Yeah the hardware part of it is nice enough.

Which iPad type gadget for elderly father?
It's more that I've done that discussion a million times already. I don't understand Apple users, but I have come to accept that I don't have to.

Which iPad type gadget for elderly father?
Why is the appstore a plus. I mean aside from preventing various malware, it seems to me there are easier ways of doing that. Hardly worth giving up root access to your device. Nevemind, lets not derail this into Apple vs PC.

I wonder how good the digitizer part of it is. I've got a wacom screen thingie, but it's got too many cords going on. Doesn't reach my couch without a hassle.

Philosophy and science
Invisible pink elephants. Deists believe they know for a fact, as clearly as anyone can know anything anyway, that they exists. Atheists stipulate with equal conviction that they cannot. The truth is that there is ample room in the human psyche for mutually exclusive ideas, even convictions. So as long as nobody puts a gun to the scientists head and forces him to chose, he can indulge in the logical fallacy of invisible pink elephants. It won't hurt his scientific objectivity any.

The Fitness Thread!
There really ought to be a common standard for measuring gears. 10 speed or 7 speed in my experience only means that there are that many of them. Many manufacturers make them purposefully low so they don't create too much stress on the, what's the word for a crank shaft on a bicycle, and that way they don't get as many claims on the insurance/mandatory guarantee. It ought to be presented as an equation. How many Newton applied per revolution translates into which speed on average terrain factoring in accelleration. Average that out and call those standardized increments 'gears'. You only really need about 5 or 6 if the increments are chosen well. I wonder if it would be possible to come up with an automatic gear system for bicycles. You could have a small computer for the gears powered by a dymamo.

President Obama
No, they're pretty much the same. Obamas progressive streak can be more expressed though. Romney took an oath to protect rich people from taxes. All republicans candidates do.

What's a solid state hybrid by the way. Does it use SSD for indexing, frequently used files, that kind of thing. The rest is optical.

Bought a subscription to a gym. Used it once in the last month. I'm a slob.

Maybe I'll spring for new board ram and processor for my old box instead. It's a more manageable prospect anyway. Certainly cheaper.

Looks like they are being deliberately obtuse about the specs. I found them elsewhere though. If I was able to get this with a substantial price reduction, re-sale but barely touched, should I bite. The Alienware part of it sounds fine, but its put together by Dell. Aside from the fact that it looks ridiculous how current are the parts. http://www.dell.com/us/p/alienware-aurora-r3/pd

Gary Mckinnon, and the debate of extradition
Don't start watching Law & Order though, it's boring as hell.

Gary Mckinnon, and the debate of extradition
I still think I would prefer an EU criminal court (if such a thing existed) over the US when the charges are national security related. Nice of you to drop by.

Gary Mckinnon, and the debate of extradition
Every case is different. They would probably come down extremely hard on the hacker in the name of national security. In those cases you want all the help your embassy and your legal system can provide. Extradition treaties also allow for nationals to serve prison sentences in their country of origin.

Immersive Journaling Concept
The most important thing about 'books' you find lying around in RPGs is that they get to the point quickly. What kind of book is it, quest related, background, entertainment ? Oblivian had you turn pages for less than a hundred characters which didn't help navigation at all. As a rule these CRPG book parsers just aren't very good. Maybe it's just not something developers spend very much energy on. One button to open, same button to close, keep the layout simple and easy to navigate. My preference would be that they only go in your yournal if they are directly quest related. If it's your favorite section of The Lusty Argonian Maid you can leave it, read it then and there, or drag it around in your regular inventory.

What you did today
Probably the same reason people have been writing diaries for thousands of years, the act of writing helps you mull it over.

German Obsidian website
You would think the auto translator would be able to get the pronouns right. Both English and German have obligatory subject and object marking. By rights It should be flawless at determiners (Die/Der) since it's specific to the word itself.

Norway appoints Muslim woman Minister of Culture
And their relationship with the USA. They took power in Afghanistan thanks to US support. American anti-soviet interventionism was disastrous foreign policy and we'll be paying the price for dead men's idiocy for generations to come. No, it was a success in terms of tying up Russian resources. In the process though the west fought another sattelite war without clear thought of how it was going to play out afterwards. In cold war mathematics though we had denied an area to the enemy. It's not like 9/11 was predictable then.

Question for the regulars here
Go see him man, you are going to kick yourself later if you don't.

Norway appoints Muslim woman Minister of Culture
No, no, no. They were only freedom fighters back when they fought the Russians with Rambo. Now They're terrorists. Seriously though, 14 year old girl, shot, head. All because she spoke up for education. You can't really troll from that. You need a more stable platform where you can piss people off because they believe that's what you actually believe. This is not it.

Norway appoints Muslim woman Minister of Culture
Yes, deciding whether a 14 year old girl deserves to get shot in the head for insisting she has the right to go to school unmolested, that's a tough one alright.
