... And only half as powerful as a character that had gone pure melee, or pure archery. Nope, that is the case in DS2, but not in DS1. If I was gone pure melee, I was maybe 8 lvls higher (dont feel like extracting the exp values with the siege editor right now for exact numbers). But now I can shoot from range, and when they get close, my sword, shield and plate armor comes in action. True, the damage is lower, but I have more survivability = more up time = more damage over time. DS2 has skill points, and when you go 2 classes, you need to spread the skill points into the two trees to make them both effective, so you won't be able to reach the high end skills. That's an admirable defence of the system, but I don't buy it (not when even the devs advise against multiclassing in-game because it weakens your char), nor do I notice any difference between experience+skill the system across DS1 and 2? If anything, DS2's implementation of powers allows for slightly more powerful multi-classes than DS1. Titan Quest's system WAS pretty fun, but I doubt we'll see it used.

Scientists are aware of the immense power of the sun's solar flares, but modern human history has never experienced a proper solar storm the likes of which happens every 100 years or so. The kind that would obliterate much of Earth's electronics, and certainly all satellites. Chilling when you think about it. http://hardware.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=09/04/26/1743255 http://news.slashdot.org/story/10/03/01/01...diation-Katrina

Interesting concept. It would give the mana pool a purpose for non-mages! -

Suggestions for Dungeon Siege III

PvP is something that should be added last, after EVERYTHING else is polished. -
Dungeon Siege 3 not party-based, solo instead

I am assuming that was sarcasm.... you really have something against the Diablo series. Nope, I spent 6 years playing Diablo 1 and 2 and will spend another couple playing Diablo 3. -
And yet there is a 70 line limit?

Video card problem. Is it only when playing more demanding 3D games? I think you'll find that if you give it like 10 minutes it will eventually blue screen. That's what happens on mine. -

Take Icewind Dale as an example, Nathaniel. Would you suggest it should have unlimited ammo? To my mind the ideal scenario in that game would be unlimited basic ammo (mundane bullets, bolts, arrows, darts) but LIMITED magic ammo (e.g. fire arrows, dispelling arrows, etc). How will you handle it in Dungeon Siege? Will you add different ammo types? That would be cool! It would add a fun new dimension to the otherwise slightly boring archer class. -
How tyte is it?

Skills or classes? Balance?
Humodour replied to Kunikos's topic in Dungeon Siege III: General Discussion
I like the learn-by-doing system in theory, but in practice it's almost always too grindy, or encourages grinding too much. I'd like a hybrid system. You invest your skill points on level ups, but you also get discounts on skills you used most in the least level. If there's, for example, 10 skills, you could get discounts for 3 most used skills. Darklands had my personal favorite learn-by-doing system, because you had discrete gameplay chunks that you earned points at the end of, and the rewards weren't directly related to the amount of times you did them if I recall. Either way, making basic stuff like Jumping part of a learn by doing system isn't good for gameplay, IMO, unless you are very careful about it. Also, I'm wondering why you speculate 1) that we have classes 2) that, if we did, they wouldn't be fun classes? Square Enix press release: "Pick from unique and highly customizable character classes with a wide range of abilities to choose from" I surmise that a learn-by-doing system would not be very fun, as is usually the case. Prove me wrong? One idea I had is to make learn-by-doing fun is to allow the player to elect what class or skillset they want to improve, and then allow all 'doing' (improvement/xp gain) to improve that class or skillset, until the player changes which one he wants to improve in. E.g. if player says he wants to be an archer, then all sword-fighting or spellcasting done from there on improves his archer skillset. Until he decides he wants to be a fighter, at which point all actions start improving melee instead. The benefit of the system is that the player isn't painfully restricted to one way of playing the game, it allows a lot of variety, while still specialising the player over time. -
So who is working on this game?

Actually, we're speaking of a beverage that is made OUT of honey (fermented from it). -
I heard the scuba divers were also killed execution style. Why?

Monte, one of the principles of freedom on which the USA was predicated is that somebody can order somebody else to do anything they want. It just so happens that part of that same freedom is the ability of the person being ordered to ignore said order unless there's a lawful compulsion. So don't get your knickers in a knot.

1 day before Obsidian announced DS3, Chris Taylor from Gas Powered Games said that Dungeon Siege 3 would be solo and that he was sick of parties. http://kotaku.com/5013942/dungeon-siege-3-...-could-fly-solo Interesting. I don't mind either way, however Square Enix have said that "For those wanting to play the game single player your character will be able to recruit companions to help you on your quest." Will these companions be similar to Fallout 1/2 companions in that they follow you but are not directly controllable?

Took a VO2 max test recently. Scored nearly 51. This places me in the excellent to superior range, and as good as the elite athletes of various sports (e.g. orienteering, baseball, basketball). So I'm happy. I could always stand to improve my fitness, though.

Clearly this game is in the hands of a madman! Barrels better... no way. Crates are just so... warehouse level. But barrels? Barrels could be filled with mead, ale or some other festive fantasy beverage. Or gold coins and a breastplate. Don't ask me why. Mead... have you ever had mead? It makes you understand why the Vikings were awesome incarnate. Actually I haven't, but I've had Barenjager and it's a similar idea. It's really good! Oh nice! I'll have to try and nab some of that. On mead, we've got a pretty good manufacturer in Australia - see if they're in your local alcohol superstore perhaps (or find some equivalent): http://www.maxwellwines.com.au/maxwell-mead/ Spiced mead (like a wine) is best in my opinion. I haven't had any alcohol (or drink in general) quite like it. American distributor: United States of America CLD Imports LLC BARRINGTON, ILLINOIS T: +1 847 898 9504 E: danielle@cldimports.com
