  1. And? Some fighters decide to kill anything that moves. Some put their minds to dragons. They're both fighters and they both have to learn their skills somewhere. Would you prefer they started off fighters, then changed? I don't see a problem either way, personally. Of course, any Dragon should be able to mop the floor with a lvl 1 dragon slayer without breaking a sweat*. For example, dragon slayers shouldn't start out with any unique dragon slaying abilities, because that would be rather illogical. Unless dragon slaying is in their blood or something. *Because dragons are very powerful beasts, not because lvl 1 characters should be pansy loser pushovers. Basically in D&D I'd like to see less of a gap between lethality and power at high and low levels. Personally I dislike the level system entirely (think Whitewolf), but if it has to exist there shouldn't be such ludicrous differences in power and endurance - any level of monsters should still be a threat to a high level hero, if he does stupid things, like run up to a bunch of globin archers while waving a sword around. No that isn't how D&D has been in the past. But this isn't D&D in the past. There's enough versions and rulebooks which vary the themes of D&D 1, 2 and 3. It's time for something more innovative.
  2. There's a modicum of merit in that post. XP is definitely the best revision of Windows, and Vista sucks monkey balls - and some version of Windows is necessary for games, so XP is fine for that. But for any sort of advanced applications or programming I'd choose a Unix based system like Mac or Linux (go Ubuntu!). Thank god for dual boot. Hell if games didn't exist, I think Windows would be completely redundant.
  3. A spy FPS RPG with the writer from Bloodlines + the rest of the Obsidian crew? *falls in love*
  4. *cough* Is this thing on? Uh, attention please. The Owner to the Overseer's office, please. The Owner to the Overseer's office.

  7. <Pidesco> Tale's sex life is a videogame <Tale> Lots of fun! However, it's single player and a work of fiction.
  8. I think Sand just feels safe with things as they are and wants to stagnate further editions of D&D (which he simply needn't play) by abhoring any innovations.
  9. No guys don't ban him he's my friend. ARRRRRGHG.
  10. The invitation code feature is not normal. It should be fairly easy to turn off once you find how/where it is installed.
  11. Why won't you add me as your friend, Owner?
  12. Yeah, because it totally makes sense to be the biggest loser around for the majority of your life, then suddenly start becoming a superhero in the span of weeks.
  13. Yeah I've definitely found that. Leave the real writing to the writers I say.
  14. BG2 is to PS:T as cheap Mills and Boon romance novels are to LoTR.
  15. I've got a copy installed on my computer. Is it worth playing?
  16. This thread gets a thumbs up. I played some DS2:BW, did some scripting, and ran around Mount Panorama.
  17. You do know Planescape: Torment is better than Baldur's Gate.
  18. And, as if anybody needed to be directed to these: XKCD http://xkcd.com/1/ Cyanide and Happiness http://www.explosm.net/comics/15/ P.S. The Snorg t-shirt model is quite hot. EDIT: Further, I believe this is an important part of any discourse on Western culture: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMwdAc1Dzfg
  19. I suspect it's because you need a new code each time somebody registers? I used the one you were trying to use.
  20. Nine Inch Nails - Right Where It Belongs Although I just listened to pretty much the entire With Teeth album. It's damn good.
  21. I detach myself from Australian media because I can't stand the hype, sensationalism and what's effectively subliminal suggestion in news and advertising. However, I'd like to hope we're not going too far down that road. I think the problem is that it's a recent thing. It's more that we haven't had time to explore or notice the consequences that travel with Western globalisation, rather than that some entity is trying to hide them from us (although I'm sure media companies and politicans are exquisitely aware of how good they are at playing people). I'd personally rather like to think that in 20 or 50 years time, people will have matured past feeling bad about themselves because they don't look as pretty/skinny as a make up model on TV, or getting ready for blood when the media produces 'evidence' of the latest scandal against person/company/minority X. I have faith in Western culture, personally. I think we're on the right track in general, but there are many facets which also disturb me greatly.
  22. No, Steve has a good point. While this sort of thing is bound to happen now and then in any country, why does America have such a problem with it? It's easy to say "That's sad." and blame the killer (which is fair enough). But that's not going to get you anywhere unless you also ask why he did it and why America produces people more prone to such things. Blaming computer games is a flawed attempt at this.
  23. You must have been drunk when you tried to play it. Tirals of the Luremaster was an excellent little adventure and the average BG/IWD gamers would definitely enjoy it. I heartily recommend.
  24. It is major, but it is not heretical. WotC itself released armor as DR rules in the Unearther Arcana. The point is if Obsidian tried to officially release this or sell this, WoTC would block them. No two ways about it. They're sticklers for THEIR rules. I'd prefer if it was a pet project of Josh's, instead, anyway.
