Oh, wow. Wow. Jesus ****ing...wow. I have to go now. I have to go before I get banned. Wow. Just...****ing wow. Jesus christ, you are a ****ing piece of work. Wow. ****ing......wow. Hounding your for days? Trying to bait you into an argument? Before yesterday I had a grand total of four interactions with you. I don't even ****ing know you, dude. I don't know you or ****ing care about you at all. I flipped my **** because of your insistence on inserting your vile ****ing politics into every post you make when all I want to do is talk about video games. That's it. I could give a **** about you as a person and I sure as **** don't care enough to "hound" you or "bait" you. You're *not* that important to me. Honestly, nobody on this forum is more than a name to me. I don't know any of you or care to. Seriously, dude. This is nuts. I mean, I'm schizophrenic. What's *your* excuse?

The easy way and the right way are very seldom the same thing. If a moderator isn't willing to put in the effort of getting to the bottom of these sorts of situations, then he isn't really willing to put in the effort to do his work. The vast majority of people here can keep the conversation civil, and silencing honest conversation in order to placate the poisonous element is a grave injustice, and it is definitely not something you want to do if your aim is to have a healthy and respectful community. The people who can have a civilized conversation shouldn't have to suffer because of the people who can't. The good news is that if Mr Katarack has truly ignored me, then the problem here should solve itself shortly, and if he keeps me on his ignore list, then this scenario in all likelihood won't repeat itself anytime soon. There's a button that says "This post has been hidden. Would you like to view it anyway?" You know what else would fix this problem? If you could keep your ****ing politics out of the ****ing video game forum, and stop spewing your "equality is evil and women can't fight men" bile every time somebody wants to talk about stat mechanics. But you can't, because people like you can't ever, ever seem to accept that some places are appropriate for some conversations and not for others.

I actually did earlier--NinjaMisogynist is the very first person on the Obsidian boards I've ever ignored, so congrats on the accomplishment--but my point still stands. He can't hold a coversation without going off about SJW's and how gender equality is evil. He's going to start spewing about how women are breed mares whose only purpose is to spew out children again, and more explicitly. It will *only* get more explicitly misogynistic and less-and-less related to video games the more we let it happen. We don't need this ****. This board had a *great* culture and a *great* atmosphere and environment. This place is awesome. One thing we absolutely do not need or want is his ilk regurgitating this venom all over the boards. This needs to be cut off at the root *now*. If NinjaWomanHater want's to talk about video games, that's all fine and dandy. But you should slap his ass with a warning every time he starts to spew his bile. Stop being a **** by ignoring the mods. It's this kind of crap that's going to close the thread. Hopefully Gifted1 does a thread cleanup instead of closing an interesting thread. I'm talking *DIRECTLY* to the mod and telling him *PERSONALLY* that I used the ignore function that he recommended, so it's *LITERALLY IMPOSSIBLE FOR ME TO BE IGNORING THE MOD*. What I'm doing is noting that his statement "Just ignore them" isn't appropriate. This isn't the only thread this bull**** has happened in, and I'm not the first person to point out that his political statements are inappropriate in this forum. I'm not even the only person to comment about it here, in this thread, after the mod made his statement. Literally all I'm doing is asking a mod to enforce the forum topic after multiple, repeated breakings of it over several days that have been protested by several posters.

Indeed, in the setting *that's the point of the gods*. There used to be lots of different gods, but the Engwithans *created* the current set--literally made them as soul constructs--and then went on a worldwide Inquisition to destroy all the other forms of worship, intentionally to wipe out all the other religions so as to unify the world and remove what they saw as the "chaos" of random god worship. The setting precludes other gods existing; the worship of other gods has already been removed.

I love all three of these, especially number 1; soulknife is my favorite class. Also, killing someone with a weapon formed of your intent to kill them is the best kind of... recursion? Is that recursion? What word can we use there? I support you getting a sofa in your office. We must support the artists. I like it, it's a small touch, but the small touches are important. It could even come up with a few dialogue choices down the line. "Now, I'm not a man of the cloth, but Magran would want us to... SHOOT THEM![initiate ambush battle]" That could actually windup being in the game, as we may get a ship stronghold this time around. I want to talk to my ship and not be crazy. Kind of like how I could talk to my fortress in PoE1 and not be crazy. That could be fun, but I feel like it would be difficult for it to be implemented; would you want to see it as an actual item that someone wields, as a character with a class level, etc.? This sounds like fun on paper, but then it's not fair if you decide to take a non-Deadfire origin; what would those people get? 1) The sentient weapon would be an item but also a character with class levels just like any companion. Think about it; the way souls and vessels work, the item in question would in fact be a person with all that persons knowledge, memories, etc. Difficult to implement, yes. In fact, it's a crazy idea we'll probably never get, but damn would it be awesome. :-D 2) They simply wouldn't get that questline, just as in BG there are questlines you don't get if you don't have the right class. I don't have a problem with some content being gated in this kind of set-up; in my mind, it encourages replays with different character builds to experience the other content. There are aspects of ME2 that don't exist if you don't have a save file from ME 1; same basic concept, just more interwoven into the experience.

