  1. Rape happens a lot in the real world, it would be novel in a traditional CRPG, but I don't think the world is ready for a 'rape option' in a romance either. Just too creepy. Be mindful what language you use when discussing it though, or the thread will likely wind up locked.
  2. Don't start watching Law & Order though, it's boring as hell.
  3. I still think I would prefer an EU criminal court (if such a thing existed) over the US when the charges are national security related. Nice of you to drop by.
  4. Every case is different. They would probably come down extremely hard on the hacker in the name of national security. In those cases you want all the help your embassy and your legal system can provide. Extradition treaties also allow for nationals to serve prison sentences in their country of origin.
  5. The most important thing about 'books' you find lying around in RPGs is that they get to the point quickly. What kind of book is it, quest related, background, entertainment ? Oblivian had you turn pages for less than a hundred characters which didn't help navigation at all. As a rule these CRPG book parsers just aren't very good. Maybe it's just not something developers spend very much energy on. One button to open, same button to close, keep the layout simple and easy to navigate. My preference would be that they only go in your yournal if they are directly quest related. If it's your favorite section of The Lusty Argonian Maid you can leave it, read it then and there, or drag it around in your regular inventory.
  6. Probably the same reason people have been writing diaries for thousands of years, the act of writing helps you mull it over.
  7. You would think the auto translator would be able to get the pronouns right. Both English and German have obligatory subject and object marking. By rights It should be flawless at determiners (Die/Der) since it's specific to the word itself.
  8. And their relationship with the USA. They took power in Afghanistan thanks to US support. American anti-soviet interventionism was disastrous foreign policy and we'll be paying the price for dead men's idiocy for generations to come. No, it was a success in terms of tying up Russian resources. In the process though the west fought another sattelite war without clear thought of how it was going to play out afterwards. In cold war mathematics though we had denied an area to the enemy. It's not like 9/11 was predictable then.
  9. Go see him man, you are going to kick yourself later if you don't.
  10. No, no, no. They were only freedom fighters back when they fought the Russians with Rambo. Now They're terrorists. Seriously though, 14 year old girl, shot, head. All because she spoke up for education. You can't really troll from that. You need a more stable platform where you can piss people off because they believe that's what you actually believe. This is not it.
  11. Yes, deciding whether a 14 year old girl deserves to get shot in the head for insisting she has the right to go to school unmolested, that's a tough one alright.
  12. I wonder what Indonesian courts have to say about cats eating catnip, or monkeys and elephants eating fermented fruits. Drugs are not legal or illegal based on objective criteria. It's tradition, historical accident.
  13. Permadeath please I hate "raise dead". It's cheesy and implausible and removes nearly all the penalty from dying. In terms of making the game easy it's much worse than save scumming. Actually I'd like to propose that all versions of "raise dead" even at a temple are removed in expert mode. The whole mechanic is just silly. If that's what people mean by permadeath then I am all for permadeath. Permadeath like in the BG series for certain spells and sufficiently powerful critical hits. A lot of immersion was lost compared to NWN with the PC being the only killable party member. There is no challenge when there is nothing at stake.
  14. The posters with concept art thing sounds like a winner. I don't need another T-shirt.
  15. No to automatic health regen and stamina/mana bars. I also dislike short duration buff spells, they become a real chore after a while. The way potions worked in Witcher would be my preference.
  16. You really do attach way to much importance to countries. I'm pretty confident even the smelly colonials at Obsidian are able to read and even do so on a regular basis.
  17. Well he couldn't do it more than once, even though he was desperate to prove it was possible. He never had the kind of local knowledge and support he could count on in Cuba. In the end he was just big a name with a big price on his head. It didn't take them long to carve his remains up for trophies.
  18. 50 days to a year in paid maternity leave. I don't disagree with it, just from experience those kinds of laws can prevent women from getting hired.
  19. Not a fan of either Dragon Age games. I played them, but it started feeling like a chore after a while. And there's this Quite possibly the most ham-fisted moment in video games, ever. I'm old enough to think this reference is funny. You decide.
  20. More animation sets is not a bad thing. Of course I have no idea what they cost to produce.
  21. She doesn't have any superpowers, and takes on alien spaceships with dual walter PPKs. That was pretty laugable. I didn't think anyone could still out cheese Milla Yankovic.
  22. Is there any way to destroy an item to reclaim the enchantment. I didn' know critical bonuses were so hard to find.
