Tropes that could be avoided
Gorgon replied to Margaretha's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
JE doesn't like romances either. So maybe we'll get none, or some bad ones. -
And we have liftoff

So an RPG with souls and stuff. Yeah not bad. They haven't really worked on anything I wanted to buy since NONW. -
So it's finally out. Do you have to buy HF1 to get this to work. Kinda indifferent about it now, took too long.

Show Muhammad

Artistic freedom is nice and everything, but do you really want to wonder whether your car is rigged to blow every day. The fundamentalists are genuine crazy. -

I don't see it, but I never read the books so what do I know. I hope it's Torment(ish), was there ever any official word on that kickstarter idea. Nameless goes through incarnations like potato crisps. It sortof fits. -
That's not a bad point. It's no excuse either. You can certainly conduct counter insurgency operations without torture and assassination, like you said yourself.

Although that makes me think Nose Mythology which makes me think Icewind dale. It's got a lot of name recogniton, and they could be converting the old games for tablets in tandem with this. -

It's a depiction of the midgaard serpent which envelops the world. http://en.wikipedia....iki/J -
I imagine the separatists still enjoy plenty of support, and will continue to do so in the foreseeable future. There is no state that doesn't use torture and assassination when the situation calls for it (which is rare, since there are plenty of other, more reliable ways to solve problems) . To believe that is to be exceedingly naive. Its a halfway racist prejudice against Russia that everything there is as brutal as possible, the state, the people, the culture...etc. Russia is not CNN and gangster flicks, just like Africa isn't a bunch of black people jumping around a fire. Russian human rigths violations in Chechnya are well documented, so in this case the media bias against Russia, which is a real thing by the way, is not wrong.

I remember that game, you shot magic out of large caliber wands. It was unreal engine but not particularly flashy for its time. The forum ranks have been what they are for ages though, that's not any indication. -
The westling culture is in no danger whatever of being destroyed. Funny how you use the same venacular to describe Chechnya as the Chinese do Taiwan. How are the demographics, how much support do the seperatists still enjoy. Given that the Russian authorities don't shy away from torture or disappearing people in the middle of the night it's not an easy thing to answer. You don't want to be on the record if you live there.

Is it counting down. I was sure it said '3' earlier. -
No, he died because a bunch of lunatics broke into his office and lynched him.

You can't really go by who owns the IP. Obsidian could have come on as hired muscle, like FONW. -

Neverwinter nights or Baldur's Gate. Holding out for BG3, but thinking it's NW3. -
By the way, freedom of speech IS freedom to offend. Those who think otherwise haven't really. We distinguish between freedom of speech and legaly libel. Not the same.

Tearing down the Dutch flag hasn't got any oomph. No need to complicate things, one great satan is as good as the next.

Too good to be true. No recoil either.

a gimped sergio moricone theme played poorly and an old fool, there really is no other word for it. damn tragic. i like most of his movies.

Maybe so, churchgoing is not very common here. Probably a side effect of priests being on a state salary, they don't need to bother brining them in, so they don't. Of all the people I know that say they believe only one ever goes to mass and such. No escape since he's friends with a priest. Also were protestants and not too keen on the idea of a church bureaucracy standing between individual and god. There is little social pressure to attend.

Sure, but can you belong in the believer group without actually believing as much as simply going with the flow.

I know there is one, but Atheism isn't really a movement. It's just the inability to believe in what is after all a rather outlandish premise for which there is no tangible evidence.
-
I maintain that there is a significant margin for error when asking people if they believe or not. Most people will say yes if they were raised that way, but spend no time thinking about the implications. It's more belonging in a club than believing in God, the devil and paradise. They need the pagentry of the church for weddings and funerals, they may even have turned to prayer in some moment of personal crists only to forget all about it when it passed. Does that really count.

Islam is charged by a violent political climate though. It's nationalist tension much like that witnessed between India and Pakistan for a century already. It's much more about Israli settlers claiming more land every day than about literal interpretations of the Koran.