Just to clarify You can argue point 1, though most of us will not concur. As for point 2, have you considered seeing a psychologist about your inability to separate gender politics from anything in life? Apparently up to including stat mechanics in video games. I promise politics had nothing to do with anything relating to the gameplay, mechanics, or character building aspects of Eternity. Your inability to see the connecting pattern is hardly my failing; it is there. I understand that you don't like the thoughts I have introduced in this thread, but I would still advice you to not show such blatant disrespect towards a fellow man. You're not doing your own views any favors by acting like that. It doesn't matter if there's some tangenital connection between the creation of Pillars and the politics of the creators. This isn't the forum for discussing the politics of the creators. This isn't the forum for discussing politics. Period. This isn't the place, this isn't the context, this isn't the appropriate time. Everything you are doing is wrong. This is a VIDEO GAME FORUM. This is where you talk about VIDEO GAMES. Not the *politics of the people who made the video games*. You get me? This is where you talk about Pillars 2, not about who the guy that coded Pillars 2 voted for. See the difference? Nobody here wants to hear you talk about how women are breeding mares whose only purpose is to produce young men to lead society. We want to talk about Pillars 2. If you want to talk about your ****ed-up misogynistic bull****, go where that's appropiate. This is not it. This is a video game forum. We come here to talk about Obsidian-produced video games. Not your politics. ****ing christ.

Maybe you should do your ****ing job and actually enforce the rules of the forum. This jackass has been running around in the General Pillars Forum talking about SJW's and how equality is evil for *days* in every ****ing post he can find. What happened to Obsidian's non-discrimination policy? What happened to non-video game discussions being confined to Way-Off Topic? All I want to do is talk about Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire. I *don't* want some Trump-loving woman-hating ******** to spew his ****ing bile all over this place, too. We have enough of that trash everywhere else. He wants to talk about video games? ****ing fine. He wants to talk about SJW's and how women are not equal to men? Go to ****ing Brietbart. Don't ****ing do it here.

Sorry, dude. First of all, this is a video game forum and nobody cares. You want to talk about politics, go to Way Off-Topic. Second of all, you act like...*any* of this is new. Kitiara was kicking ass all over Dragonlance back in 1984. It's not a question of breaking immersion of players by creating melee-capable females. It's a question of breaking *YOUR* immersion. That's *you*. *YOUR* hang-up. Probably a lot of people *you* know, too. But the idea that society is going to be destroyed because media shows women fighting...well...that's your bull****, man, and I don't want to ****ing hear it.
-
You have an almost clinical inability to separate your politics from your video game rants, though. Nobody else around here does that ****, you notice that? Also, gender neutrality in player characters combat ability goes back to 1st Edition AD&D, where gender influenced level progression in the sense of caps on ability scores, *and nothing else*. Even Gygax understood the need for that basis of equality; those caps were gone by 3rd Edition.

Hmmm? Tyranny DLC? That would be...****ing spectacular, I *really* enjoyed this game!

I wish like *hell* they'd bring back prebuffing. Seriously. But, here's the thing: I'd love the various types of stat, armor, and elemental buffs to come back. But ****** the spell-level buffs. Having six spells all saying "Prevent six spells of three different spell levels" and having to cast them all at the right times in the right orders and then the special ones that only block certain types or schools of spells and then spells that don't get blocked at all and special blocker spells at high-levels that *only* block the spells that can't be blocked any other way and blah blah blah blah blah.....it's enough to drive one mad, if one weren't already quite mad.

Not strictly true, unless you have a naked rogue. This doesn't happen in a vacuum, items, shields are relevant. Maybe special items, uniques shouldn't be taken into account. But when the devs designed the system they surely had the bigger picture in mind. The only real problem though, is some of the classes still need some minor tweaks. Rogues, for instance need their deflection and endurance/health upped a bit. Not because it doesn't matter.... but because it does especially at higher levels. They are a melee class after all. Yes, true. Items and equipment are pitch hitters. You can switch them out as-needed--for more accuracy, more deflection, more DR piercing, etc. Of course you can redo your build, too, but that's more involved and more of a total redo. Stats from your equipment and items are generally included in build guides because such is needed to achieve maximum efficiency, but their no more an aspect of the actual "class build" than food, potions, or spell buffs. That shield will only be providing that additional deflection as-needed, exactly like the potion or the rest bonus, not permanently like the talents skills and abilities. If you want to, that shield can be given to somebody else and you won't be getting that bonus at all. The benefit, drawbacks, and problems are all in the shield--not in the actual way you designed your character, not in the way you built your character. Your character may not be at maximum efficiency without it, but again--same is true of potions, etc. Now, your character may be built to require *A* shield--but that specific badass unique shield that's making your deflection that high? Nope. If you're using "bonus items" to achieve a specific disparity between classes stats, then it's the items that are the problem, not the classes.

I think the difference is that 90% or so of fights in the IE games can be won with nothing more than haste (if that's even necessary) while most fights in PoE require at least some level of micro. I found it got a bit tedious in PoE (and I think it would have worked 100X better and would have been incredibly fun were it turn-based, but that's obviously not going to happen. ) Ugh. No, please god, no. I *VASTLY* prefer RTwP. Turn-based isometric-view games a real turn off. Seriously. If I couldn't hit my pause button to play this game, I wouldn't bother.

The hours of st. rumbalt, ravenwing and godansthunyr come to mind - I don't remember a lot of the names. Also anything with lash or soulbound. I get that there is magic in the setting, but surely [good weapon + magic] is better than [oversized unwieldy weapon + magic], It's not unwieldy. It's magic. It's light, it's mass is fine, etc. It's ****ing magic. It's fine.

Games You Would Like to See as an Obsidian Isometric Game?

A dark superhero-themed story a la "Maximum Carnage".
