And motorcycles. Skyrim had horses, there is no way FO4 will not have hogs.

On Pacifism & the nonlethal takedown
Gorgon replied to Ralewyn's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
I'm not against it, but 2,5d isometric is probably not going to make for a good fung fu experience.- 51 replies

A lot of the art assets if not the engine looked quite dated when FONW came out, probably that it didn't look polished was a determining factor in failing to meet the bonus critera.

The argument could be made that western industrialized countries have the most to gain by securing a global emmissions treaty with real numbers attatched, not just lofty intentions. We already have the lead in green tech, and if developing countries have to follow suit there is money to be made. A whole lot of it. The idea being that it's basically a hoax orchestrated to create a new demand, you know like 'organic' food. I'm not personally that jaded but it's an interesting thought.

One really annoying bug has been bothering me. Every time a mind controlled enemy dies you get the 'fallen comrade' penalty applied again. Doesn't take much for most of your squad to panic with two psy squaddies. On the other hand you get the (intact) inventory of aliens you have controlled even if they were blown to bits on the last turn of the control ability. Which can be quite profitable.

The spawning isn't very good. Initially you are often better off not moving an inch after initial contact because trying to flank would bring in extra enemy squads. This is exacerbated on small maps. Getting the ghost armor helps some, but it's quite massively overpowered particularly if you get 6 assault squaddies using it. You guys should really be playing on classic, normal gets much too easy after your squad gets beefed up.

The police aren't corrupt in The Wire. They do the job they are given by politicians who want immediate results, so they deliver and juice the stats to keep their jobs. It's more of a systemic situation. Everybody who wants to succeed has to cheat to get there. Like winning the Tour de France

Actually it's nothing like a Law and Order episode. I wouldn't say that's a very good comparison. The only similarity is it has Detectives in it some of the time. If you were going to compare it to an episodical show, Homicide: Life on the Street would be the closest, because there's way more character projection than Law and Order, which is bone dry in comparison. The character John Munch from Law and Order: SVU is actually originally from Homicide: Life on the Street, same character, same actor. However his Law and Order version is _NOTHING_ like his Homicide: Life on the Street version, he essentially becomes a paper-cut out. Definitely give it a go Cantousent, give it a few episodes before deciding if you're into it or not (minimum 4 imo), as it's a show that builds over time. Law and order, in addition to being quite boring is one of those tigthly segmented weekly shows. There's always the visit to the coroner, always the tribulations of the public prosecutor, insert random office banter etc.nothing ever changes. Like NCIS really. The wire, although it's a cop show, has much more true to life characters, even if some are a bit over the top. Homicide was better in every sense and would not be a terrible comparison.

My saves aren't sorted at all, not even by time played and some times they don't show up before I do a reload. I have to limit myself to 3 slots to avoid confusion. I kinda wish there were more than just the one base assault, not counting the endgame. It would change things up a bit as well from the alien abduction missions. Other than that, playing on Ironman after I got the crashes sorted out is extremely challenging.

My best bet would probably be ganking other survivors for their ****.

Call me naive, but I don't understand the economic of mustaches and how they generate revenue. Does it really bring in people who otherwise would not have donated.

As mentioned there is one school of though that advocate that climate change is lowering the temperature, not raising it. I don't know what to think. We have only been measuring temperatures for a few hundred years, before that all we have to go on are permafrost segments. They can only tell us so much. That doesn't mean it's not a better idea to play the odds and reduce emissions as much as possible.

Guy just called me and told me he found my wallet. Even said exactly how much cash was in there. My faith in the human race has gone up a few notches.

I must admit I get zero řƟłěƤĮāŷíńģ enjoyment out of leveling up. It does grate at me constantly if I can't have my character the way I imagined it.

I like risk, in the form of permadeath for NPC party members like in BG2, not in the shape of blind choices and sucky builds.

This. So often you have no real idea what you are selecting before you have tried it out some.

Really? REALLY?! There is a HUGE scientific consensus that global warming is very real and very bad. But hey, what would scientists know? It's not like they study the Earth's atmosphere, water table, chemistry, and physics or anything. You mean most of the information from non-scientists has an agenda. Gorgon, you're spreading harmful disinformation by implying that both sides have an agenda. The global scientific consensus has no other agenda than telling the truth. And the truth they are telling you is: global warming is real, near, and catastrophic. The interesting thing is that all the engineers know this as well. Ask any country's professional engineering society what their stance on global warming is, and do they factor it into their design and planning decisions? The answers will be yes it is happening, and yes, they do. My post was about the difficulty of obtaining information on the subject, I wasn't looking for more opinion. There's enough of that going around. Prove it, so the skeptics who try and fail to discover it for themselves will be moved. It will be your good deed for the day. And to emphasise, the question was 'is global warming man made' not 'does it exist', of course it does. Edit : perhaps the word to use is 'climate change' since there is a school of though advocating that it's getting colder, not warmer.
-
It's not easy trying to figure out what the consensus is on global warming, most of the information out there has an agenda. The rest of it is very vague and doesn't come down on one side or the other, simply stating that there is a difference of opinion. The whole equation is so complex that it might as well be magic to the average observer trying to figure out if global warming is a man made phenomenon or not. I challenge anyone to try and reference what the prevailing feeling is in the scientific community. Scientists don't play politics, or they shouldn't, but are constantly co opted by one side or the other.

I support the option of a complete skill respec. You quite often wind up not having your build just the way you want it, you find out a skill you selected sucked and you are stuck with it etc, but it's not like you would bother starting over. I don't mind it costing a lot of gold or some experience even, so you don't misuse it.

I only listed shows that are still airing, otherwise BSG and The Wire would probably be in there.
