Linking to Youtube Videos on This Site
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rDlYhEWwM1A Maybe a youtube setting ?. They want you to go to youtube rather than watch it in a window. If you use the link function in the control panel it should still work, but with no media window.

The Cops are not doing a bang up job on the PR side that's pretty clear. Heavy handed tactics and so on. On the other hand there is an element of romanticism being tapped here that is not really relevant. This is not wounded knee. There is not necessarily a clear line from this to every injustice suffered by native Americans.

It seems a bit far fetched that a pipeline should 'threaten the water supply'. I'm going to go ahead and assume that they know how to build one that doesn't leak. There have been pipelines under the great lakes since 1950s. Those are the main open water reservoirs in the US.

If I stay with 4k and a 60hz screen for a long time, which is likely (I might get a 144 hz monotor for gaming but that will just be HD) I won't gain anything more once I have a stable 60 fps. Does the 1080 make sense in that context. Maybe 1070 SLI and I get the second card when it has dropped in price.

James Cameron. You gotta find their tree. These people live in trees, then send in a desillusioned former marine in disguised as 1/24th Navajo.

What are you playing right now

Nerdgasm: Movies and Shows for Geeks and Nerds
I'm not sure if that's because the movie is from before people obsessed about showing brands. I mean the Snow cat has Catarpillar written on it, but did they get a check for that. I doubt it.

When you say 'high' settings how close is that to a stable 60fps.

I'm vacillating on the 1070. I mean it can do 4k, but for a 4k gaming card it doesn't seem like it will last me that long. I'm gonna wait and see if the Benq scales well. What's next in the upcomming GPU offerings ?

1070 is probably best performance vs price. Diminishing returns start with the 1080. If you are happy to game in HD for the foreseeable future the don't get anything more than an RX 470. That's like half the cost of a 1070.

If this is true, and noise claims are always a bit unreliable, I should be golden. https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/MSI/GTX_1070_Gaming_X/23.html

Well neither does my current card, it's still really noisy at load. I could just buy the cheapest I can find and put a custom cooler on it but my CPU cooler makes the top PCI slot a difficult fit, the lower slot, which I'm using now, is not ideal for airflow. There are too many cables with thick insulation near the exhaust that I can't reroute. I'm sure that's part of my problem. Really I just need the card to not go very far above 60c at load and most 1070 fortunately dont. MSI and Asus (probably more) have versions with three fans rather than two and slightly overclocked ram. I could dial that back a bit and if I'm lucky that will be the sweet spot.

Nerdgasm: Movies and Shows for Geeks and Nerds
This movie doesn't have a happy ending. Jhon Carpenter looked at the test screening results and just went 'no, I like it better the way I created it'. It wasn't reedited by 10 different companies all trying to score best with focus groups. It doesn't have any 'fake awesome', you know what I mean, the high notes that are just there to check the boxes. There are no product placement scenes. It doesn't have sensory overload CGI action scenes. It is a good movie.

Yeah, but mostly not. Blockbusters and anything you can 'take the kids to' is generally crap. To a factor of around 20 to 1. Just as many bad small movies. Depending on genre of course, but it's the only place you are going to be surprised at what you get. I don't know if that's stereotyping or just grumpy nostalgia but I'm definitely not alone in my assessment. Movies are just generally crap. I have seen so many superhero movies now that I never want to see another one. I don't care about Chris Pratt or Jennifer Lawrence because I'm not 15 years old. I could go on.

Big Movies are always crap, look among the smaller ones to find quality. There's Ridley Scott at least, the Alien thing and the Blade Runner thing.

Could go 27-28' that would pay for the 1080 right there, but there is still windows scaling to worry about. I use one or two older programs and from what I understand it's still very hit and miss how well they do.

Soo, my endless monitor buying woes continue. This is my current candidate. Decided I would rather have increased quality over size. http://www.benq.com/product/monitor/bl3201pt Pros It's 32', it has full swivel and nice build quality. 10 bit colour capable Cons It's expensive and old(ish). the HDMI are 1.4, so no 60hrz which kinda defeats the purpose of having them. Have no idea what I'm going to do GPUwise. I wouldn't go higher than a GTX1070. Maybe I just keep my 1080p hooked up for gaming if the Benq doesn't scale down very well.
