Exactly. If you don't have free speech, they are not out in the open anymore.

It's smartest to have the neo nazis out in the open. Where you can keep an eye on them.

I can't do without my 8 button logitech g5 now, with most games being designed for console and 7-8 keys at most at reach without having to go looking for them. You can even design a macro for button mashing.

I was going to say we ought to skip this year, but ok I'll go for X-com.

That would be what the Nazis called those who didn't like their Greko-Roman revival themed buildings and statues. I do kinda like the Stalinist propaganda aestethic. It has nothing on North Korean pieces though, even if they are kinda creepy. You know they represent a fantasy that you either buy into or you disappear in the middle of the night.

I haven't played it, just going on every Assassins Creed game made. The first one had tons of unskippable dialouge. They stopped doing that but didn't put anything better in its place unfortunately. So yes, the first thing you think when you play an AssCreed game is 'I wish there was more' because the basics are really good.

If it's anything like the recent games you will get tired of the four core game mechanics pretty quickly. The map shows you what kind of mission it is and you just do the same **** 50 times in different locations. There is no dialouge except cutscenes and you just don't ever feel invested in cut scenes. Jumping around on rooftops combined with the jumping puzzles are my favorite thing about the series, but it's not enough for a whole game.

What are you playing now - the plays the thing

I almost finished DD # 1. The last dungeon was too boring though. -

Hitman absolution. My main complaint is that a non lethal takedown is very hard. You have to strangle them for minuites on end and risk getting into hand to hand combat which is a stupid quicktime event type of thing. Press various buttons in random order when they blink, or lose. So my playthrough on hard invariably turns into a bloodbath once my cover is blown. Not necessarily a bad thing, but I would rather not be forced into that outcome all the time. So far there are nowhere as many different approaches as in the previous games, which was what made replaying a level fun, and what's with the win button bullet time move, and since when could 47 hide a sniper rifle up his sleve and walk calmly by the cops. Aside from all that, it's awesome. -
Skaven are definitely cool and they are definitely furries. Just sayin'. Whole pages taken up with mostly images might be a bit much. Can we tone it down a bit please. Breaking my own rule, but it needed a pic.

The Kotor Steam version works fine on my win7. It hasn't aged particularly well though. I couldn't get into it again.

Mechwarrior online is out http://mwomercs.com/game And there's another source engine mechwarrior project close(ish) to being finished. Forget the name. If you are starting to feel that every game feels like the last one, same polish, same built for console interface, this might be for you.

Anyone tried Hitman Absolution yet.

Norway appoints Muslim woman Minister of Culture
Gorgon replied to obyknven's topic in Way Off-Topic
Agreed. Unfortunately the legacy of the first wave of Islamic terrorism in the 70s and 80s was that it worked great for getting attention to your cause. -

Surely radical Islamism and it's terror component are both religious and political in nature. One might prefer if the these were separate entities, but they rarely are. In some cases they are more or less inseparable. In fact one might call it a very specific kind of worship associated with blowing things up. -

It's funny what it takes to make the news. Apparently it's newsworthy that a housing coop voted down the expenses for the Christmas tree with a Muslim majority. Clearly doom is at hand of the multicultural variety. -
No, you get to feel occasionally very powerful as you encounter the same bandits you would on lv 1. Most of the time they have both level and armor upgrades though. It's nowhere as annoying as in Morrowind (lv 40 rats) or Oblivion.
-
I'm not sure there is such a thing as a good boss fight. They are certainly very rare. It's usually trial and error and often with a new set of mechanics than what you had been using for 99% of the game, in other words an unwelcome nuisance at what was supposed to be a peak moment.

Agree on Shivering Isles. A bit small though. In a perfect world it would have been the main game.

The dialogue is quite abhorrent in Morrowind, a lot of improvements there in Oblivion and Skyrim, but NPC interaction is still a Bethesda weakness. Morrowind was about seeing what was on the other side of the hill. Once you got tired of that the main quest was more or less an afterthought. It didn't feel like every other game though, great art direction instead of the 'safe' default 1200 ct Europe fantasy setting you always get. I do agree that Skyrim would have been much better without so much hand holding of the PC. Let people figure it out themselves. The automap for instance had you zapping between locations and there was a notation for every little hovel. The fun of getting there was taken out of it way too soon. Your journal automatically got filled up with quests, you didn't even have to do anything other than kill stuff you met on the way.

Same difference. The only election where personal votes actually matter are municipal elections, and no one cares about them. Otherwise they go to the party for determining mandates.

This is why you should have at least 7 or 8 parties. The Republicans have to cater to wingnuts and it's dragging them down long term as people are starting to get fed up with them.
-
It's a bit annoying that you can't buy specific classes. After you get the new guy upgrade you can buy 20-30 or so squaddies, they only cost 15 a piece and have no upkeep, and just dismiss the classes you don't need.

Some people get very hard over that whole republican fembot Ann Coulter look.

I kinda think actors and musicians and the like should stay out if politics. In my opinion it's a somewhat unsavory way to use whatever goodwill and recognition they have accrued. Better spent doing charity work at least. Wheldon is a director, that's not quite the same. You would expect someone like that to be opinionated.
