  1. He's not particularly strong as an actor, but he has a good agent, or just a knack of staring in movies that turn out good on average. Maybe he's just figured out his limitations over the last years. His sci fi movies are rarely bad.
  2. He was named, however briefly, the successor to Hitler so they couldn't just let him walk.
  3. We don't even know half of the dirt the US did in the name of stopping Communism in the 60s and 70s. The focus on showing continuety from the third reich to modern fashist groupings is kinda misguided though. The individuals are not important, the ideological similarities are.
  4. If it was all in Bag End we're good. The book is full of it in the begininng, but it tapers off drastically. Thank god.
  5. Makes sense I suppose. Britain had a similar programme in case the Germans were able to invade. It involved training criminals and regular civilians in guerrillia tactics, and the Soviets outnumbered us in Tanks by more than half. It also makes sense that they were Facists. They are sortof the traditional arch enemy of Communism. Even if they are more or less the same thing.
  6. Long before ww2 ended, would that be when the Soviets were taking their sweet time 'liberating' all the eastern block countries that would be come the Iron Curtain. Empire building, completely deliberate by Stalin, yes, the allies trusted eachother only to complete what they had set out to do which was to defeat Nazi Germany and not much more. Intelligence and technology assets were harvested by the US in particular with no regard to their Nazi affiliations, this is all well known, but Nazi POVs were assassinated on a large scale before they could stand trial publicly. Nureberg wasn't justice, it was a kangaroo court. Although the Nazis deserved everything that was comming to them, no mention at all was made of Allied war crimes. Hans Spedel was was one of the few people to survive the purges following the assassination attempt on Hitler, which he played a key role in. Probably the only reason he was allowed to have a role in post war Germany, but there is no denying his Nazi affiliations. If the allies had a use for ex Nazis they were not afraid of making them an offer they could not refuse, we have already mentioned Verner von Braun, but this is not surprising. National interests trumps justice every time. This does not mean that NATO is a Nazi organisation though. Again, the causality is entirely missing.
  7. That has **** all to do with NATO, it's interesting I agree but you only find causality there because you desperately want to.
  8. I'd say it was also up for debate whether the Raj were actually compromised of british subjects or whether they just got away with an elaborate snake charmer's trick. Ir's impressive either way though.
  9. Would'nt that be Alexander's Empire actually.
  10. Did anyone get Ezio does the American revolution. Also known as Assassin's Creed 3.
  11. I'm actually in a position to know, unless a prospective alt was immaculate in his or her IP spoofing, but I'm not going to spoil the fun.
  12. My dad ate monkey brains on a dare. More or less a sceene out of Indie and the Temple of Doom. Not advisable at all, but this was before anyone heard of prion diseases. You shouldn't eat human flesh simply because the chance of catching something that will infect a human is significantly increased.
  13. You kinda get tired of his shtick after a while. I read the books and enjoyed them, but I would never re read any of them. The series has no time for all the 'filler' which is an improvement.
  14. I don't know about this 'Law of Jante'. I mean I know of it, heard it mentioned when growing up. Basically it's small minded small town behavior in the order of 'don't ever imagine yourself to be special or better than anyone else'. It's not political correctness or group think however. We are often mentioned among the right wing resurgents in Europe because of the last decade of debate about immigration and the success of Danish People's Party. My feeling is that differences in income and status are getting much more marked especially with the economic crisis. We have an underclass, even if they don't starve or go without proper medical care, and they don't imagine themselves to be on par with everybody else. There is still a tendency to display more schadenfreude than appropriate when some very visible business tychoon goes bust, and of course every one of these tychoons write tiresome biographies about how they were brougth down by The law of Jante.
  15. The only nation with a chance of forcing a peace agreement on Israel, and let's face it Israel holds all the cards here, would be the US and that's never going to happen. There's is the strategic ally status and a strong pro jewish lobby. Israel has been paying lip service to peace negotiations for decades without any real interest in making concessions, and why would they. That would mean a stronger Palestine not so easily invaded, and time is on their side with the settlements. If they had to sit down and talk peace for real in 5 or 10 years time they will bring that much more real estate to the table.

Lybia wasn't invaded though. We provided air support to a protracted civil war, and NATO didn't have anything to do with Panama. You can't put all the US mistakes on us. In any event, we wouldn't want Russia, not now and not then.
  17. Damn, is the grammar flaming over already. I so rarely get the chance to sput my stuff.

I wonder if Russian kids grew up afraid that NATO was going to invade. That would be kinda funny, in a black is white, up is down kinda way.
  19. When it is used in a non restrictive relative clause. 'Paul, who is a jerk.' Restrictive relative clauses doesn't have commas. 'The red book that is on the table' can only refer to one specific book, while anyone can be a jerk. It's tangental, commentary, and the clause can have a comma.
  20. It was good, sortof a Warhammer Empire/Starship Troopers thing going on until Master Chief showed up and you were reminded of how lame the entire cannon is.
  21. How is the spawning. It was pretty horrid in FC2. You could literally just have finished a quest and the whole encampment would reset.
  22. The Nazi atrocities are all well documented. If they had any sense they could have been liberators. They could have turned key posessions into allies against Stalin. Instead they created partisans everywhere they went. They meant to rule Eastern Europe like the English had ruled India, but had a very poor understandig of how this was actually achieved. The army at the onset was second to none, but the show was run by racist lunatics.
  23. Path of Exile? Yeah, I think that's it.
  24. What was the name of that Diablo Clone everyone is waiting for ?
