  1. Bird or Cuaron would be fantastic, I'd certainly sign on either of those lines.
  2. I've noticed they shovel a lot of ****, they're like the opposite of one of those post-modern liberal arts colleges.
  3. Yep, that is definitely the tone of Larian games. If you don't like silliness and tongue in cheek humor, it is not a good fit for you. Honestly, if you don't chuckle when you hear the name DIVINE DIVINITY, you really aren't in the target audience. I like humor, but I'm not Larian's type of humor. I love stuff like Ratchet & Clank, Jak & Daxter, Portal 2, The Stanely Parable, Destroy All Humans, Monkey Island. Can't pinpoint the exact quality that sets them apart, but I don't really find silliness or snarkiness to be inherently funny. It needs to demonstrate what it's perspective in order to justify irreverence. Depends on the depiction, but I was always more of an elf fan when I was younger. I find I agree more with humans and dwarves though as I get older. Aloth is an exception, he's woke.
  4. Exactly this. In fact, personally I felt that the questionable acts by animancy were only included so as to make what is obviously the best and most sensible choice be tinged with a bit of grey. I thought it was a pretty clear-cut choice when the alternative was to stunt progress and vindicate the people's superstitions. I'm right there with you two.
  5. If they hadn't picked JJ I'd probably suggest James Gray as a candidate. He's already booked for filming a sci-fi in 2018 though.
  6. > Pathfinder is more or less done [Amused laugh] The tabletop edition of that game has rules debates that stretch back to like 2013. If the app is a faithful recreation of the physical version, it is entirely possible that it will never actually end up "finished." That game could easily provide a lifetime of steady employment! Yeah but updating it isn't writing a game from scratch, which is what I'm referring to. They can run that project with far fewer people going forward. So more people onto other things.
  7. Nevah, can't stand his approach or style. As far as I know the reason he was given JP and then EP9 was because of his personal friendship with Kathleen Kennedy. He was being groomed into the next blockbuster director. I just don't see him as the right for helming a loved classic.
  8. Well this is a busy week for me, so better to not be thinking about the big 4 0. Also I agree with Josh on the value of the polytendril approach to game development, Pillars has a strong cohesion about it that I love. The series certainly benefited by being grounded in that. It makes sense for an expanded vision to delegate more because of the increased scope but also the team is more up to speed on what Pillars is.
  9. I pretend elves slow in aging once they come of age, because otherwise things are creepy.
  10. Teens don't have the purse for crowd-funding. You underestimate whale lust.
  11. Given the sort of post-colonial setting of Pillars, I really appreciated getting away from British accents. Maybe they could hire some Kiwis instead. Plus I really liked the Goidelic accents, which I felt were far better fitting. So maybe we could get some Cornish thrown in too. Portuguese is also underused and they really dominated to early age of sail. The brits fit better for Aedyrian characters, but we don't necessarily need a ton of those.
  12. Deadfire will be somewhat niche, but for it's audiences I don't think it will be overlooked. If we are being honest games like Dark Souls they only sell between 1.7 - 2.7 million copies. Which is pretty good for it, but still nowhere near the titans. Pillars being quite close to the original Dark Souls bodes well. Especially with a console entry now.
  13. Heh, I posted that in the last thread too.
  14. My first thought when I saw that stretchgoal was "what?" A large portion of the community would prefer the same amount of VO and second or third pass editing rather than dialogue locked in by an expensive VO budget. I know I would. But then again, their stretchgoals felt like stuff they were already planning to implement until halfway through the campaign people really started complaining about boring stretchgoals. Well all that meant was double the budget, with no specific details as of then figured out.
  15. Thats kind of a shallow look at companions. Aren't good? Aren't interesting? If you want your companions to feel like play actors in a mid summer nights dream doing a casting reel then sure, I guess by those standards Obsidian is technically less fun? Not every hero or hero's companion needs to be some sort of superior champion archetype keen on telling you why they are so fantastic.
  16. Op isn't using the word correctly the first time. Should have said stochastic instead.
  17. I really just wanted a Pale Elf and an 8th companion. But I was hoping for a beardy elf or dwarf. Making Ydwin the definitive sidekick vying for 8th place I think artificial helped her numbers.
  18. They could always pull a "hiring and investment announcement." Those seem pretty popular with companies.
  19. It's not an issue of models. Every frame you have to do mesh translations anyways, so it's literally one dot product to solve. It's how they define male and female models too. Ubisofts excuse of not having not done a female lead (at the time) makes more sense, because that has to do with them having to redo all the animation capture. Otherwise you get the awkward ME3 femshep hips that move too aggressively. They had not yet created female animations for anything other than npcs. I figure it just made sense to Bethesda at the time to add sexual dimorphism to Argonians. I believe a long time ago it was suggested that Argonians away from their homeland hist trees started to become ovoviviparous and had to nurse in place of the hist sap.
  20. Fyi, Paradox Arctic handled this port. You might also want to hit up the Paradox forums or look into their bug reporting channel.
  21. I figured it was more or less implicitly confirmed, but I also thought it wasn't the Cainarsky project and wasn't necessarily Obsidian helming it. If Obsidian is doing Vampire, doesn't that mean they have 5 games in the works? Seems like a lot. I guess Tyranny and Pillars' tech teams overlap. Tyranny DLC is probably almost done. Pathfinder is more or less done, and is just getting content support. So maybe they can handle Deadfire, Cainarsky, and Vampire... I'm speculating too much, I'll wait for it to come out in the wash.
  22. I have a feeling that whatever is coming is marking solid relationship going forward. Perhaps with Paradox. Meaning Paradox wants the reputation of Obsidian to flourish and floweth over.
  23. Furthermore, do those numbers include code activations? (i.e. the Kickstarters)
  24. Hamburger and corn on the cob also I don't take pictures of food... sorry.
