  1. They just didn't feel complete to me, so I find it hard to describe them as anything other than "good" (KOTOR2 that is).
  2. I hate the forced restart. But if you get the "Restart now or in 10 mins?" option, just drag it to the bottom corner of the screen and you'll never see it again.
  3. Haha yeah. I just listened to "I'm so excited" by The Pointer Sisters. The movie clip gets rather interesting at about 50-55 seconds in: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w-DcNPFWhbk Then there's Total Eclipse of the Heart, I Will Survive, Dust in the Wind, Time After Time, I Want to Know What Love Is, etc... ah <3 nostalgia.
  4. Planescape: Torment had the best romances of RPGs so far (they were subtle, though). But then, I don't suppose you'd know that, right? I wasn't even aware KOTOR1 had romances. KOTOR2's could have been good but they were as buggy and unfinished as the rest of the game. BG2's romances... well I guess there's kind of something for everyone? LOL except girls who just had Enema.
  5. For one dizzying moment there I thought I had been outed. I love you. Never leave.
  6. Haha yeah. I've been digging up all the old 80's stuff. I know it all off by heart, so I think the 80's had more of an affect on the 2 years of life I spent in them than I thought.
  7. **** me. And I only just started to read his books. "The Truth" was an absolute miracle of fiction!
  8. To Vista proponents: Justify to me why I, an average Windows user, should change from XP to Vista. Consider that XP is stable and essentially bug-free, while Vista is simply growing stable and bugfree. Further consider that Vista offers no new innovations in word processing, gaming or multimedia compared to XP. And don't go quoting "dual cores" and "64-bit" like you actually know what they mean or could actually name a way they've made your life as an average user easier. Vista may not be bad as such. What it is is redundant, bloated and for all intents and purposes, unnecessary.
  9. You read their secret evil plan diaries, did you? Drat. No, level 1 is at the least an average citizen - a farmer, a mage's apprentice, a baker. Plenty of real-world knowledge and no doubt some experience, at least 2nd hand, with the horrors and wonders of the world. And while at the least they are an average citizen, at the most they are a hero in the making, and nothing about that shouts "I just figured out which way to point a sword. DUUUUR" to me. None (or very, very few) of the existing NPCs in the D&D universe started out as the "level 1 is a fresh out of the boot camp" types you describe, so why should all the heroes players create suddenly fit that type? Don't mistake any of this for the omission of levels. But level 1 shouldn't mean "I can't tie my shoelaces, oh look a goblin nicked me and because I'm a wizard that means I'm dead. Pitty - if I was a warrior, I could swing my 2-handed sword at it all day and miss!". Oh so playing a game about magic is fine, but playing a game which directly claims to be about extraordinary people is somehow bogus? Super DND it may be, but only in the sense that it acknowledges there is nothing normal or ordinary about somebody who will go on to fight the extraordinary such as dragons or powerful wizards - because it simply is NOT something every person has the ability inside them to do. You know nothing about whether or not this will make characters more uber (especially considering how uber they are now, which you so easily forget). From what I can gather it's more about a partial redistribution of power so that there's a more fluid and consistent experience for the entire game. And finally, no it won't play exactly the same as 3rd edition. If you want 3rd edition, play 3rd edition. I mean really - how could it possibly affect you in any way if you think there's nothing wrong with 3rd ed you can't fix with current rules or house rules? The first few levels may not be the make/break point in 4th edition. Perhaps the entire game will be a struggle as the first few levels were? Who knows. What we do know is that it is a DIFFERENT game, and that it should not be strictly compared to previous editions because of this. After all, what made you think the level system of the previous editions was so flawless and perfect? That they didn't change it? Weak argument, that.
  10. I just reviewed some mods for my latest run through of BG2 (it'd probably only actually be my 4th or so). I actually quite like the Gibberlings 3 mods. For the most part they seem logical and restrained (biggest problem most mods have is being unbalanced). Contemplating playing this (slightly?) overpowered class with Ascension installed: http://www.gibberlings3.net/geomantic/ but it might be just a little too overpowered, even given its penalties. Have a job interview tomorrow so I should hit the sack. Ciao!
  11. It doesn't change your post really, but I edited mine - for the record.
  12. I guess there's a twisted merit in that. Perhaps if people didn't take these shootings so seriously the future shooters wouldn't find it so "glamorous".
  13. Obviously you have never went through the shopping craze of Cabbage Patch dolls and Tickle Me Elmos. It's been 6 years and I still can't decide whether or not you're the elaborate troll account of somebody with infinite patience.
  14. That's because you enjoy long romantic walks along the beach and sitting for hours staring into your lover's eyes.
  15. Hahahaha. She makes a strong case.
  16. I agree. I think it's the easier course of action. But I bet Wizards of the Crapper will manage to screw it up somehow. EDIT: But on topic: From the perspective of a CRPG, it's good that these changes are occurring. They give plenty of plot material to work with, regardless of how much they might bastardise the setting - I mean, if WoTC decrees it must happen, make lemonade out of lemons, right?
  17. I think it's more that D&D core rules are something close to peoples hearts and they don't want to see them bastardised. If you were actually discussing some part of Aliens you were working on I highly doubt they'd act rude towards you. So you should totally start discussing Aliens.
  18. If they don't put in melee then there's no point in 3rd person view. Even with melee it's entirely doable Deus Ex style. What's one up is that Josh hates the "shoot right in their eye but still miss due to dice roll" system, so we'll hopefully see Deus Ex's wonderful targetting system.
  19. And? Some fighters decide to kill anything that moves. Some put their minds to dragons. They're both fighters and they both have to learn their skills somewhere. Would you prefer they started off fighters, then changed? I don't see a problem either way, personally. Of course, any Dragon should be able to mop the floor with a lvl 1 dragon slayer without breaking a sweat*. For example, dragon slayers shouldn't start out with any unique dragon slaying abilities, because that would be rather illogical. Unless dragon slaying is in their blood or something. *Because dragons are very powerful beasts, not because lvl 1 characters should be pansy loser pushovers. Basically in D&D I'd like to see less of a gap between lethality and power at high and low levels. Personally I dislike the level system entirely (think Whitewolf), but if it has to exist there shouldn't be such ludicrous differences in power and endurance - any level of monsters should still be a threat to a high level hero, if he does stupid things, like run up to a bunch of globin archers while waving a sword around. No that isn't how D&D has been in the past. But this isn't D&D in the past. There's enough versions and rulebooks which vary the themes of D&D 1, 2 and 3. It's time for something more innovative.
  20. There's a modicum of merit in that post. XP is definitely the best revision of Windows, and Vista sucks monkey balls - and some version of Windows is necessary for games, so XP is fine for that. But for any sort of advanced applications or programming I'd choose a Unix based system like Mac or Linux (go Ubuntu!). Thank god for dual boot. Hell if games didn't exist, I think Windows would be completely redundant.
  21. A spy FPS RPG with the writer from Bloodlines + the rest of the Obsidian crew? *falls in love*
  22. *cough* Is this thing on? Uh, attention please. The Owner to the Overseer's office, please. The Owner to the Overseer's office.
  23. WE ARE THE SPACE ROBOTS. WE ARE HERE TO PROTECT THEOWNER. DATA: PUSH TARGET: THE OWNER DATA: STAIRS
  24. <Pidesco> Tale's sex life is a videogame <Tale> Lots of fun! However, it's single player and a work of fiction.
