I recommend the Enhanced Editions. Some purists will decry them because they don't like some of the minor additions made (like a couple new companions), but I played the originals, and the Enhanced Editions are wonderful upgrades, particularly graphically. Truth. I bought and played the originals back when I had to keep track of all five disks; the EE are superior, IMHO.

You must be setting fires in dry forests. I'd imagine I'd have to work pretty hard to get an account banned in a day. I honestly have no idea what the hell keeps happening with my Twitter and Reddit. I consistently manage to make one or two innocuous posts and then, BAM! "Your account has been permanently banned for being compromised." I've long since given up.

I realise Fighters weren't the highest DPS, nor did I say they were. What I said was that, unlike tanks in MMOs they weren't designed to be passive roadblocks, but were also capable of doing some damage. You mean like tanks in 3rd Edition? Or a big burly troll with high body in Shadowrun? Or basically every tank ever? You're confusing the aggro mechanic popular with MMO's with the tank archetype. At low levels, fighters--that is, tanks--have pretty much *always* outpaced other classes on damage. It's not until mid-levels that fighters start to lose capability; that switch is what PoE was avoiding, and that quadratic-wizards-linear-fighters problem was very definitely present in D&D 2nd Edition.

It really didn't though. Fighters might have been intended to be able to soak more damage than other classes, but they were also designed to be capable of putting out damage. Ha! No. No, you clearly didn't play 2nd Edition D&D--or at least you don't remember it. Highest DPS in 2nd Edition was mages and/or thieves. Or thief/mages if you're a powergamer. Or a psionicist if you're a munchikin.

What you think of as "subtle" I think of as "boring and flat". I want it to interject into conversations, to comment on my surroundings, to observe the world as it happens. I'm always disappointed that my sentient talking weapon is about as reactive as a television screen--it only reacts to me or my actions, never the other way around.

It is easy to love Ydwin when other female companions are masculine ones. This ****. This **** right here. This **** is why I develop such hatred for fans.

as already stated, josh has frequent advocated aspects of d&d editions post 2.0. and again, there were common (unfair) criticisms o' josh attempting to turn poe into d&d 4.0. as such, your perceived marginalization by josh does not align with our observations or the consensus feedback o' much o' the poe beta folks. HA! Good Fun! I've often seen Josh talk about his time playing D&D and the fun he's had with D&D; rarely if ever have I seen him point out features and aspects of D&D that he likes and wishes to emulate or even keep in a game. Regardless, this is all way more defensive aspects from a bunch of forum posters over a game developer that none of us know that I ever expected a non-judgemental basic obersvational statement to obtain. Again, I'm not attacking Josh, this was never meant to be an attack on Josh, this was simply an obersavation of my own that is admittedly based on fragmentary information from incomplete sources (re: interviews, etc). This conversation is over. I have no intention of arguing with any of you about the finer points of Josh Sawyers personality. **** that.

"a willingness to point out shortcomings in game systems is perceived as josh elitism." Oh, no. I'll point out the flaws of D&D and other class-based systems all day long. It's a desire to minimize the influences of pretty much every well-known mainstream game and system combined with a general tendency to dismiss the concepts, ideas, and tropes of those systems.
