  1. Yes. The plot ain't too bad either. It IS still a dungeon crawl, but they added a bunch of new RPG elements to it (both in terms of story/dialogue and combat). DS2 is the type of game you'd play once, enjoy, be happy you played, then probably never play again. The plot isn't bad, but it IS linear.
  2. You gotta be kidding me. HAHAHAHA THIS IS AWESOME!!! I loved Dungeon Siege 1 and 2. DS1 was a beautiful if simple dungeon crawl, while DS2 was a reasonably complex if linear in plot dungeon crawl and still quite beautiful. Now with Obsid working no 3 I can see it being a full-blown decent RPG the likes of which I've been craving for a while, and a decent dungeon hack no the side.
  3. Mathematics is incredibly necessary. If it's common belief in America right now (am I getting the right vibe? kind of jumped in) that mathematics is not necessary, then you can say goodbye to superpower status within a few decades, regardless of anything the outside world does. Certainly any education system without compulsory mathematics education would be a scary beast indeed. Lack of compulsory linguistics and literary analysis subjects isn't much better, either...
  4. Yeah, I noticed. And this is the clincher for me. The one big opportunity to prove to the world they've been misrepresented (as they claim) and they don't take it. I wonder why?
  5. Reasonable scientists and others are challenging the hysteria and slowly de-bunking the whole thing, I suppose. What dream world do you live in? One based on open, peer-reviewed science, not astro-turfing leftist groupthink Really? Because most of the information I've seen has said that yes, it's happening. Quite. But the thing we have to realise, Calax, is that most peer-reviewed scientific journals are just full of astro-turfing and leftist groupthink (e.g. Nature or Science).
  6. Anybody want to have a romp with me today and see how far we can get? Would prefer a lvl1 start but I have a Siren who finished the game so we could try a second play-through with existing characters.
  7. Sooo, my strong feelings about this game has somewhat abated (due to nothing other than time passing). I'll see what type of reviews it gets and then decide if I buy it or not. I think the fact that they're paying attention to the fashion style of NPCs in the game is quite surprising, and may indicate an attention to detail I thought the game would be devoid of.
  8. So what? The Greens are an important and certainly legitimate party in many countries around the world (Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, a bunch of other countries in Europe and South America). And I say important in the sense that they are part of the policy-making process (balance of power, coalition, cabinet positions, local government leadership, etc), not simply as a third party without any political representation. What, can't you handle a political system that isn't completely black and white (two-party)?
  9. What do you think has happened to Climate Change? The real message and science is being drowned out by corporate and political greenwash.
  10. Hmm, who am I going to trust about the differences between the Soviet Union and North Korea: a man with a degree in Soviet studies who also has a PhD in North Korean Literature, speaks Korean and has visited North Korea multiple times, or Wrath of Dagon? LOL, owned.
  11. It's what Russia always did in the past and it seemed to work. Dunno.
  12. The two were coincidental. Today was my day off which I'd been planning all week, whereas I felt horrible because my stomach was upset. I think you're jumping to conclusions. And I'm not sure you'd have a clue what was unhealthy in my life without knowing me personally (i.e. in real life). No reason to get defensive. Drugs in general are unhealthy, even prescription ones. My point was that if your body (or mind, you were fairly vague earlier) is telling you that something is wrong, like your stomach issue, then doing something that is already unhealthy is even worse. It is a warning sign. You don't have to agree with me, I just saw it as a cause for concern. No worries, I just don't agree with the sentiment that "drugs are unhealthy". Addictions are unhealthy. Abuse is unhealthy. But these things aren't unique to drugs (which is, in any case, an extremely broad and non-descriptive term). Anyway, had a great day at work. Spent 15 minutes on the phone with one of my favourite colleagues as we bitched about one of our least favourite colleagues (who is showing sociopathic, or at the very least narcissistic, tendencies).
  13. I've started watching Community. It's bloody brilliant.

  15. Felt horrible today, took some psychedelics. Cleared my mind. When I came back down to Earth, I watched Moon. Brilliant movie. Why haven't I heard about it before? Watched The Fountain the other day, too. I definitely shouldn't have seen it sober.
  16. Egypt has opened their section of the blockade to these ships, so it's curious that Israel claims they will continue their current path of blocking these aid ships. http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2010/06/02/2915852.htm
  17. I thought we'd already covered that fact that this rig's failure was human error? Reasonably preventable human error, too? Genuine question actually. My memory of this thread and the latest news on this issue is fuzzy.
  18. EXACTLY the same things being discussed in this 'internet' thread are being discussed in 'real-life' newspapers, on TV, in caf
  19. How else would you board it if they weren't cooperating? They had nothing to cooperate with! Their ship was stormed without fore-warning during the twilight hours of the morning. If you're going to board and search a vessel as a responsible policing force, you don't ATTACK IT WHEN EVERYONE IS SUPPOSED TO BE ASLEEP. Open your eyes and do a bit of bloody reading before you post for once. Also, Egypt has opened up their end of the blockade to allow these ships through, so where does that leave Israel now, legally?
  20. An insightful article on the situation with fresh details: http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2010/06...m?section=world

  22. O.K. maybe not tasers, but I'm pretty sure, being one of the best equipped armies in the world, they could come up with something better than paintball guns and switching to their live ammunition sidearms at the sight of *gasp* a knife. Like it's totally unpredictable. In a crowd. ... but you don't see a problem with using tear gas... on a boat? btw, is the tear gas to be used before or after the israelis shimmy down their ropes from the helicopter? HA! Good Fun! ps everybody should have a westlaw subscription... would make these kinda posts much easier for Gromnir. It turns out the Israeli's did in fact use tasers, rubber bullets, and tear gas. That's something at least. Oh, do you still want me to answer your question, Gromnir? Because they fired it both before and after shimmying down their ropes. Then again, why were they firing before they even boarded the vessel? Why were they acting like pirates? http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2010/jun/0...ccounts-gunfire
  23. Why was this ship boarded in PITCH-BLACK in the morning by COMMANDOS in the first place?!
