand / Nietzschean 'ubermench'? Culling the weak and all that. Mastering your own destiny... Stalin was more of an autocratic oligarch (Russian style), where the masses exist to make sure the few are elevated and the nation/ideal is perserved and prospers. Hmm, birds of a feather I guess.

Would love to visit both on occasion, I think I would go full Brocolli in Trek-World and get addicted to the Holo-deck- Star Wars however is a fantasy setting, so plenty of opportunity for wild adventures and daring escapes. As long as you're a wideeyed kid or a scruffy nerdherder. Shouldn't it be 12 years (this is 2016, join date is 2004)? Anyhow... I started on usenet rec.arts.games.* heirarchy around 1993. Was a lurker on Interplay's threaded forums around 1999. Joined Black Isle in around early to mid-2000. Joined Obsidian in Feb 2004. Hah you're right, I'm teaching 5th grade kids these days (12 years), I've been discussing on these boards since they were born. Maybe I should start branching out - then again, you've been going for 23 years, so obviously it's an expansive subject.

Games you want that'll likely never exist
Rosbjerg replied to Barothmuk's topic in Computer and Console
True, but It's on GOG and can be forced to play in 1080p, looks good enough -
Just realized I joined this board 11 years (+2 days) ago. If we also count the old Black Isles boards, how long have you guys been discussing games?

Rosbjerg replied to Barothmuk's topic in Computer and Console
Not really, it borrows some elements from CIV, SMAC and Heros of Might and Magic, but is closer to the latter. -
Huh really?

Nah, you just knock the wine over and wait for them to go intro the basement. Then you do the ol' dart n choke.

What Advice Would You Give Your Younger Self?
Rosbjerg replied to Guard Dog's topic in Way Off-Topic
I don't think I could make myself understand what I would need to understand, as experience is really what has made the difference. But I would probably ask myself to strive towards forgiveness - I was like most other teenagers very angry/emotional back then, but never allowed that anger to be expressed. As I didn't (and couldn't) understand what made me feel like I did.. but then those emotions also pushed me to achieve the understanding in the end. So how can one achieve one without the other? Perhaps I would simply talk to myself instead, would be interesting to hear what I had to say about where I am now - and vice versa. I would totally give myself some pickup advice though hah -
You can dislike the design descision, that's perfectly fine, but calling it random is a disservice. There's a reason why there was no UI at all when you were Desmond 'out in the real world' - to differentiate between the game and the metagame. This was imho a thematically great way to convey the games setting and anything but random. It was done precisely to remind you that you were playing a game, as Desmond, and that in order to save his life you needed to constrain yourself to the rules the Animus had set up, even though they were artificial.. and thus the artificial overlay was an important part of the game setting and theme. What's the reason for this very similar UI in Mafia3? Of course you need a UI to translate game information into something that makes sense for the player. But I would love if more games took a hint from Assassins Creed, Fallout or L.A Noire, where the UI is incorporated into the setting and takes visual clues from the tone of the game. Either make sure I don't see it unless I need to - or make sure it fits with the setting you're establishing.

Except that was exactly an augmented reality, established by game lore.. and so fitted the setting perfectly. It wouldn't even be Assassins Creed without it. But also the reason why it didn't fit as well in the later games, as they downplayed the Animus interface. Which is also why thematically I think the first game is the best of the series. The game within in a game was really cool and the DNA styled UI was perfect.

As for Mafia, I wish they would realize that a great UI is one that fits into the setting and tone of the game - less is more - it's way too agressive with all these pop-ups and prompts in this contemporary sleek and mobile app looking way. It really doesn't fit the mood the game is trying to set, especially with a game set in the 60s or 70s .. This was one of the reason I couldn't bring myself to play the newer Hitman games, the massive intrusive UI with achievement pop-ups and points, prompts and this borderline 'augmented reality' looking approach, that would've have fitted a sci fi game much better.. it just took me out of the game setting. Same here.

Did a Clean Hands and Ghost playthrough - actually more fun than I thought it would be, but timing is everything. That said - high chaos is very fun...

Somewhat- the character was certainly locked into being Human and a Spectre, but from there you had freedom to be any class, either gender - and as for personality either diplomatic, ruthless or in between. With your choices in previous game affecting who you meet and how they respond to you. While with Geralt you're locked to a story background, a baseline personality (with some wiggleroom) and baseline abilities.. With the only offset being that he is fortunately well written..
